Healing Medals in BG and why it's a tragedy we still dont have them

A good healer in BG in matches like Chaosball and Capture can make the difference between an easy victory and crushing defeat, yet they are given almost no recognition by ZOS for their contributions due to BG not considering healing others to be worth noting.

I just won a BG match of Chaosball where my constant healing and buffing of my group was key to victory, yet I got almost no medals and a very low score, despite probably being MVP. If anyone else in the group would be a candidate for MVP it would be the guy who held the ball, but he only lived as long as he did becuase I made sure to heal him a lot.

We both deserve recognition, yet one scored high and I did not.

Why do we not yet have medals in BG for healing/buffing keeping others alive? It need not count healing on self, if it counts only healing others it would always be easiest to get on a healer, and thus encourage more pvp healers.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

actually, healing to others are taken into consideration for score and exactly the way you want it: not counting self healing but only heals to other ppl.

As for the medals, they exist but they are quite few and low while assist are rewarding in all matchs for exemple.

killing blows arent rewarding beside DM.

the way zenimax consider medals is simply exactly in line with everything they tend to do in this game: halfly done =)

If this was true why did I barely get any medals while healing massive amounts of HP to my entire team over the course of a match, literally making the difference to win.

No, its exactly what BGs need. a short battle which is decided in seconds is nowhere near as fun as a long, drawn out battle where you must use tactics to eliminate the enemy teams healers/protectors.

This truly is the definition of “tragedy!”

Surprised Shakespeare didn’t incorporate this into any of his plays!!!

    Thats a cute description.

Come back when your DM bgs last the full duration with the winning team barely making 300 points with barely anyone dying.

Frankly the there is no interesting flow with windows to execute back and forth strategies with counterplay dynamics and so forth. Not here. This *** devolves pretty quickly into wack a mole with ult dumps and body blocking.

Honestly healers really only get medals for critical burst heals and providing additional damage to help seal the deal on PKs.

If you are a buff / healing bot with zero potential for pressuring a single players health bar, you arent getting anything. However those that place stock in the scoreboard for bgs tend to not be worth paying attention to.

There are countless scenarios for which certian builds simply cant perform depending on the bg mode and class comps. Just the other day I had some fool complaining about his team (us) going in "too deep". Technically sound advice since we had no healer and both teams each had one. It was a balled up *** of a match, myself and one other were playing melee stam builds, we were constantly waiting around trying to catch people on the outside or grab a quick kill in and out, but it was just impossible on the map and with what classes were present. The guy complaining was a mag sorc who was just sitting in back dropping his frags and wraths on people and the other was a mag warden who was also complaining. At the end we lost and both the mag warden thanks to fletcher flies and ice storm ult and the magsorc for mag sorc reasons, had absolutely overshadows me and the other melee stam build In the damage done department and found it easy to place the blame on our low damage despite no one on the team getting over 4 kills be cause of the healers - who enabled the magden and sorc to reach crazy high damage medals simply by turning the enemy targets into 28 meter damage target dummies. Other often scenarios is when I queue on one of my healers and I end up getting 3 stealth based stamblades and I'm basically forced to heal myself the entire match and then am ridiculed for not contributing lol... honestly the list is very long.

Point is, who gives a *** about the healers score, any player worth playing with and talking to knows full well who is an asset to the team, knows when some scenarios for certain players are simply a checkmate right out of the gate, and knows when someone is dead weight all while ignoring what the scoreboard shows.

The only tragedy here is truly letting it bother you.

My healers do have damage, but being a healer and their primary focus being keeping folks alive they lack huge burst required for pvp success. they contribute more than most to victory becuase they make their team hard to kill. The fact they dont get scored for that is not something you can defend with a straight face.

I only want to heal in pvp becuase in ESO it is what I do best. in FFXIV pvp I'm usually tank or dps.

Frontlines absolutely is. Rival Wings can be hillarious fun. and thats the pvp I do. Feast is pretty ok also.

But whatever your preference FF14 pvp is undeniably 100x more balanced than ESO pve or pvp.

As others have said, this already exists. I usually find that if I'm doing a lot of healing in a BG, I'm making it to the top score-wise without even a decent K/D/A. Especially in Chaosball this usually shows and I end up easy 2nd. If I don't, it's usually because someone else was doing better healing than me. :#

@dazee Every heal over 7k gives you 100 points. Make a build that has burst heals and you will have tons of point. The easiest is mSorc.

I donty like this healing score system and I hope that ZoS change it.
    Because I can!

As a healer myself I can only agree, we deserve recognition! You know you are essential when the second you die... your team drops one by one.

I can understand wanting to keep healers out of pvp, but... I prefer healing in PvP! It's more exciting, and more challenging. Way more choatic than healing a group standing around the boss (yawn). In PvP you have to keep tabs on everyone, all the time, AND defend yourself instead of relying on a tank (who just ran straight to the center of that cluster over there, out of range of your heals.......). Good PVP Healers are the real mvps lol.
