Group Finder is and has been broken since the supposed "fix".

I will bump this everyday until something is done. This a post from someone else who got no acknowledgement but these are the issues I've been having. Yes, somedays GF works just fine but this is unacceptable. This is one of the most basic functions in an MMO and they still haven't got it right. It's been broken and buggy for how many years???

This has been happening since dungeon finder was supposed to be fixed a few weeks ago. Happens almost half the time when I get a group.

- Ready checks kicks in
- It goes straight into Notifications (kinda like the past issue where even after accepting the group it would still end there, except that now half the time it goes straight there)
- Once you open your ready check in Notifications, clicking Accept does nothing at all
- The only way to close this is to refuse your group but when you go back to Dungeon Finder, you can't queue again (it is greyed) and as a matter of fact if you are still queued, leaving the queue is also greyed
- So in the end you have to soft log to be able to enter the queue again

Hope this gets fixed.

ZOS should just give it up and make solo modes for dungeons.
If people can get groups for Trials without a Group Finder they can make their own groups for the group mode dungeons.
And when they can't, they can just go it solo in the solo mode dungeons.

    No thank you.

This game would be even more unbearable and backward-thinking, if you didn't even have a group finder.

...and yes, I often run with pre-made guild groups, but no one should have to rely on that.

People play at weird times and stuff.

Try replying to the automated response. That's necessary if you want to get it escalated.

This. If you do not reply to it the ticket will be closed. There is a statement in the reply that specifies this.

Probably why the GF hasn't been fixed since release. No one escalated their ticket. I'll be the hero.

I got this too. About 60% of the time, the notification goes straight into menu and is unclickable. THen I am forever stuck unable to leave que or press "accept" or "decline" until I leave the game. Transists, swapping, waiting doesn't work. Boy this Overhaul, as expected, did more harm than good.

And..... again. I'm just trying to get my pledges done in the morning after work before bed but it's becoming impossible. I don't get it. First pledge Wayrest 1, queue, pop, in no problem, next pledge, 3 times in a row I've had to log out because stuck in ready check, waiting on 4 players. Can a mod shed some light on this???? I know it's not the crown store but something? Anything?

It's laughable that ESO makes it onto top mmo lists yet the GF has never worked, and still does not work. How do these massive game breaking bugs, neglected for years, get overlooked when these things are decided?

ESO does not deserve being mentioned alongside the other successful games until it WORKS.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

This exact thing happens all the time when my husband and I try to queue. One of us will get that notification and the other one will still show that they are "queued." It's incredibly frustrating.

Still no acknowledgment. Also, not only this but I've noticed when I group with someone, my queue time is considerably longer even with a healer (I'm tank). I've also been in queue for 10+ min with tank, healer, and dps. There's no freaking way that it's taking 10 min to find another dps for a pledge. It's not always like this but the majority of the time it is. Something is definitely up with their algorithm for finding group members.

The GF might possibly have problems finding players for a group due to a faulty algorithm, but there is a server capacity issue at play here as well. Dungeons are instanced to the group and require a separate process to be spawned on the server. That process should be small and lightweight, but it does come with a non-zero resource cost. There is definitely a limit to how many people can run dungeons at the same time before the server is overloaded for some reason (data bandwidth, memory space, processing power, whatever).

During prime time, I sometimes get long queue times even for premade groups with all four roles assigned and ready to go, and that is definitely not an issue with the finder not finding players for us. It's an issue with us not getting an instance on the server to run a group dungeon.

In those cases, I would really appreciate some feedback in the UI to tell us that too many are trying to get into a dungeon at the moment. It's basic courtesy. When you call a busy support line, instead of just listening to a seemingly unending sequence of ringtones, you get an automated response telling you that your call was noticed, you have been placed in a queue, and all pending calls will be answered in order. A rough estimate of the waiting time is also basic courtesy here, so you can make an informed decision about whether you should hang up and call later.

Yeah, I have seriously fixed feelings about the group finder. On one hand, all the problems mentioned above happen quite frequently. These issues are annoying, but are relatively easy to identify and correct as a player. I will say right now though, that before they did their “fix” for the group finder, if my dps wanted to queue for a pledge, that act would take 20 minutes at a minimum. Nowadays, I’ve gotten placed in a dungeon immediately as a dps many times, with the longest wait for pledge dungeons at only about 10 minutes or so. I’ll trade a few quirks for 30 minutes less of waiting time any day of the week.

I've used it for the first time since the fix the last two days for an alt I'm leveling. Worked perfect. I'm a tank though, so the short wait might mean less time for it to become unstable.

That has to do more with the fact that game recovered a lot of players on this last two months... go to steam charts and see it for yourself...
More player = less time on queue

Just wait for players star dropping game again with the current issues going on. U will see this "improvement" being lost with time

    @Solace1981

To which feature of TESO does the acronym "GF" refer? From the recent incessant flow of Chat messages recruiting for guild members, I thought it meant "Guild Finder". Between those and the long messages posted by players who want to sell or want to buy items, there is hardly any opportunity to effectively solicit other players to form a group.

From your remarks, you seem to be referring to the "Group Finder" feature for joining with other players to enter a dungeon or trial.

Regardless, you forgot to mention both the platform and the mega-server on which you have encountered the problems to which you allude. Please read the Guidelines For Bug Report Forum for instructions and advice about posting a useful bug report.

Not that I blame you for just wanting to gripe about the ineptitude of the ZOS developers who are responsible for the feature. Be that it may, I doubt that anyone has tried to design and implement a "Group Finder" for a mega-server system before ZOS and Bethesda decided to use such a system with which to offer the game.

The idea is to avoid assigning each one of the multitude of players to a specific server that runs the Host software. The capacity of each such Host server has been less than 100,000 players for the MMORPGs in which I have played.

Of course, doing that restricts the people with whom you can play the game to those who choose (or are assigned) to the same specific Host server to on which you play the game.

The mega-server is a single virtual Host server with an enormous capacity for clients, although it runs on multiple physical host servers which are interconnected via a network (of course). That in itself is a marvelous feat of system engineering, but it is not without its limitations and challenges -- especially for the virtual Host software per se.

Personally, I doubt that ZOS is able, whether willing, to invest the time, effort, and money to develop the virtual Host software that would make it possible to have a "Group Finder" without some hidden limitations and not-so-hidden problems.

Group Finder is as broken as I have ever seen it. A truly basic and what should be simple function apparently can’t be fixed even if you have completely rewritten the code. If you can’t get something as simple as grouping queued people together how can you do the actual hard stuff?
