Maintenance for the week of April 13:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 13

Many of the crashes seem to be the result of the new task bar traffic blinker they put into place.

At least from what I noticed on my end.
One thing I noticed since this update when tabbed out the game tab on task bar glows orange like a traffic indicator. I understand the purpose of it but it seems kinda something that should be optional?
Its mentioned in the patch notes.
The Elder Scrolls Online taskbar icon on PC clients will now light up if something time sensitive (ready checks, combat, etc.) occurs in-game when it’s not being focused.

I noticed the crashes when I do have seems to be when I'm tabbed out and not focused on the game. Otherwise I've not seen it being much of an issue with me only when it comes to that traffic signal like blinker. As I do pretty log in sometimes only to be kicked out to long in screen after so long if I get distracted with something like say making and posting threads on the forums example. If I feel like browsing I might just browse the web that signal thing goes off and at some point a crash screen pops up. So I think it is the traffic blinker being the main cause of the crashes for many players facing them right now. I just got that intuition about that one. As many of the times I've crashed that was happening and that blinker was going off. There might be a couple of times I crashed without it going off but majority of them happen with it going off.

Edit: For those that don't understand what I'm talking about or what a task bar is this is the task bar. Everyone on pc should know it.

Eso icon when its running will be shown on the task bar as do all pc applications that are open. When the game is active now blinks like a traffic signal. To alert people to things going on in the game if they are using say google chrome or doing other tasks outside the game. I think its the biggest source of the crashes going on right now.

i dont really understand what you mean

what is weird to me is that the crashes seem pretty random for me - yesterday i was crashing 3 times within an hour and then not anymore for the rest of the day despite doing the same thing all day

Task bar is basically the area on windows ten that you place you icons for short cutting or where they show up if you have a program running that allows you to switch between them like google chrome, Eso, Notepad. You have the 4 window thing on the left, the search bar right near it.

This is the task bar. Everyone should know it as everyone I assume uses it on their windows. When the eso icon is on there now. It will now flash and blink like a orange turn indicator on a car when there is combat or if a battlegrounds or queue is ready. That was what I was talking about.

All of my crashes have been in Cyrodiil (except for maybe one on patch day) and it was all while I wasn't tabbed out.
Not saying that this may not cause other types of crashing, but it's definitely not causing my crashes. When the feature has popped up for me while tabbed out, I've never crashed.

Mine crashes when I quit the game since the download. It's weird. Sometimes if I hop to another tab (to check Tamriel Trade Centre prices to put something up for auction) next thing I know, my game has the black screen of death and doesn't respond. Then there is the new crash that sometimes happens when I'm porting to a new area or trying to log out.

My game crashed only while in game, standing, running, existing... and ONLY when in Cyrodiil. PvE? 4 hours and everything ok. Fortunetly I have 12 days of ESO+ left. If nothing is going to get fixed, then bye ZOS.
"We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available."
    — They always claim they’re “investigating” the causes, but in reality they’re just waiting until the PC EU players go to bed. Once that happens, you can suddenly log in again and they happily mark the issue as Fixed.

The crashing seems to be in Cyrodiil only judging by the pattern of people complaining. I've done no PVP at all since the big patch and only crashed once, and i think that was add on related.

But everyone I've seen reporting constant chain crashing is almost always in Cyrodiil. Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious here, but felt it might be worth making that observation.

I don't know why it would be crashing in Cyrodiil. Something must be up to be causing that. Is it the Cp Alliance lock campaign or all Cyrodiil campaigns?
Just wondering, but I kinda suspect it might be the Cp one.
I think players shouldn't crunch on Cp alliance lock. They should spread out between the campaigns.

Cyrodiil is hard hit that's for sure, but all my crashes so far have been when closing the game. I knoe I'm not alone with that. Idk the prevalence of this one compared to Cyrodiil but I think even ir it happes just as often you'll see less complaints about it because I mean, we were plannung on leaving anyway so it doesn't disrupt our gameplay the same way the Cyro crashes are.

If you're having performance/stability issue with any game while tabbing out and running browser and other windows etc the answer is always to run the game cleanly with nothing else going on.

Do you run the game in administrator mode? If not then your machine may not be providing enough resources to the game when you are tabbed out. That is not the fault of Zos even if this is a new issue since the update.

I have had crashes. I don't do Cyrodiil. I don't Alt+Tab out of the game (I use an iPad instead). Since I'm in full-screen at the time, I have no idea what the task bar was doing, but there was no notification either, just riding cross-country in a PvE zone mostly.

I've had a few crashes in Murkmire - one notable incident being when I was about to loot a world boss, but thankfully I'd already gotten my daily tickets. Aside from that, every instance of the game crashing for me has been when I go to log out of the game (from character select) without closing it. It's like the game decides that if I don't want to play right that second, then it's not going to let me play. :D

Had my first “crash while quitting” occur today. After playing for several hours (PvE, PC/NA) I selected Quit to leave the game and received the bug report window informing me the game had crashed and asking for details on what I had just been doing. I’ve very infrequently seen this before on my prior PC over the past year. My new one is about two weeks old and has very little else installed on it currently (I9-9900K, 32GB, 2x 1TB M.2 NVME, RTX 2080 TI).

I gather most of the post-U25 patch crashes are occurring in PvP, but I’ve heard some people are having crashes while quitting. Adding my event to the data.

Crashes aren't limited to Cyrodiil. I have had multiple crashes in game while using PvE zone wayshrines or portals. I have also had a crash while standing around waiting for the group finder to send me to a dungeon. I have seen other players post that they have had the same issues. I have also seen a drop off in frame rates in areas where I always have had 90 - 100 FPS in the past. In some cases they are dropping into the 30 FPS range while I'm all alone in the open world. In towns something as simple as a player letting off an AoE can result in me going from 100 to 40 until the effect ends. While not the latest stuff I run a Ryzen 7 1700X, Nvidia GTX1660ti, 16G memory, SSD and never had these types of problems until the U25 patch.

Edit: I forgot to mention I don't use addons either.

OP, I'm sorry but once again you seem to be way over generalizing from your own limited experiences. I've had no crashes while tabbed out, and actually no crashes in PvE areas and none in IC. I've had one disconnect while logging out since patch. My experience in Cyrodiil however is one of repeatedly crashing. Frequently while ressing or using transit, but also in the middle of nowhere riding from keep to keep. Everyone I've been grouped with in Cyrodiil and the people on my friends list who have been there have had repeated crashes. It seems like the odds of crashing are lower if you can stay in one location, but that's often not really compatible with engaging pvp.

I've been crashing when I zone - if I zone in/out of my home or use a wayshire. Just thought I'd mention it in case it helps nail down the issue.

There is some area around you and when you are moving and changing it (new objects loaded), you can get crash (not every time).
If you stand still and any event takes place inside this area (some data is loaded), you can get crash (not every time).
Every time i got crash when quit, my launcher says it "couldn't load news"
