the great galley of dolmens...

Here we are, doing the dolmens at AliK'r is a real ordeal on this game, most of the mobs that appear we don't even have time to see them, this area is so invaded by players, so we can't even type them or it gives this impression.

Wouldn't it be high time to rework the ESO dolmens?

The problem isn't with the dolmens themselves, it's just that they are one of the best grinding spots - it's not the best EXP/hour, but you do get a lot of loot to decon, including a guaranteed jewelry piece from the chest.

It does not help that fully levelling a character in ESO is such a tedious grind, especially if you do not "power level" like that.

No matter what is done, the dolmen grinders will still be grinding. Even if you nerf the dolmen rewards to Oblivion, all you are doing is just pushing the problem elsewhere.

I especially think that the mob should be at a type 160 level than what they are at the moment.

Not to forget the small players and solo players there are zones where mobs teleport themselves from time to time (sorry I don't know what it's called, mini-dolmen?) why not give some interest to this for individual players, although I think the HL should be a priority because we all end up being at this level!

Rework them so no one uses them anymore? They work just fine that why they’re so popular and Elsweyr dragons are a ghost town

They are excellent for a great way to fill up those soul gems you've been stealing. Works for me.

"Reworking" them would only cure the symptom instead of the cause.

Unfortunately, probably the only good way to "fix" this would be to go the P2W route and sell level-ups in the clownstore. I'm sure a lot of people would pay good money to not deal with this crap, myself included. (currently levelling 6 characters to lvl50 on PC-NA... ugh)

If you see a meteor aoe on the ground slowly growing larger, toss out an aoe. I’ve come to learn that when it gets really busy from dolmen farmers, mobs can’t be seen. That’s when I just use the meteor aoe’s as a tell for finding invisible mobs.

I don’t believe dolmens need to be reworked. The xp is solid and the rewards aren’t too bad either. However, it’s not the absolute best way to grind xp. If it was, alik’r wouldn’t be the only zone with dolmens being farmed by massive groups.

I like to think of Alik’r dolmen grinding as a public way to grind xp. It’s great for players who find themselves without a buddy to farm skyreach, or find that spellscar is much too crowded.

While that would be nice it could kill off the dolmen groups with nothing to replace it with. If the crown store becomes meta then newer players or players with no money will have a more difficult time leveling. I could be wrong there are alternatives but dolmens are simple and you don’t need to know much about the game to grind.

Who cares, leave the people grind. Alikr is designated place for that and they don't bother people in any other zone.
If OP have some other plans or fetishes for dolmens, there a 3 in every other zone.

Not to mention that OP didn't explain in one single sentence why is this a problem for him, except it is a "real ordeal" whatever that means.

Personally I never grind dolmens as it is boring AF, but since everyone is containing that stuff in one zone and not plaquing the game in general, what's the freaking problem. Find some other dolmens to play with, they are all the same.

I've NEVER understood the fascination with Alikr dolmens. There's another zone with Dolmens that are a) closer to the wayshrines and b) have a chance at dropping FAR better rewards. Yet Alikr has balls of 25+ players running laps 24/7 and the better zone is empty.

    Good question.
But then again, if you are levelling to 50 then the "better rewards" don't matter - everything is decon trash at that stage.

Also, that "better zone" is not exactly empty - last week on PC-NA there were many (12+) players farming these dolmens in the same way as in the Alik'r, but there wasn't a formal group involved. And it wasn't even primetime yet!

I like dolmens how they are. Alikr is for ball groups that want to race from one to the other rapidly and burst close them for leveling speed. Thankfully, that is largely confined to the one zone, which is good form those who want that and good for those who don't want to close dolmens with 100 of their closest friends. Lol.

I avoid Alikr dolmens and it is a small price to pay to have that craziness confined mostly to one set of dolmens. Most dolmens I close have between 0 and 5 or so other players when I close them.

    Leave dolmens alone. :)
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

because all of Alik'r's dolmens are very close to the oratories which makes it easy to grind

There's 2 other zones with almost the same distance on average between the dolmens and wayshrines (which I assume is what you mean with oratories).

Generally though, only time I did dolmens for more than an hour was when Summerset hit and I wanted to level JC for my first character. Got 11 characters at lvl 50 in total and for the last few I've mostly done the power leveling through master writs since it's much faster than farming dolmens.

Funny how some are packed and overcrowded while you are forced to solo others. It’s as if most people don’t want to experience any of the content outside of power leveling the easy/convenient stuff.

Maybe because "power leveling" actually takes some time and "experiencing the content" is a one-and-done deal?
