Soooo i was wondering... ESO at this time is slowly loosing playerbase and if we will see no fix soon, there will only be left few k players.

Let me say, i am not here to promote any games.. but in good month, new MMO comes out. If this mmo will have positive reviews from beta (april) we will see huge migrations of players...

I love ESO, still play it.. but i think they are really walking here on thin ice.

how does your loaded title mix with keep it constructive? A constructive discussion if the game will die? What pointless nonsense...besides, whats even your data for saying the player base is dwindling since steam data says the opposite...

New world lacks in the magic and pve parts, it cant replace eso, while i do believe it will be a good game, it is too pvp focused for me, and many eso players

Eso is now 6 years old. This game struggles to attain its players, maybe because of this reason.
Look at achievement percentages. Even Zos knows people come back for chapters then disappears again.

ES 6 is definitely a threat. People say that single player games and an MMO have different audiences so ES 6 won’t affect eso. Obviously people are going to drop out to play ES 6.

Eso is a great game but people are getting bored

It has such poor performance precisely because it's popular, meaning the servers are working past capacity at peak hours. Just try EU-PC in the evening. If it were dead you wouldn't have those latency issues.

ESO pvp already quite dead outside of primetime. And its laggy all the time now. I kinda quit a year ago, but I still play from time to time, but its rarely fun due to lagg so I log in less and less. Its basicly the same with my friends who still play.

Depends on just how poor. A little lag time in your actions is relatively easy to adapt to. As long as you don't obsess over having perfect DPS numbers anyway.

you mean as with every long running mmorpg in the history of mmorpg's? color me shocked...

what zos has to do is

    a) keep regular pve updates coming in

    b) fix pvp performance and expand on pvp modes

Steam peak players... check ESO.... last 30 days -6% players... also if you take larger ammount you will see trend...

Now, this will go up when expansion comes out.. it will be up for 2-3months, than we are back in red numbers...

You can see trend, if you only want to...

This would seem to be another thread purporting to be about the overall playerbase but actually only related to the very small part of it that comprises those who only play the game for PvP. Judging by all the coverage to date, they won't find "the new game" to be any good, but either way it won't impact significantly on the viability of this game - which has already been written off in the past by the falsely anticipated success of both Wildstar and ArcheAge and the "mass" rejection of previous skill/combat changes. Yet here we are with loads of players wherever you go in the game, locked campaigns in Cyrodiil, and rising figures in the Steam charts, not to mention threads requesting free stuff for all the gamers flocking to the game while they're in self-isolation plus the servers creaking under the population load.

I don't think it will really die but state it is headed is not pretty and it makes me sad.

Perfomance and balance is in shambles, ZoS utterly *** on veteran players and on communty.

I love ES world but it is getting harder and harder to find joy in game and reasons to put up with this dreadful performance.

Eso will die as soon as there is an replacement for it.

Agree, if a new good mmo comes out a lot of people will switch to that.

In general, eso has a lot of problems, and the devs are not taking the necessarily steps to make the game better, and instead nerfing from time to time thinking it will keep things in check, but in reality it just makes the game worse.

What about champion points? They have been on hold for almost 2 years at this point? what about instead creating new mods to account for the power we usually gain from patch to patch? What about progression in an mmo? Will we instead regress in damage, and functionality each patch?

It's garbage, and i want the devs to know that. This game is heading towards a path of mediocrity. Well it already is pretty mediocre.

    Ah. Negativity threads.

We are currently living in a time where high stress levels are common, which has negative effects across the board. All of these things contribute greatly to what we see written in the forum, and when you combine that with lingering new problems from the latest update, it is easy to think negative about the game.

For the performance bugs that are outstanding right now, all of this world-wide stress could not have happened at a worse time. Performance bugs like this can be a bear to find and fix when everything is going good. It is probably going to take longer to address these things than it normally would. Even at "normal speed", such fixes come too slow for many people.

ZOS rolled out an update to PTS that included some combat ideas that they wanted feedback on. I think that if they had done this in January, the response would have been different. Today, with some players wondering what the future holds for them, and whether their lives will ever get back to normal, thinking about a big future change in the game combat just adds to the stress. Others, not so much.

The game devs will continue to work towards fixing bugs, fixing combat, improving performance. It is what they are paid to do, even if it is harder to do that right now. The results might not meet the expectations of everyone, but there will be results, and I think things will get better. Not perfect, but better.

Each person needs to do what they need to do to deal with what is going on, both in the game and in life. For some, that might mean leaving the game to go elsewhere. For others, it might mean leaving another game to come here. No game is perfect, and the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence.

For me, at a time when playing ESO for hours in not in the cards, I will sit back and wait.

Better question would be will ESO PVP die. I don't know but at least according to forums the pvp players say the lag/desync is horrible and the game is unplayable.

And the constant whining about the class X and skill Y being OP - and this will be always the fact in game Z.

So is ESO dying? I don't know, I'm pretty happily playing the PVE content at least. Only problem I have is that I would need to change my build every two months because of the changes and I don't quite enjoy that.

and I think it all depends on next chapter. If it is pathetic content wise as elsywer and performance is still not fixed, i think that will be the beginning of the end.
they are charging way way too much for their content when their competitors are giving 3-4 times as much content for the same price or less.

it's likely. the developers keep promising fixes that only make things worse, and surprisingly, the only part of the game that works with no problems is the crown store which makes them money. they're pretty much the ea of mmo's right now.

If they can't fix the lag then yeah for sure it will.

Even now most people I know are just treading water in ESO until another good MMO comes along. The only thing ESO really has going for it is the combat, and with the lag being as bad as it is, eventually even the combat isn't fun anymore.

If another MMO with good combat came along I'd be outta here. It's not fun doing trials or pvp when half your skills don't work, boss mechanics don't work, you get random 800+ ping lagspikes or never ending load screens.

but you don't acknowledge the reason WHY stress levels are high.

many people in the video-game sector are usually stressed out by a multitude of things, quick short answers would be : performance, repetitive grinds, pressure to make friends in an online game to be able to do more of the co-operative objectives, pressure to maintain said friendships, meeting standards set by the community (DPS requirements for example or builds) , fear of missing out on content if they dont join in when a DLC drops, the list goes on and on.

wanna know what links all this?

    the game industry.

they design games in specific ways with that in mind because it creates habbit forming a way to hook players long term, and if those players are big spenders they can sacrifice a handful of non-big spenders to hold onto this one. game becomes more designed with hooking small quantity of big spenders but creates an environment for the masses to not enjoy, enter the stressors.

all the above points can be made fun if the companies/devs chose to adapt it.
    but they dont.

    crappy performances dont detour whales.
