It makes it sound like there is an artificial mechanism that requires a group. The same article, however, also says "It is even possible to solo a dungeon."
My question then, is is possible to enter these dungeons with two or three people rather than the required four and still be able to complete it with extra work?

✭✭✭✭✭Depends on the dungeon.
But, for the most part, you can easily 2-man most of them on normal, and a good chunk of them on vet can be done with 2- and 3- man groups.
