Are ZOS doing this to close the game down or wth is going on?
The game are so broke now, both pvp and pve after update 25 and nothing for fixing it?

PLEASE take down the server for a month or even longer if u need just to fix this game. A YEAR if thats gonna fix this.
Still a grudge, only to see false what u want and nothing less.

There will never be a fix for lag, because Zos simply doesn't know how to fix it, or they are unwilling to spend the money to fix it.

If you play this game, that's just the reality you have to face. It is what it is. I don't like it either, that's why I'm branching out to other things.

Lag will never be fixed. That's just hard truth.

Actually there is a slight fix in the patch notes. I wouldn't hold my breath, and it doesnt sound very impactful anyway; but it's there.

Yo do realise that Q1 Q2 and Q3 patches main focus is fixing lag right? It might not have been very successfull this quarter due to the main focus was reducing the game size and removing useless code which has made the game laggier. We can only hope that the greymoor patch comes with some lag fixes as well instead of destroying the game like last patch.

Trust me, knowing how corporations work, I am sure the smart tech guys at zos probably already have a solution(s) to the problems. However, the solution(s) probably costs more money to implement than the suits at zos would like. That's why we the customers are still waiting for the fix.

Take down Cyrodiil by all means, and Trials/dungeons too if they're unplayable and those who play those parts of the game are in agreement with the idea. However, there's no reason to take down the rest of the game which is fine, even on PC EU, for most players judging by the record numbers in the game.

I wanted to just facepalm this idea; but you know what? I think it could be telling in a few ways. One being on whether they can get by without the end game. The other being what overland would look like if those players actually stayed and flooded those areas rather than Cyrodiil or raids.

The wording in the patch notes is:
Made some improvements that should slightly decrease the amount of crashes and general lag in areas with lots of combat.
Note the words "some", "should" and "slightly". Crashes and lag will still occur. They might have a proper fix for this coming, but this is not it.
Incidentally, this is a clear admission that there is a significant problem with crashes and lag in areas with lots of combat.

Wait. The 125GB I had to download the other day was ESO after the size was already reduced?!

It wouldn't make much of a difference if any as the overwhelming majority of players are already in the overland areas. Those who only do PvP or raids are a very small minority in any MMO and in the case of ESO a lot of the PvPers do battlegrounds and duels anyway. In any event, I'm sure ZOS will sort out the endgame, we know what they're doing and the timescale for doing it, so the idea of closing down the game while they work on that is a non-starter, my point was simply that if that were considered there'd only be a point in closing the failing part of the game rather than the whole including the working part.

Also chats are delayed, guildbank accessibility is questionable and searching traders can take minutes. Like broken trial instances wasn't enough.

Plus new kind of crash introduced, when at the crafting station you can lose skin texture entirely and crash in couple of seconds, depending on overall lag. Gg as always zos.

    Obviously pc eu.

@ZOS_GinaBruno so any word about how much should we wait until game is playable?

The lag is not getting fixed. They would need to spend a fortune upgrading servers as well as game coding to make a change and this late into the game’s lifecycle and that’s not going to happen. Best thing to do is to either quit the game or move to less populated campaigns if you play PvP. Can’t comment on PVE performance because I don’t play that much anymore but from what I’ve heard there are many issues there too.

From my point of view this patch is no improvement - the game is far more laggy than yesterday and it takes several minutes to get zoned in. Eventually there are more playing today than yesterday, but we basically see that this is about the limit and if ZOS wants to expand this game, they really have to invest into servers, database (this one is either not a good one or used very inefficiently) and especially people, who know their stuff, real professionals, with enough experience in how to code something like this, especially if they want to fix it by parallel programming (where a whole lot can go wrong and given the experience that ZOS did ignore common paradigma in the past, they might just do it here as well), it requires people with experience in the field and a record of success to have actually done it before - put more money into your work force, ZOS.

A couple years ago, I said the same thing, with the caveat that they might do it as part of development of a new MMO game. Today, ZOS is actually spending the money on performance. Yeah, it is broken, at the moment, but it is broken because they are spending money on performance. People see 'broken' as "ZOS can't fix their game" but I see that is "ZOS is fixing their game". It just takes time, and because of the way ZOS rolls out updates, we get to see it sooner, when it works, and the bugs, when it doesn't.

A lot of this will never satisfy some people, either. They will never get the latency low enough, or the FPS high enough, to satisfy every vocal corner of the player community. Much of what people call lag is never going to change. That can be caused by a number of things, from local crappy internet (which no one has  ), to internet routing, to the DDoS service they have to use because people on the internet are jerks, to the fact that they are running centralized megaservers rather than regional servers. ZOS is not going to "fix" those things.

For me, it is not better or worse. Loading into the game seems to be the same. Zone-to-zone seems to be the same. Combat seems to be the same. Whatever they fixed, it was not problem that was on my radar.

I think when we watch videos like this one and many others posted; calling it lag is not accurate. Slow walk like in this video, others with complete location desync, random loading screens which occur heavier in specific areas, crashing. We call a lot of lag for simplification and it clearly is bad code. The game is more like a very early beta than it is one that is just lagging.

You do realise that the game size is not 125GB, but requires you to have 125GB of FREE SPACE on your hard-drive to be able to download the game. The actual size of the game was 64.22GB in update 25 on the PC/MAC version of the game. The size got reduced from the previous 100GB.
