When/If CP is phased out will all level 50 gear just turn into the same gear?

I really hope that something like this will happen. The CP removal/rework/replacement is the perfect opportunity to fix the mess that is crafting materials.
It's a bit weird that we in ESO have all this fancy material like "Rubedite" and "Voidstone" that the people in the future (the other games) don't even use/know of, so if we just removed material levels beyond that and turned all Rubedite into Ebony, that would be great. Doesn't mean gear needs to be lvl50 afterwards, but it's just a bit strange that the toughest materials aren't the ones we know from other games.

Brigandine is probably the worst offender of all the materials. Actual brigandine is not a type of leather armor, it's steel plates woven into a fabric. It's a metal armor!
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

I'm not sure about that last. From what I've read, brigandine can come in different forms-- "a garment, generally heavy cloth, canvas or leather, lined with small oblong steel plates riveted to the fabric." (From Wikipedia, emphasis added.) So my understanding is that one type of medium armor that shows up a lot in fantasy RPGs-- studded leather armor-- would be a type of brigandine. It isn't heavy metal armor; it's leather or cloth armor reinforced with studs or rivets or plates, etc.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

They really could just call it Level 51, 52 etc

    Or you know... VR1-VR16.

Id imagine CP is here to stay .

Brings up a good thought though. Could have certain materials effect crafted items differently. A flame staff made from ash might also improve recovery where as a flame staff made of birch might reduce attack speed a touch. Do something like this with all matetial and presto change'o we have another layer of grind to help with the games longevity and complexity. Yes i know the grind is annoying but most of it is a necessary evil. Transmute crystals for traits and some other kind of crystal for material to help alleviate that grind.

That's what I hoped they'd do when they transitioned from VR to CP.
Ebony should be the best metal there is, yet it's currently the most useless because it's relevant for the shortest level span.
All these different materials don't really add anything past level 50 anyway. If they want to keep higher gear levels beyond that point, they should just require more ebony to craft, or add a catalyst like Daedra Hearts.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

Those of us that have been around for a while already know what to expect if Zos completely replaces CP. When Zos changed gear rating from vet levels to CP v16 conveniently became CP 160. We can expect a similar type of change if it becomes required. Literally, only the label changed, our gear did not.

Glad to share that knowledge with Knowledge.

They should NOT remove CP. It is a cool system only found in this game. They should simply expand it with something else.

I agree. I hope they give the trees more depth, and more choices. So, they need to add more stars we can spend on rather than add more points. At this time, adding more points might allow some people to fill out all the constellations. The original design of CP is to provide choice, but that has been nullified since we've been able to get past 500 or so.

A CP crafting tree would also be nice. Where we could change crafted sets in different ways such as:
    • Change a damage type from one thing to another on crafted proc sets: fire to frost or poison for example.
    • Improve chances of a proc going off on crafted sets by x%.
    • Reduce needed mats by x%.
    • % chance to have style materials refunded. (important for rare style items)

First point - IF champion points were actually removed at this point, a lot of people would be very vexed, and thus I doubt that will ever happen. Reworked, yes, adjusted, yes, removed no. Become less effective, grenerate less of a gap, maybe also expand to give people more to spend CP on (like non-combat perks) while making the "diminishing results" mechanic more limiting... I suspect they are busy thinking about ways.

So I expect a rework of the system, but nothing worse, since if you took away the CP a great many people found their joy playing for... you might also loose a lot of those people. NOT something ZOS could want. Nor we, since loosing too many people playing (& paying) might spell the impeding end of ESO.

    ...

Second point - who knows? It would be entirely possible to decouple the gear system from the level/CP system entirely, much like has already happened with soul gems (remember when those were still levelled?). I mean, pretty everything on the gear effects get battle-levelled anyhow, right? If they wanted to put in the work, they could make it into something... completely different!

Like, reduce all crafting to just five materials (like jeweller), make ALL gear "levelless" and just add an extra bonus for the material.
For example... Iron sword and mail gets base damage/protection in metallic-darkgrey; steel gets +2% in metallic-bluewhite; orichalcic gets +4% in metallic-greenish; then "dwemer bronze" gets +6% to all in metallic-brownish; and ebony gets +8% to everything in metallic-blackish...
...since we already can recolor the metal to whatever we like for those who really, really want red swords... (citing the fluff that those colors are just alloys of the base metals with some manner of "for effect" trace metals or somesuch, or what/when you cool the metal from, or laquering armor, or... or.... or... - whatever, right?)

Same for the other craftings. Could be done, would work well with the battle-levelling system... and it would mean ALL gear works for ALL advancement, more or less, making for a lot less quest rewards just thrown away... And reduceds the clutter in the non-crafting baggers inventory.

Will thes choose to do this? Dunno. Their choice.
