About nightblades

Im going to make some enemies here, but I believe it needs to be said - nightblades do not deserve to be buffed.

I believe some of us have forgotten how bad the game used to be because of nbs, and how healthy it feels currently compared to having 3+ dudes sniping you with major defile at any given moment and delivering 40+ meter range stuns if that wasn’t enough. So what did they do? They have hunkered down for a bit let the dust settle and now they hope that we all have forgotten about their scummy gameplay practices and crawl back to the forums asking for buffs. I can’t forbid them from asking but I believe many of us pvp veterans know it’s healthier for nightblade to say weak the way it is, and if its going to be buffed it has to be in a different way than making the stealth gank/bow zerg style that most of the forumblades would like to restore so much. (Boo(s)mer stealth passive team im looking at you) As a player of all 6 classes (got an emperor on one of my nightblades too you can say I’m still biased, but all I care is overall balance of PVP that nbs have been ruining for a long long time. Class is in a bad spot and should be buffed but what should not be buffed is ranged play style with bow as it’s just unhealthy for the entire community and I believe we all agree on that. As much as I enjoyed my magblade ganking with elemental weapon and soul harvest to desync the skills and hit someone with 30k dmg within one cool down I think it’s good that it’s gone and should never return. Again for sake of all of us not for egoistic thrills of some nb player. I hope the devs don’t have memory of a goldfish and will keep nbs as they are right now.

Someone got ganked a few too many times.

I'm not really seeing why they shouldn't be touched up on. You say that we shouldn't go back to the way nightblades were forever ago, but then fail to list any specific examples except ancient salt and the terribly short-sighted justification that since they were OP back then, they should be punished now. You'd make an excellent middle manager with that kind of petty logic.

Personally, I think the main reason NBs are pretty bad right now is the cast delay on all of their good ultimates, and it's only a matter of time before ZOS catches on to the fact that they only hit NB and 2h with their first pass and end up getting a few others that deserve it (like Crescent Sweep) in their second and everyone suffers. I'd like to see NO ultimate delays and a higher ult stun on incap again. The rest can stay like it is and NB would be just fine, for the most part.

NBs got nerfed while templars, wardens and necros (stam ones at least) got buffed. I'd prefer to buff NBs and leave the rest alone (maybe except of 100% uptime on major defile stam necro has). We don't want nerfs for others, we just want to be brought in line with them again, let us compete, that's all.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

I couldn't disagree more, what you are alluding to here is that you detest stealth based combat. Ganking/Stealth-burst was, is and will always be part of the ESO combat. It should be on you to stay constantly alert and not drop your guard or inversely have good enough reactions to survive a gank attempt.

NB certainly could use some buffs and to oppose it saying the current state is better for PvP balance for the other classes is clearly biased and made to suit your anti-stealth agenda.

As for "scummy stealth playstyle", you must be loving the OMIGOD IHAVE35KHP AND ITICKLEOTHERS combatstyle. To *** with your "honorable playstyle", the way I see it, it's a more cowardly playstyle needing to depend of tons of passive mitigation to survive. The high TTK highly watered-down combat ESO currently has, is the most unhealthy ESO balance of all times.

And if you think all NBs are incompetent, you just haven't fought the good ones yet or you always run in zergs for protection. Good NBs are still deleting people right now. 30k in 1 sec is nothing, I can still remove 100k+ in less than 3 secs.

No they don’t play the way the want since sniping is so weak most players don’t go that way anymore, believe you me tho as soon as the option is there and is viable we are back to getting sniped 24/7.

And I believe I said in my original post nb should be buffed but not in the means of stealth. That mechanic should be removed all together.

ZOS really screwed the pooch with nightblades. Sure, spammable invisibility is too strong. So what do they do? Nerf the hell out of everything EXCEPT spammable invisibility of course.

OP shouts out that NBs should not be buffed then clamors about the use of the bow skill snipe, which is entirely irrelevant to the NB. Then the OP goes on to suggest these players (presumably the NB players) have been proven to be incompetent in a regular matchup, which is laughable because OP would have no reason to complain about NBs possibly being buffed if this was true.

