Get a wide screen monitor. It will help you see more around you. However, 3rd person view will always be far superior since we can see our feet and even behind us. That is something is obviously not going to be the case with FP view and it is a choice players make.
You're right, it's not. It's an Elder Scrolls game. Did you think that argument through?xXMeowMeowXx wrote: »I think it is a nice option they added but it is not D2 or COD.

What I don't get is as a PS4 player the game automatically starts off in 1st person view. If the game is designed around 3rd person view you would think that the game would start off in 3rd person view.

Also, in harder content or PvP I want to see around me in third person, as much as, possible by zooming the camera out. This is the same for the majority of players in ESO that I know of.
I think it is a nice option they added but it is not D2 or COD.

The first testers kept asking for first person. I'm thankful they did. I play in first person only, unless the game won't allow it, like for riding. Personal opinion only; using third person is cheating, basically. I don't want to be able to see the complete area around my character, behind rocks and around corners. Exploiting being able to see npcs behind cover, or behind my character rather spoils things for me. In a game like Dragon Age: Origins, where you're directing a group, using the tactical view doesn't bother me. Elder Scrolls isn't a game I'd be able to play only in third person.

When a game is in first person and others ask why not 3rd person as well. The answer is always no. So for ESO - NO. 3rd person should be top dog.

No one said otherwise. I asked for improvements. A "NO" for that as well?
3rd is the focus and me as everyone gets that, I think.
But there's nothing wrong with ironing out some issues with first person view. This is an Elder Scrolls game and as we can see in this thread, many people benefit from a decent 1st person view.

Not if it gets in the way of improving other things.

Been playing like that for ages, in every TES game and as well in any game that allowed me to do so. It adds so much to the immersiveness, which is a powerful feature of ESO, even it being an MMO.
Look, we have houses, emotes, role-playing guilds and many more features that contributes to immersion as well as a better gameplay experience. I just wish that FP would be one of these. As of right now, it's quite hard to PvP and even PvE using it.
So, I would like to say that request improvements to the first person view. As many aspects of the game gets improved in the course of ESO's existence, FP deserves some love.
Problems:1. It has a narrow fov, that even at "130", it's indefinitely inferior to third person fov.
Comparison:
First person
Third person
2. "View model" fov is too small. By that, I mean how much do we see of the arms and the weapons and how to close they are to the "eyes".
While dual wielding doesn't get in the way, it does look weird
3. Some effects completely obstructs the view
4. Treasure hunter personality doesn't appear in FP
Walking backwards shows some weird flames
The torch does appear when you loot something, which doesn't make sense. Can't remember anything else right now but I'm sure I will while playing.
I don't know how much resources would be required for the devs to do this though I guess it isn't much.
What do you guys and gals think?

2nd person would be how everyone else sees you, essentially it'd be like 3rd person except with the camera facing your front instead of the back. I imagine it'd be difficult to navigate, much less fight in a mode like this.
I played in 1st person when I started the game since that's how I played Skyrim and Oblivion. I even PVPed for a while in first person. However it eventually became clear, at least to me, that I would not be able to keep this up long term and be successful. In PVP in particular you lose a lot of situational awareness in 1st person.
I still think 1st person is great for overland content which is generally easy enough that the decreased perception is mostly harmless. I can't go back anymore though.
