Returning player, wondering current game state?

Hey all :) I am a returning player over a year off the game. What is the current state of the game, has much changed since a year ago and is the game better, worse or the same with bugs etc? ^^

Thanks!

Well, the biggest changes are that you'll have to redownload the game with this Update and that Groupfinder actually works under high demand instead of going kaput the moment ZOS tries to run an event.

Otherwise you've got the same swarm of post-update bugs and if you had performance issues before in Cyrodiil or PVE group content, you likely still have the same issues.

I'm not getting issues, never had too many before in over 5 years. Some people are crashing,or glitching, having fps loss, etc. So it's best just to try it outsince it seems different for everyone.

There are a few threads here highlighting some of the issues pertaining to both game types right now but I can summarize. PVP lag is still prevalent and in both PVE and PVP there is a good amount of input lag plaguing the game right now that is making the game less enjoyable. Aside from that people seem to like the new performance update as far as load times go and the new dungeons are really top notch.

My forecast game will be in sorry state before September. There will be ton of players and tremendous lag. Also vampire will be broken OP in U26 and only toned down to reasonable level in U27.

I don't have many issues at all. Occasionally lag and random DC's, I've encountered some bugs but I absolutely love the game. I left WOW over a year ago and have never looked back. There is so much to do from quests, achievements, crafting, farming, fishing, delves, dolmens, dungeons, collecting shards and books..... I am never at a loss for something to do when I log on.

I can't speak on PVP as I don't go to Cyrodil except to complete quests and PVE achievements.

My best advice is to say there are three sides to every story, his, hers and the truth. Log on for yourself and make you own judgment. A FRACTION of the people who play come to or post on the forums.

Personally I dont have the lag, crashes or fps issues people keep mentioning. I think it has to do with hardware, eso may not like the newer stuff not sure.

It depends on who you are. I can only surmise that the people without issues are casuals who enjoy new overland areas and dungeons.

If you are a Cyro PvPer, this patch is miserable, because lag is worse than ever. While not a Cyro performance patch as such, ZOS has made changes to block, ostensibly as a start to working on performance. This has not worked! Why they had to waste time on refactoring block mechanics, I have no idea. How they prioritise things and how this has resulted in a step backwards can only lead you to believe they are utterly incompetent in this regard.

If you like someone digging your eyes out with a rusty spoon then you'll enjoy the changes. Joke btw, I quit about a while back and just came back three months ago. Lots of good changes, the guild stores are easier to search now, can multi craft things when crafting, and I saved money by switching to G$@ for mount insurance. Cons are it's blatantly obvious that events and such, homes etc are moving more and more towards steering people to the crown store. I just don't buy stuff there but it is off putting as it's predatory in the worst way.

Performance wise, the game is a dumpster fire. But hey the crown store works!

I think as a returning player, there is a ton of content ready for you to explore. I don't have too many problems out in the PvE world. Overall I'm pretty satisfied and looking forward to upcoming content.

As mostly a PvPer these days, not too happy with Cyrodiil performance and bugs. I am glad that they fixed the crashes happening last week because it was becoming a game breaker for me and other members of my guild.

Incorrect, I pvp, bg, trials as well and I dont have the crashes or issues most report. I do get lag in pvp but that's nothing new. The only difference I have seen is my pc is a 5 year old middle grade build. Most ppl having issues are high end newer ones. Might be a gpu incompatibility with eso that zos has not fixed yet. Most of my friends and guild members are in the same boat as me with meh grade pcs.

Was I talking about crashes? Nope. Why? Because that was 1 week, last week. ZOS at least did fix those.

Is that what's going on? I tried to login after a few months away and the download is 35 gigs; I don't think I care that much how things are going.

If you’re returning after a year and already own the game, you lose nothing by just jumping in, playing for a while and making up your own mind.

I like it. Despite its many and varied flaws and idiosyncrasies.

The new content over the last year, the DLC more than the actual Elsweyr chapter, has been really good too. The latest DLC dungeons are fantastic.
