Miat's PVP Alerts. I mean seriously! Any addon like this should be removed and banned from the game....
LMAO. You should've seen what it could do before it was nerfed into Oblivion. :D

Agreed, before it was showing you Alliance numbers including players in stealth, pretty mind blowing stuff.
I was thinking more along the lines of its other main feature. You know, the one that rendered any ability with a cast time (or projectile travel time) effectively 100% worthless.

As others have stated, addons use what ever information they can that is made public through the api zos provides. Before Miat's gave a ton of notifications which I grant was pretty unfair and zos responded by changing the api to make that stuff private so addons could no longer access the information. If you feel like the addon is still doing some thing specific that is unfair, then by all means, feel free to urge zos to change things again but either way, it's not really cheating in the sense that zos is basically broadcasting this information for addons to pick up so you can't fault addons for doing just that.

I tried making the argument that add-ons were a greater cause of unfairness than so called "exploits," since at least exploits were part of the base game as it ships, while add-ons involve installation of additional custom scripts. These forum people did not agree. [snip]

As far as ZOS approving by releasing the API for use, when was the last time ZOS was ahead of the curve and not playing catch-up?

I am absolutely against addons like this.
It takes away all skill people have in pve and if I cast something against a player behind their back from a distance, from stealth without them being able to see or hear me and they can dodge just because an addon warns them, YES, that IS cheating. Because normally, they would get hit by it for they would never see it coming without this.

    Stop justifying your carry addon.
I hope Zenimax reintroduces skill by completely outlawing this.

Totally agree. Way too often you see things being dodged and we all know an add-on is telling them what to do in 3 2 1....

That's because it doesn't exist as such and so can't be abused.

    Developer Comments:

Addons will no longer receive BEGIN combat events in PvP areas if they target the player, and come from a hostile source."

That's from February -- of 2018. Any claims that an add-on can warn you of incoming PvP attacks against you are over two years out of date.

If you see someone can dodge everything with every hit. It's not because of any addon.
    It's shame on ZOS.

ESO is a paradise of cheaters. ZOS doesn't care about you. They only take care about cheaters.
    That's it. Used it.

It's 6 years. I can't see any hope in this game.
I'm not native speaker in English. I hope that I don't make you misunderstand.

Any officially published addons. (As far as saying officially goes) is fair game for any PC player. Many decent, and skilled players don't even use any addons for PVP. (In my case, I only use a kill counter.)

As for what's cheating, that's up to ZOS and their TOS. Not our opinions. If you don't like the addon, don't use it. I can promise you if you're skilled enough, you can handle yourself just fine without it, and even against opponents that likely use it. Exploits are more concerning than the dozens, perhaps hundreds of forums threads that say "Cheater, cheater!" about things like this IMO.

In my mind if you're more worried about someone having a upper hand on you rather than being competitive enough to defeat them, that's on you. Anyone who's played an FPS game has likely ran into a cheater. It's not the end of the world. If I found someone in CSGO Wallhacking, I know they have the visual advantage over me. But that doesn't mean they're a better player than I am.

I could face an aimbotter in Overwatch. They might be able to hit every headshot with any sniper character, but that doesn't mean that they have Gamesense or good positioning. While it isn't FAIR, that doesn't mean it isn't IMPOSSIBLE.

Voicing your concerns is a good and totally legitimate thing to do, you're indeed correct if you feel like it's unfair. But, there's a difference between cheating and this unfair play. If ZOS dictates this is allowed, then it is simply unfair. If they're doing something ZOS dictates isn't allowed, then they're cheating. You are able to download the same addon and receive the same benefits any player you encounter that uses this addon has.

Edit: I also forgot that the specific addons page is way out of date, and it doesn't work in that fashion anymore.

If you have to use an add-on for PVP you really need to take a long hard look at yourself.

[snip] Exploits involve using unintended, most times undocumented features or bugs. Add-ons are at the very least implicitly intended, since ZOS made the relevant API available. Although I think ZOS should look out for add-ons that give unfair advantages, abusing exploits is clearly worse IMO.

Could be even worse. There is script that provides some automatic input, like breakfree and dodge roll.

What about providing automated input based on these data then? That’s not cheating either? Isn’t aim assist in fps basically the same thing?

There is no access to combat inputs in API. So an "addon" is not capable of doing what you are describing. Same way as Miat's is no longer able of providing you with information about incoming attacks from stealth.

Some external "programs" are capable of doing what you are describing but they have nothing to do with "addons" and are already prohibited by ToS.