I stopped reading at that point because OP is complaining about a skill that has nothing to do with an NB and then makes a baseless generic statement that NBs are incompetent, which pretty much contradicts that they do not need to be buffed. That is unless OP is trying to say they are a better player than anyone on an NB but is still challenged by them these incompetent players.

It would be great if the first two statements of a thread like this supported the premise being presented. I would find it worthy of reading on.

Ganking is fine I used to do it myself. Problem arises when you “gank” someone who is already fighting outnumbered and your snipes hit him or them for 10k+ and defile them too, cause who needs healing.

OP, just some perspective, since you clearly don't have a clue what's going on in the PvE side of things: you hardly ever see stamNBs in end-game raiding anymore. Just this morning we had a trial where somebody bought their stamNB to dust them off, and had to swap for subsequent runs because of the lackluster damage, and this is how the state of things has been for stam NBs for half a year now. I still stubbornly play it, just 'cause I love the class so damn much, even though I've been getting mocking/borderline toxic comments about it, but I never do it for serious score pushing or achievement runs anymore, because almost all other specs outer there are considerably better. Please tell me how is this 'healthy'? And please consider other playstyles, other than your PvP tunnel vision, before you request a class, with one of the most difficult rotations to learn, to stay underperforming, because you're personally pleased about it.

Well I suppose after a long period where nb was the best and only choice for dps in trials they should give other classes a chance at endgame no?

Yeah feels really healthy, instead of 3 dudes sniping you get 2-3 semi-immortal stamcros casting blastbones with defile on you.

Increase travel speed of spec bow - buff
Add something like maj sorc and brutality to spiphoning and leeching - buff
Remove cast times on ults - buff
Remove crit from cloak - needed nerf
Change invis to something else (better, more fun, more effective, still inline with class identity) so class can get properly buffed and balanced - I think needed but rp'ers dont like this.

In pvp yesterday and instead of getting nb ganked i got 3 nb ganked, some people.... weak sauce.

Assuming you mean cloaking as the "playstyle that is enabled by nightblade skills". As I said before in a previous post,

If you can't catch someone trying to cloak with all of the options available to you (snares, pulls, detect potions, cone AoE, AoE in general, revealing skills, etc etc etc) that's a problem with the way you're playing, not the skill. Cloak is a terrible damage mitigator and low hanging fruit for becoming a scapegoat at the hands of players who only really have themselves to blame.

I think that's all that really needs to be said on that. However, let's break down a little bit more of your post not related to cloaking.

    unhealthy snipe playstyle

Not a NB-exclusive problem as a few others have pointed out. Even if it was, snipe has so many counters that complaining about it is almost a meme and an admission of inexperience. The true problem with snipe is that its prone to desyncs, which is a problem with performance and prevalent on a ton of other abilities (it seems ele weapon and overload on a magsorc is the newest addition to this group). Other than that, block, roll dodge, and heal. Pop detect pot and gap close/sprint towards now defenseless NB and eat him alive like everyone else does. Snipe without desync is completely, 100% ridicule worthy because of how ineffective it is against skilled players.
    D3N7157 wrote: »
Stun from stealth guaranteed crit and so on, further enchanted by already balanced now thankfully racial passives. As I said already as soon as this playstyle is viable enough it’s going to become a problem. Again.

First part -- again, not NB exclusive, but passives give a bonus to it. See above for the "ridicule worthy" portion. Does anyone actually rely on stealth stun? I don't recall it ever actually applying in any reliable way. Usually concealed or surprise attack is for that.

I'm really not sure what else has to be said. The snipe playstyle you're so vehemently against is complete garbage unless you build in to it fully, and then it's a gimmick at best. I guess it really takes all kinds. I'd be willing to discuss more, but doing so would feel like such a dead end. It already feels like we're talking to a tape recorder saying "all you're doing is attacking my inexperience, not my argument", when we're clearly taking it on. You just haven't given us much to grasp, man.

Unless it's runs where the raid lead has specifically requested an all-mag configuration, which are rare occurences, and nowdays mostly have to do with Godslayer progs, the vast majority of runs has a plethora of stam players, especially stam necros.

I think stam nb is definately low on the damage pve scale but the stam toons overall (except necro) like stam warden and dk and plar are pretty close with nb, really not much in it.
