Favorite quest decision

Hello!

I've seen a lot of negative threads in the forum lately, and wanted to start a fun thread.

I'd like to know what your favorite quest was that required making a choice that would permanently affect the game when completed. There are many quests in the game that require a choice, with some having more impact than others. What did you choose, were you happy with the result, especially if going in blind, and what memorable things did you take away from it?

(Spoiler warning from here on for those who have not completed certain quests)

The very first time I did the Mages Guild, for some odd reason I saved Valaste...
The numerous times since, she's happily accompanied Sheogorath to play with the butterflies, and I've been a couple of skill points richer ;)

The one in Summerset where you have to recite someone's obnoxiously long name. Except your mispronunciations are actually pretty funny. Too bad they didn't make something of it, like them clueing in that you were making fun of them.

Mages Guild final quest decision, because it was real, it had consequences.

Other quests kinda feel bland in comparesment. Often the decision narrows down to an NPC dying or going to jail... whatever you chose is irelevant, as that NPC vanishes from the game anyway. It is an ilusion of a choice, since if ZOS wants that NPC to come back - they will do that and the explanasion would be... It was Magick ! :D:joy:

My first adventure with Lady Laurent and Stibbons in Glenumbra - I could not help it but I brought the cursed crown back o:)

Thinking that the forgotten Senechal is now in Stibbons body made me always laugh when I met them later for other adventures :DB)

There's this quest where you have an enemy standing on top of a tower, and you can chose to let him live, or kill him by pushing him. I always choose the latter. Gives me great pleasure every time

I like telling the various ghosts that their centuries of wailing were a waste of time. Or i take away their favorite trinket. I am usually a nice guy, but disappointing a ghost pleases me.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I was about to say that one.

I hate Valaste. She robbed me of 2 skill points. And I wish the support could do something to fix that, like sending the book to my character or something, at least making the book account bound and not character bound. But well... :(

Saving Valaste is just for RP, you get NOTHING of interest for that choice.

There's not as many spots where there are meaningful quest decisions as I would like, but there's one that stands out in my mind for its dark humor.

In Grahtwood, there's a town that Sheo has taken over - Southpoint. During that quest, there's a certain segment where you have to deal with the town sot who has been granted the power of thunder, wind, and lightning. There, you are confronted with a choice: push him off the tower and kill him or talk him down by waging psychological warfare. They are both horrible options, and oddly dark in tone compared to most of the rest of the game. There's basically no "good guy" response.

This quest - https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:The_Grip_of_Madness - if you want to read the dialogue for it.

There are choices that matter in this game? 🤔

Hehe sorry for the salt on your positive thread- I think the "choices" are pretty superficial, but I get it it's hard in an mmo. I would have to say letting the ancient spirit possess stibbons. Then the next time you see him he says something like "shhh, thanks for keeping up the charade"

I don’t even RP but I can’t bring myself to choose the skill points. 😐
Heck, the only game I’ve ever been able to pick the non-goody goody option was Mass Effect and that’s only because some of the renegade interrupts are just too epic not to do.

    Let' see,

    Sacrificing Lyris,
    Telling Naryu to kill Veya,
Letting Razum-dar get buried in that elven ruin.

Oh, wait... none of those actually mattered because you play who ZOS wants you to play. Welp.

Yeah, I know it's tough since it's an mmo but there's gotta be some way to make player choice more of a real thing. I hate to take this thread in a complainy direction, but you know where I feel it worst?

Orsinium. First of all let me just say, orsinium had a great story. It had a very classic TES feel, and it was perfectly set up to give you a choice between playing through on the side of either malacath or trinimac. But no, no real choices that actually move the story, you just play the errand boy for whoever talked to you last.

What are the real consequences? I've only saved valaste. I know you get an extra skill point or two for not saving, but is there really any other difference?

even without those 2 skill points theres enough for everything in the game.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.
