Do you like the way Sorc pets look?

So there has long been a lot of discussion surrounding pets, particularly Sorcerer pets, which this poll is mainly concerned with.

I tried to recall if I had ever seen or heard anyone say that they like the way either Sorc pet looks, and I couldnt. So thought I would ask the community...

Personally, until recently I point blank refused to use pets on my Sorc, because they look so awful. I think both are ugly, I do not think either are thematically in tune with Sorcerer class, I think the purple colour looks completely out of place unless you also colour your Sorc purple. They are also too big and get in the way. Whatever way I come at them, they are aesthetically a disaster.

My forlorn hope is, someone high enough up in ZOS is watching and finally give us the ability to skin our pets, or at the very least, colour them... unless of course I am wrong and everyone loves em?

Please vote and comment with your own thoughts and suggestions... note that this is not a poll about the existence of pets, their usability or function. Its about aesthetics.

Sorc Matriarch needs to be reduced, removed or turned invisible to others. It's an ugly scar on an otherwise beautiful game. It's a nuisance in PVE/overland and potentially broken in PVP.

I absolutely understand the frustration and I share it... however we cannot make it invisible, unless the way pets in ESO are completely reworked. Because, the pets both deal damage, and take damage, they therefore function as meat shields, particularly in PVP. We need to be able to see them to kill them or mitigate them...

I think the Outfitting station should have a "Pets" section, where any equipped pets are able to be dyed. I also think ZOS is missing a huge trick in not producing Pet skins for use. My preference would be that a range of skins are available in the Outfitting station, just as they are for armour and weapons etc.

Perhaps the days of them functioning as meat shields need to end then.

Id tend to agree, but how... if they deal and take damage - so that they can be killed and stop them damaging you, how would that work? As I say it would need a complete rework, which I am not against per se, just saying.

Ever fought a 4 Sorc team in battlegrounds... each with x2 pets = 8 pets, all put up right before you engage... its ridiculous. You cant damage them, and they are damaging you with 8 pets AND their own damage. lolz.

Exactly my point. I'm not sure the main use for pets was ever supposed to be a mobile LOS blocker and it's likely not factored into the cost/value of the ability.

Exactly, the skins are already there!

But why limit ourselves to scamps? They are ugly as sin. Its not like we are limited for choice when it comes to Daedric summoned entities... let us pick the skin we want and colour it!

I think the color specifically looks horrible. I get that they wanted to make a clear distinction between daedric mobs and players summons, but the bright purple color is horrible.

I like the idea of the outfit station having a tab for pets and summons. If skins are too hard to put on there, then at least color options.

They look like an even more pasty vampire. Of all the mobs and pets in the game they are just so plain looking. A little color would have gone a long ways.

I would love what the others have said, being able to dye/skin them. They are in my mind, a bit unique in comparison to say warden bears or a procced pet via a monster set. Those could remain as is. But it sure would be nice and again as others said, the skins are present via the vanity pets we have. At the very least, perhaps a transmutation option to change your summoned pet to match whatever vanity pet you own. I'd go so far as to say even with the increase in dps ect as a petsorc, I choose against them partly because of how they clash with my look.

Pet sorc was my first character (and my only character until I discovered PvP and Wardens), so I guess they've never bothered me. I try to remember to unsummon them now in towns as a courtesy to those around me though. The matriarch is...pretty obnoxious.

But I've never cared for new skins or changing them aesthetically. I wouldn't object to reducing their size though, but that's for PvP reasons.

I don't mind the color so much. The logic is they come from the blue bodies of liquid (Waters of Oblvion) that we see in Coldharbour and I'm okay with that.

The monkey is simply too ugly to ever use. Period.
The clannfear, besides being a limited-purpose summon (low damage, modest tanking) is ruined by that dorky looking tail spike.
The twilight is nice looking and I love how she sometimes hums a tune, but its large size, elevation and flapping render her very annoying to the sorc and others alike in town, traveling, in dungeons, questing, everywhere (not just an in town problem when you can unsummon them).

My biggest hope would be to address the twilight. I'd love to see it turned into a nyxad pixie healer. Absent that, reduce its size dramatically. If possible, have the twilight land when idle.

A toggle option to ignore other players' pets in PvE would be greatly appreciated. There would be far less clutter on each person's screen and honestly would help with performance. For aesthetics I don't like the purple discoloration that the Sorcerer pets have. I would have rather had normally colored pets with perhaps a glowing aura to differentiate them from the ordinary hostile mobs.

I like the look of the Matriarch, but I think that it should only fly when in combat, and be set further back from the player. I would like to be able summon a different daedra for once, gods know there are plenty of them.

I’m not opposed to your request, @Grianasteri, but the current looks of the daedric summons have been ingrained in Elder Scrolls lore for 20+ years.

You’d likely need sign-off from the ZOS Loremaster before the devs even consider it.

I don’t think the reskinned scamps are a good example to support your argument ... since they aren’t part of combat.

Again, not opposed ... but you have to think about the lore implications.

Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

The Clannfear model is.. nice. I've an attachment to it Battle armor would be welcome though, like in that image advertising the imperial city event. I could care less about the twilight, but I still use it for it's combat effects. Barely have any experience with the scamp since my sorcerer is a tank setup.

    1. I wish they had proper coloring instead of all being purple. Maybe ZOS' idea is to have player pets be distinguishable from PvE enemies, but that seems inconsistent with the vanilla appearance of Necromancer pets. Also, because there are purple Scamps and Clannfears serving Molag Bal.
    2. Models and textures are of low quality compared to later additions to the game, both in PvE enemies and player skills. Especially the Twilight seems too bulky and cartoonish, when she should look more delicate. She should have bird legs and a slender scorpion tail, not the lower body of a T-Rex.

    LG-cardart-Piercing_Twilight.png

Ideally they would solve this by adding more pet skins like they have for the Warden bear, so people who like the current pets can keep them. They could even sell those skins in the crown store, idc.

I feel like there are several things wrong with sorcerer pets. Hopefully this isn't too much of a tangent. I understand the community has accepted that pets must remain on both action bars to be used properly. We are convinced that it is a matter of balance. Is everyone really accepting of this? It would feel more natural to have pets that exist as a toggled or reasonable duration buff. Daedric pets don't really feel like they belong on the Sorcerer class as it is - and they don't synergize particularly well with the mage's ability to be tanky and mobile. Have pets ever been reworked or received substantial attention?

Back on topic - Overall, I think their size should be reduced a bit. Pet skins/ colors would be a great change that I'd be happy with. The ability to change their shape entirely would be loved. A wisp would make me happy.

this. exactly this. there is a non-combat pet that you can get from the Molag Bal in sewers - Stonefire Scamp. it's basically a reskin of other scamps/sorc pet. if i only could make my sorc pet look like that i'd use it. i don't use pets now because i can't stand the look of them. if there were skins available for them i'd throw any amount of money at them..
