Hi all, i would like to play a rogue like class (like one in wow for example) where i can hit really hard from stealth. What race/class combo can pull this out, also i would like to be able to have decent survivability. Any advice is welcome :)

This will be for pve content, i do not play pvp much if at all.

Khajiit NB. Because Bosmer have no stealth now. Unless you use all the "right" gear sets.

So only Khajit can use stealth? i thought every class could, my bad.

I was in the same spot when i came from WoW.Played mostly rogue.nightblade is the only class with stealth, but stealth doesn't work in eso like it does in WoW.If you loved it over there you'll probably be disappointed unless u enjoy spamming stealth every 3 seconds. Also in pve dungeons/raids you wont even have/use stealth as it takes up 1 bar slot that could be used for buffs/damage and there is nothing like sap.For questing and running around the world its meh.Mainly used in pvp.

Just thought I'd let you know what to expect.

Any race can sneak, but Khajiit have a racial passive that makes them harder to detect

    As for class: Nightblade

Well, every race can use stealth, yes, but if you want to reliably attack and kill from stealth, khajiit is going to be your best bet. And see @JakaWild's post for some further details.

Thanks for this, i was really hoping that i could make a rogue like character, ah well.

Okay how about a warrior like character, something that can melt mobs and have survivability. Would like to use huge 2H axe :)

    Probably a stamina dragonknight then...
But any class is capable of that style really.
Race choose: Nord, redguard, orc or wood elf.

Thanks for info, i might make a stamina necro with 2H (like a Lich King) but i might make a DK like you suggested.

Both make very good "stand your ground" classes 👍

Sorry for this many questions but what do you thin which of these 2 have more survivability for open world stuff like Spellscar and such?

I'd agree with this.Stamina Dragonknights are like a fiery warrior with in-your-face combat.

Survivability I would say they are near enough even... Maybe stamdk has a bit more survivability with access to extra buffs and heals.

I'd recommend Nightblade since it is supposed to be the assassin/shadow mage class, but I will also warn you that the class is suffering from lack of identity for a long time now. It doesn't feel like a shadow mage and doesn't feel like a rogue/assassin class despite having an invisibility skill. Also, the Invisibility does not work like you'd think from other games, so don't expect to commit any crimes in PvE content using that ability, it will only let you go unseen when there are no anti-stealth auras.

Nightblade has been nerfed into uselessness for PvP, but for PvE they should be fine, if a bit under-powered compared to other classes right now. Nightblades also have a larger learning curve and squishy survivability.

When I started I have made an assassin like char.
But not like most people do with invisibility.

I've choose a DK and have build full poison theme, that how I see assassin ^^

Anyway, if you're new, you probably should test a bit of every class (lv 30 for each is enough imo) to see which wanna got the best feeling for you.

    Welcome and have fun :)

Make a mag templar and you can do anything in the game, not best, not worst but i would say easiest.

Then you want a nightblade. Prolly stamina, for the big backstab attacks (and the general "assassin" theme)... possibly also with vampire for the extra sneakyness if you want to specialize in the sneaky sneaks.
    CiferX wrote: »

Every class (or race) can use stealth, but nightblades have more stealth options then other classes (with the only invisibility skill and skills that help sneak attack play), and khajiit get a stealth bonus as racial - tho if you are not going to PvP, you don't really -need- that extra percentage, and could go with other races as well that support other things.

    All that being said...
...you can also play "rogue-like" characters in other flavors.
Yes, NBs are the ones with the best stealth and sneak-attack support... but if you want a more general theme, you can also go for other classes in medium armor... I have had fun with rouge-like templar pirate girls (great survivability through all those selfheals) or sorc orc "brute force axe in your face assassin" or redguard "desert bandit marauder" or even a necromancer "tomb robber"... it all depends on how you play it, and sometimes its fun to play a suboptimal setup and see how it goes (though I would only recommend that once you know the game well enough that you can afford the drop in effectiveness...)

And yes, you can even play the stealth-based stuff like TG and DB with non-nightblades. Sometimes its even better, since you know you -have- to pay more attention since you don't have the "invisibility get out of being spotted card".

Also if you are planning on going stealth, the vampire skill line is handy and makes stealth effectively stam free and gives movement bump.

Any race is fine, just wear gear sets which make you harder to see in sneak. Play what you enjoy, not what small minded children think you should.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.
