Northern and Southern Elsweyr World boss Dilemma

Does anyone else find it difficult to get the world bosses completed because everyone is always fighting the dragons? The geysers and dark anchors and soon to be harrow storms, dont seem to take away from getting the bosses done in other zones.

But the dragon fights are so difficult compared to the others group events that you can never get assistance with the other group content.

Anyone else have this issue?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The far out boss dailies can be a pain to wait for people sometimes. The dragon chasing is real though, but usually I drop a note in my guild chat and one or two will come and that’s all you really need so long as you both have decent CP. One to aggro and the other to DPS.

Like any content, to get everything done easy, get it when it comes out. Older content gets that requires a team or a raid gets harder and harder to get done.

They just aren't very good at designing this stuff. Problem is they try to make it challenging for a large group/zerg of players, especially since they zone will be busy when it's first out. But even then, the dragons and bosses are still zerg'd down to where you can ignore mechanics. So it ends up being too hard for a few players, and still no challenge for a group.

    This creates two issues:
    1. they've over-tuned most of those types of encounters so once things die down in the zone, it's super hard/impossible to do certain bosses or the dragons or geysers (harrowstorms will have this issue too, watch) with only a few people. And it's not our fault the zone is dead.

    2. they've allowed thousands of players to farm this content without learning anything about the mechanics by the time the next new thing is out, so even if you get a few people to help when the zone is slow, they dont' know how to do the fight.

I would love to see world bosses get the in battle flashing icon like the dragons do. You'd get so many more people dropping by if they look on the map and see action.

once northern elsweyr is no longer the current chapter, it will be harder to find groups to take down dragons since southern elsweyr has far more convenient wayshrines next to dragon spawns. Honestly, who decided that these wayshrines be so inconvenient?

Showing a marker on the map which bosses are up would be a game changer, like inigogo suggested.

I've also noticed the SElsweyr dragons go down a lot easier than the NElsweyr ones. I have a feeling that it'll soon be impossible to get a group to take a dragon down in the north despite that quest potentially dropping motifs.

Older DLC has already done that - it's hard to get a group to take on one of the Hew's Bane bosses unless you coordinate with a guild. Same with non-starter-non-trading hub base game zones. In contrast, it's pretty easy to find people taking on the bosses in the Gold Coast, probably since the Minotaur/Order Hour motifs only drop from the boss quests.

Isnt southern elsweyr currently the last zone released?

The easy solution is forming a group to do the WB fights. Forming the group from guild is the best course of action but zone works just as well.

What kind of objection is this? It is not acceptable. I want to be able do content I bought, details should not stop me.

I'm glad others like the idea! Seems like a simple QoL improvement that would refresh quieter zones and help people out.

I always write in zone chat when a boss is up that I'm trying to do. What's wrong with communication?

The sets they drop are not optimal.

    Dragons have purple furnishing drops.

And one of those bosses was designed to troll causal groups.

The sets are ok for new players, but all of the gear you find is Elsweyr is high end starter gear. Its possible to get a decent set of blue gear for a low level player just by tagging along provided they can actually stay alive long enough. I show up now and again to help people kill stuff to get their achievements but I don’t t stick around endlessly farming because I’ve got so much other stuff to do.

The bosses though I find most ignoring them and I can’t pull a couple of low level guys through those fights alone. With another decent CP player it’s possible though but trying to fight sword master, grave prowler or zalsheem with 2 lv12 guys by your side doesn’t end well for any of us!

What's wrong is when you ask in zone chat politely many many times and get no one offering to help. Idk your platform but I'm xbox one. And I only play primarily at night like 11pm westcoast.

And I only get like 2 hours maybe to play so when I've spent 30 minutes asking for help on a world boss and get nothing, then ya I'm frustrated and would want a solution to my problem.

I do communicate. Often. And I have a keypad so my sentences are often more developed on the xbox chat then alot of people's. So it's clear and concise the help I need and where and when I'm in need of it.

And yes to cover base I ask guild chats too.

