Murkmire Event: getting tickets is RNG based?

Previously I was getting my event tickets & strongbox everyday on one of my characters defeating a world boss & being in the top 12 dps'ers to be eligible to receive loot.

Today I didn't get loot on the first WB but did on the second & got loot but no tickets or strongbox.

Some people in chat suggested that I might have killed something previously that had my tickets/strongbox & missed looting it.

While I'm pretty sure I loot everything this must be what happened unless tickets & or the first strongbox are RNG based so I just didn't get them yet?

Although after doing the dailies on 8 characters & killing other enemies in Murkmire I got 0 tickets or strongboxes.

I want to know because people are saying it's better/easier to kill mobs/monsters for the tickets/first strongbox than trying to be in the top 12 for a world boss.

If it's RNG based I don't know why I was getting tickets & the first strongbox everytime I defeated a world boss (usually the first enemy I would defeat first thing after getting the daily quests).

Yes, tickets are RNG based. There's a high chance to get them from a boss and a good chance to get them from random mobs.

I just go kill random mobs and usually get the strongbox and tickets within 1-4 kills. I go for the bigger targets. The River Trolls or Lizard Bears. Then I log off until the next day.

Sometimes there are just too many players at the world boss for me to even see or target the boss, let alone get the rewards.

The trick is to do it as early as you can, to avoid too much of a crowd, then you will get the tickets.

the tickets are granted automatically and not part of the loot? even though getting them is rng? unlike the loot boxes and the momento and pet parts that have to be looted, the tickets are automatically added?

You must get the loot to get the tickets. If you don't loot the enemy that awarded you your tickets, you are out for the day. Just loot everything and don't group until you get your tickets for that day.

I really don't understand the decision to make tickets drop this way. It was similarly confusing when they had them dropping from trash mobs during the Dragonrise event. But now adding an rng function to make it even more unwieldy is just stupid. Why mess with what works? Have the tickets drop from world bosses, delve bosses, or from turning in a daily quest. The strong boxes can drop from whatever, wherever to give people the incentive to grind, but don't gate tickets behind rng for killing anything.

Haven't been participating in this event for this reason. The ticket grind has become tiresome as it is. Luckily I had enough tickets left from the previous event I could get the next berry. So no need to run around trying to get tickets this go around. If I knew I could just kill a world or delve boss or complete a daily quest to get a ticket then maybe I would feel more inclined, but all in all, meh.

I've had zero issues running only the delve daily in Murkmire and getting the tickets and special box. Doesn't always drop from the boss, but something along the way will drop it.

Thanks for all the feedback, weird that I had such good RNG to get tickets on my 1st or 2nd time kill everyday until now.

Will be interesting to see what happens after the reset.

It helps to NOT be in a group to insure you loot exactly what you need to.

I haven't run into this issue. Just make sure you have space for those three tickets and not capped. I have got my tickets and strongbox on the first boss I kill everyday. Wb or delve.

First day where I haven't been able to get tickets. Usually I get them the first 1-4 kills. I think I might've gotten glitched out of them because another player came through and started killing the same mobs, which is highly frustrating if so.

I don't think ZoS should make tickets RNG based for that reason. It would have been more reasonable to have them guaranteed upon completion of a daily quest or something to that effect. Not happy about having missed out on 3 tickets because of RNG or RNG-based glitches.

Especially since it does not seem that the fragments for the pet or memento for this event are tradeable, so you can't catch up by buying from other players like you can with style pages in the past several events. If you could I would be a lot less salty about it.

Please ZoS, do not make tickets RNG based AND unique limited-time event rewards untradable at the same time. Its purely bad event design.

So I was in a delve & got my tickets & murkmire strongbox maybe from about the 5th thing that I killed in there after the daily reset.

Nope, getting the tickets for the Murkmire event are tied to collecting drops, like they were during the Dragon Rising event and certain others. They are part of the loot for events like this one, not added automatically like they are for certain other events like the Jubilee (where just eating the cake will give you the tickets) or the New Life Festival (where you get them for the first quest you turn in every day).

I like having the tickets drop from mobs. I have an EU character and since I'm in the Western US, doing the world bosses is painful since you may have only a couple of people to help. Taking down the Miragut boss with the self heal literally took a half hour and that was mostly with no one dying, we just didn't have enough people to take out the totems quickly enough.
