Advice on these two classes for theme

KestrelFive
Hello all,

I am looking to make two new stamina classes, one sorcerer and one necromancer. However, I’m a bit torn between what race and faction to make them. I always try to kind of “fit” a new class to a faction and race from a thematic perspective. I also eventually want to make the magicka counterparts eventually, and if I have a stamina variant on one faction, I try to make the magicka variant on the other, if that’s makes sense. Of the below, which one “fits better” thematically, in your opinion? Also I’m not necessarily going for best race, but I do want a race that will somewhat enhance the class for PVE and some casual PvP, and not hurt the class build. The two factions I play are Ebonheart and Aldmeri, (friends/guilds, etc) and I would greatly welcome your advice! Which of these two combos is the best in your opinion from a thematic and gameplay race/class synergy perspective?

Pact: Stam Necro Orc, Dunmer/Altmer Mag Sorc
Dominion: Stam Sorc Khajiit, Altmer/Breton Mag Necro

OR:

Pact: Stam Sorc Orc, Altmer/Breton Mag Necro
Dominion: Stam Necro Khajiit, Altmer Mag Sorc

Thank you!

(Does anyone else do something similar in terms of “balancing” their classes/factions? Or is this just overthinking it?) :P

Dude, just pick races. Since you want it to be "thematic," then it is up to you for what best fits your "theme." All races can perform well in all classes. At the end of the day, as long as you have the skills necessary, class only matters if you want to be the best of the best. I won't say you won't be missing a lot of damage if you go Breton Stamsorc, but do you care that much? Because if you really cared, you wouldn't be asking, you would just being going Orc for any stamina character, Altmer for any magicka character, and Dunmer if you want to be able to switch between mag/stam reliably.

Stam Necro Orc is very powerful, and Altmer/Dunmer Mag Sorc isn’t bad either. I’d go with that combination. Magicka Necromancer is the least fun build in the game, constantly fighting buggy abilities and without enough damage potential to justify the pain. Stam Sorc is also not in a great place, especially in group content where they bring nothing useful to a team.

I like my argonian necro. the racial passives synergize well with necro tankyness. And the race allows me to flip to magicka (i tried, prefer stam). Themeatically the scales are almost bone like

I so recommend Stam Sorc Orc for the ridiculously fast movement speed when you combine the speed bonuses from Stam Sorc skills with Orc racial passives

Khajiit Necromancers also get a cool Goliath (necro ult) appearance with a Khajiit skull and tail

You probably already know this, but Khajiit/Dunmer can also go stam or mag if that helps complicate your decision

Thank you all for the replies! Does the Orc speed bonus really make a difference, I.e., is it really noticeable on top of the stamsorc hurricane speed boost?

I definitely want one of my stam characters to be a Khajiit but the Orc passives are just so I insanely good...especially the recover health by doing damage. How noticeable are these, and how much a difference do they make? I’m essentially just trying to decide if Stamcro or StamSorc benefits more from the Orc passives, and which one relies less on the Orc passives.

If you want to make both a StamSorc and a StamCro, an Orc and a Khajiit, Orc StamSorc and Khajiit StamCro is the way to go in my opinion.

Khajiit, despite mostly being an all-around race, have superlative Crit Damage and Healing from Feline Ambush, which has fairly strong synergy with the Necro passives Death Knell and Near Death Experience.

On any class, the sprint bonus of Orc is noticeable. There's really no way around it: Orc is the best race for Stam, and the least likely to have you second guessing your race choice.

The auto-heal thing is really weak. It's the equivalent of 150 HP Regen in PvP, and Khajiit has 100 passive HP Regen, with Stam and Mag regen as well.

In my view, the only utility of the Orc auto-heal is to proc various "when you heal yourself" effects. This can easily be replaced by an Absorb Health enchant, or any Poison with a heal, for only slightly less proc frequency.

Orc Stam Sorc and Khajiit Stam Necro for sure.

Orc increases sprint movement speed and weapon damage. Stam Sorcs can have higher weapon damage modifiers because of +2% per Sorc ability slotted. In pvp, Stam Sorcs can sacrifice more sustain for weapon damage since dark deal can provide bursts of stamina through a magicka dump. Hurricane adds 10% movement speed, orc adds 10% sprint speed, Medium Armor adds 15-21% sprint speed, base sprint speed is +40%. This means a sprinting orc stam sorc in 6 medium will run at 188% movement speed, just 12% under max value. 7 Medium and CP increases this 188% to 193%.

Khajiit increases crit damage. Necro can get 100% crit chance to targets below 25% health giving them a good chance to utilize this passive better than most classes. Necro also features +200 stam/mag regen which aligns well with the +85 stam/mag regen from Khajiit.

If you want some good quality thematic pve sets for stam sorc, I've been using orc, Relequen (mini tornado, best in slot body set), Aegis Caller (summoned aegis that spins with aoe wind blades, replaces best in slot Lokke front bar, great aoe damage, lower single target damage), and Stormfist monster set (Shock/Physical aoe fist summoned from the floor). It's actually very competitive because with an Orc and these sets providing +258 stamina regen through their set bonuses, I'm able to drop sustain food for bi-stat food. This helps make up for the loss in some damage specific set bonuses from Lokke + Velidreth or something + sustain food.