    So when you use communication.
    Ask in zone
    Ask in guild
Wait and repeat over and over.
    To no avail.

What is the solution then hmm?

Just give up? Cause that's what I've been resorting too.

In my experience, people just assume others should be there to help them. Southern Elsweyr is always busy on PC-EU, but Northern Elsweyr can have all dragons spawned and not attacked UNTIL someone aggros one first. Then it seems a dozen players crawl from under a rock and attack the beast. I've tried writing in zone chat that I'm going to aggro a specific dragon and for people to join, and sure enough, people join. So maybe ask for help? This IS a massively multiplayer game. Same for world bosses: when people ask for help in zone chat, and more so when they offer to share the daily quest, someone will come to help out eventually.

[EDIT]BTW, all world bosses in Northern Elsweyr can be soloed relatively easily with a proper build, so there's an opportunity to hone your skills. The lightbringer WB in Southern Elsweyr is easy to solo. The only one I've never been able to solo is Ri'Atahrashi, because of his adds.

As far as soloing goes I run a lot of healers with some damage gear for overworld. Not out to kill everything alone on all my toons.

    1. Totally agree on the flashing world boss up indicator... would help encourage players to join.. this would be helped by

    2. Intelligent location of weyshrines . The ones in Elsweyr are very poorly located and the world bosses there, like dragons, are a pain in the arse to get to. It makes it harder to get to them and much less inviting for players who might be willing to join in. There’s a reason why loads of players are doing the dragons in Southern Elsweyr and almost none are doing them in Elsweyr.

    3. Better design for World Bosses. There is literally no point in having world bosses that no one can be bothered to fight. They need to have better, more scaleable mechanics. WBs like Keelsplitter and the Elsweyr monk are simply too overwhelming for even small groups... but just overwhalloped by large ones... at least geysers and dolmens scale

    4. Reduced expectation from some players that overland content, especially repeatable overland content, needs to be trials boss hard. It might provide them with a couple of fun moments on launch day, but they’re not going to be doing it 30 times three months after release

Nothing is wrong with zone chat, just as long as players have it on display or you run into the situation where a group of idiots are talking smack (which happens everyday) and the zone text scrolls quickly, it could be easily missed.

When people ask for world boss help, it goes one of two ways for me.

    Situation 1:
    Player asks for help.
    I respond omw.
I fast travel and haul ass as fast as the game will let me get there.
Arrive to see a couple of players standing on some fresh corpses.

Situation 2: Rock up to help someone take down Kung Fu Kitty and the two of us wait and wait with no one else remotely interested in taking down that jerk.

I want to help but I don't enjoy having my time wasted time and time again.

You've basically stated the conundrum that I think ZoS is in as well. A lot of overland content players were mad that they could solo the WBs in the base game and some of the DLCs. So they've bumped up the difficulty in newer zones, and now players are mad that they cannot solo these WBs. Obviously, the glory that comes with killing a dragon is greater than anything else so you see the problem amplified even more in the North/South Elswery zones. It's a lose-lose situation.

In DLC zones - If I can not tackle on my own I usually ask in zone and say that I have a quest and people appear

In base game zones, it is a bit trickier. But I saw most of the time people who didn't complete them like me so we killed together. Or I asked help from zone/guildies.

Just solo them, they aren't particular hard and they don't even have any mechanics to them above the level of "don't stand in stupid".

Good advice - except for the fact that a significant chunk of players CAN'T solo world bosses and they ARE particularly hard to them.

In Southern I've never had a solo WB fight. What time of day are you trying to do it?

Usually have to solo Northern WBs, sometimes another one person shows up.

Don’t forget situation number 3: help arrives and boss disappears into a cloud of mist for the next 15 minutes. Happened to me 3 times last week.

The worst is hauling ass for a dragon and coming over the hill activating buffs, bow in hand and dragon dies before your first arrow lands. Especially sandblown dragons scour. That’s the hardest run no matter which Wayshrine you are coming from.
