I find them to be a nice change of pace from the normal posts we find on here but I totally get it's not for everyone. Luckily they are easy to pick out in the list of threads and by that note, just as easily avoided if it's not your cup of tea.

Can you solo normal vaults of madness? I haven't done it yet and I like my first time to be solo if I can - so I really get the story and feel of the dungeon.

As long as it doesnt have any multiplayer only mechanics, or too many insta kills, I should be ok.

I managed blessed crucible, although for that annoying troll king I had to spend a few skill points to really get my dps up... I'm so glad that he ended up being the trophy. He will have pride of place in my trophy wall with a sky shard spotlight... I hate him.

Anyway... I get off the track. Can VoM be soloed?

Yes, but it needs a bit of planning on the second boss (the harvester). She will stun you for 15 seconds (unavoidable), so you need to be able to passively shield/heal through it. On the first boss, it's mainly an issue of respecting mechanics.

    @AdamBourke

Just want to second the above post by Varana. VoM can absolutely be soloed, one of my characters has done it many times. And agreeing with Varana's post, the harvester is the worst encounter.

Its not what I would call a difficult fight, but extremely tedious. It will take you a while if alone. You will constantly be stunned, she will constantly heal back some of damage youve done. Making sure I was full health and using vigor before she grabbed me was enough to keep me alive without concern. In between stuns you just pile on as much damage as possible. Once you get past that one, the rest is rather easy.

In fact, the daedroth mini can be skipped completely to speed things up a bit if youd like. I slot rapids right before I enter his room, and then run past all of them for the door in the rear. Make a fast left in the hallway, jump the pool of whatever. Of course there will be all sorts of mobs in the hallway chasing you now as well, but thats ok, ignore them and let them chase.
Soon you will reach the jump and they will all be left at the top frustrated, and you can continue on your way.

If youre trying to get the story, you really should do it. I will also add that out of all dungeons Ive soloed for story, it was the VoM story that had the biggest impact on me. Not because it was very fascinating, but for me it was first and only dungeon I can remember where only a third of the way through I started questioning myself if I was fighting on the right side. And by the end, if was possible, I most like wouldve switched.

    Good luck with it :)

Thanks @Varana and @Vulsahdaal, I gave it a go today and really enjoyed it!

The first mini boss was surprisingly challenging, I don't know what he was doing, some kind of life drain and stun at the same time or something?

The Harvester wasn't too bad - probably thanks to your warnings! I used (the morphed version of) lightning form with liquid lightning and the lightning staff ultimate to maintain damage through most of the stuns, so managed to burst most of her feasts without doing anything, it was actually quite fun. I only discovered lightning form to defeat the troll king, and I'm really liking it!

The Flaming Fresh atronach was fun too, if a bit easy.

And of course, the Mad Architect himself was amazing. Lots of stuff going on when you have no-one to handle all of his summons, and his two ultimate type skills are really cool. I wish we could have them on our characters! I loved that for his slow time one, you have to get really close to him to not take damage!

The only main boss I didn't enjoy was the titan. I basically just stood in front of it and crystal blasted until he died - his attacks did barely any damage so the only one i bothered dodging was the jump which knocks you over... But that may be thanks to my high spell protection.

The story was pretty good - I agree that the people you're helping don't seem like they really deserve it! I was a little disappointed there wasn't more backstory to specific events, but it was still nice.

Overall, I really enjoyed it - it took me much longer than expected, but It was a lot of fun. I didn't die as much as I expected, and it felt really good to finish it!

Then I tried Selene's web and Longclaw killed me about 10 times in half an hour before I gave up. I still need practice!

Hehe. After all these years, a surprising number of players still don't understand the Ghost boss, ruining countless No Death possibilities in the process. :D
The blue beam he puts on you reflects damage. When he has the beam on you, do not damage him, because you will get all of your damage back on yourself.
He has rather low health, so you can tickle him to death with direct damage attacks and stop when he has the beam, and try to heal through it if you have some damage still ticking.
