Should PVP be tied to ESO plus? If it was all the [Snip] would at least have a leg to stand on (being paying customers) and not be free players adding to the lag. This could stop both the lag and the forum spam about the lag in one update.

It cannot be so the question is pointless. Cyrodiil is part of the base game so it comes with the purchase of the game. Zos made BGs part of base game as well.

Of the more avid PvP players that are actually doing PvP because they enjoy it, not for the transumation crystals, no one that will say actually knows what percentage subscribes. So the statement is not verifiable.

Further, it is highly questionable that most buy the chapters as the BG population grew considerably after it became part of the base game. It is the only system locked behind a chapter I can recall being added to the base game vs sold in the crown store.

I would be shocked if any sweeping generalization from these forums turned out to be accurate.

I don't think it's knowable or provable by anyone but ZoS what are the various characteristics of who pays, plays, subscribes, and does what.

I also think it's highly unlikely that even if they could theoretically figure all that out - that they would. The kind of statistics that are presented to the forums are things like "Z percent of players do Y" or "the median number of CP is X" and these kind of generalized statistics cannot be assembled to come up with any definitive detailed patterns
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

[Snip]. Yeah I PvP. ZOS knows my order history. I bought Linchal, Daggerfall Overlook, and that dueling arena and countless other things with crowns. I bought Morrowind. I pre-orderd Summerset. I pre-ordered Elsweyr. And even though I got a refund for Greymoor, I pre-orderd THAT the DAY it was available.

My complaints are not merely that of a paying customer; rather, they are that of a DISGRUNTLED. PAYING. CUSTOMER....who, in truth, LOVES this game...when it works.

We and most others are on the very same page. We love it when it works, but are terribly sad and disheartened that its like it is now.
I just felt like underlining this seems neccessary unfortunately.

No. The game should just work. Can’t they fix it? Then shut it down.

No more groundbreaking changes. No more cash out options. No more trinkets. And just stop with the micro transactions - none of us are so oblivious that we can’t figure it out.

    ^^this^^

I also mainly PVP, but i too sub, spend a lot of money in the crown store. I won't buy Greymoor until the game works at the very least as well as it did in Dragonhold.
I wouldn't feel my right to complain was any less valid if i didn't spend money though.
It is as you said the annoyance comes from the fact you love this game, but it is broken.
My expectations on large scale PVP is pretty low and I expect it to be a bit laggy.
When buttons don't work at all and they did one month a go before these changes we should complain.

I don't feel a sense of urgency from the dev's at the moment.
Just @ZOS_GinaBruno having to make vague responses to threads.
It would make such a difference if someone would take ownership of this issue and post an official statement.

On one hand no, because the pool of PvP players is so small.

On the other yes, because that’s not my experience of PvP players (or ESO+ subscribers) and certainly not the impression conveyed by many of the posters here who gleefully declare that they haven’t paid/won’t pay ZOS any money ever

In terms of OP’s suggestion, it would kill PvP. They couldn’t keep Battlegrounds behind a chapter paywall due to low numbers, they can’t keep PvP behind a paywall for exactly the same reason.

And ‘fixing’ PvP won’t be a bonanza for ZOS in terms of bringing in new ESO+ subscribers, it will just increase the number of $5 freeloaders, who seem to believe that a small one time payment entitles them to lifelong server performance.

No, very much no. SWTOR decided for some brilliant reason to severely restrict PvP access for FTP players. This had the effect on the game that there was too few PvP players, which in turn meant that PvP got worse for paying players (I was one of them at the time). While the lack of content was a reason why most left SWTOR, the decision on almost no PvP for FTP meant that a lot of players stopped playing the game for that very reason. I left that game in large part because the PvP got stale due to the lack of FTP players there.

Restricting content from FTP is a bad idea in general, you cut off players and friends from each other. And if a few of your friends who are FTP stop playing the game (which is basically what you encourage them to do when restricting content) because of it, you have less reason to stay which will drain the paying player base as well.

The problem isn't that the players are playing in Cyro, the problem is that Zos aren't really showing any interest in improving performance there and are atrociously bad at communicating with the PvP community which makes players even more frustrated.

Tie ESO+ to Cyro will just confirm kill to an already dying community.

Also income per player should have no impact on whether or not ZOS put the effort in to ‘fix’ PvP. They need to have the courage to either get behind PvP and invest time (and money) in resolving the issues, or admit that they can’t be bothered to address PvP in a serious way.

I hope they get behind it and make the effort.. I imagine it will be a long road and hard, but I think it would be worth it.

If they pvp they've paid for the game since ESO is buy to play. Which by default makes them paying customers. Try agaim.

ESO+ is not the problem on its own. If at all then the question should be: Should a player pay for all of his accounts a ESO+ sub ?

But, to be on topic about the "forum spam" etc. .. in Cyrodiil and on the PvP forum the meaning of PvP is Politics vs. Players. And its politics copied from really bad movies.

I am not much of a PVP player and I am a subscriber, Cyrodiil is part of the base game no amount of hot air generated on the forums is going to cause that to change nor do I think it should be changed people bought the game even if they payed next to nothing just for the base game.

They have bought the game and have just as much right to play it and expect a game with decent performance as any subscriber does.

Everyone playing is a paying customer smarty pants. Even if you don't do ESO plus, you still had to purchase the game. And if you look at the amount of wardens and necros running around at this point, it's obvious many are buying chapters too.

Sure. So long as they make sure that they also require subs for PvE so players have to pay for the content as well when it is broken. Good way to kill a game.

Viper is right. I PvP more now and most of the PvPers I meet are ESO+ subscribers. They may not spend much for cosmetic items in the crown store, (although I've seem some who do), PvPers are willing to spend that $12 per month to make their game lives easier with ESO+.

It doesn't matter anyway, we all bought the game and are entitled to play it - with or without ESO+ - and those not subscribing are no lesser players, they just chose not to subscribe and that is fine as well.

Ignorant question is ignorant. A better one would be: should a subscription have remained mandatory for everyone? I would say yes. Monetisation through subscription means the game needs to stay good enough to remain subbed. Monetisation though in-game purchases means the game need only be a window into the store. This is the last time a publisher gets me via the bait and switch of mandatory sub MMOs going B2P.
