In the future can we PLEASE not schedule 50+ gigabyte updates for the middle of a week we happen to be having an event with limited time only things available for tickets?

This is the third time you have done this which leads me to believe you have decided it is a good idea to do huge patches in the middle of events for some reason.
It is extremely frustrating for people with slower connections (read: most of America) when you make them miss out on getting their tickets because the client has to update for a day and a half before they can log back in.

ganzaeso✭✭✭✭✭I personally would love to be able to download the update ahead of the roll out date and then just apply the update on the roll out date to minimize down time.
Any last minute changes could be added to a manifest and be required to be downloaded again easily enough.
Requiring it all downloaded at once is extremely taxing on the consumer.(Math before coffee, except after 3, is not for me)1 -
JadonSky✭✭✭✭✭Well on a good note the purpose of this update and reinstalling the whole game is that it should be the last time and updating going forward will be much faster and smaller in size. But agree should be done after events are over.0 -

They bait...i mean get u all there for the event...and then they have you test their servers and new client because they need you to rush in and test it for next weeks patch.
Since FEW STILL PARTICIPATES IN THE PTS TESTING...

And given console updates tend to be larger than PC ones, this is the best option that could be hoped for.
There are many very dubious things about this event, but scheduling the update in the middle of it is not a big one.0 -

They don't have to find a 3-4 week COVERAGE period where there is no event, it would just be nice if they didn't push a huge 50gig download you have to finish before you can even log in DURING an event.
They could have pushed that button to deploy the MANDATORY download in 9 days as opposed to the 4th day of an event and it would not have affected their release schedule in any way.
But customer satisfaction is definitely affected when there are limited time rewards they miss out on because a huge mandatory patch WAS pushed during that event window.

Third? This is the first time I'm aware of needing to completely re-download the client.
The recent PTS doesn't really count. You could keep playing the event and either wait until after to do the complete re-download of the PTS client or download it slowly over a couple of weeks when not playing.0 -

✭@Nerouyn they have definitely pushed mandatory multi-gig patches during events on more than one occasion in the past, as I distinctly remember grumbling about it then as well.
No not a full game download, but still enough gigs worth that it can cause people without fiber internet (the vast majority of people in America) to miss a day of tickets, unless they knew the patch was coming and left their download going while they were at work/school, if that was actually an option.
Some people have family and room mates and can't simply leave the shared computer logged in to their account while they aren't there, as they wouldn't want others accessing their stuff and so would effectively lock the PC down from anyone else using it to do that.
It's not a pitchfork and torches thread, just a humble request to maybe not release multi-gig patches during the days you have a ticket event going on.0 -

So you want them to roll out patches on the weekend at 4 am when no one is working?
Have you tried to hire an engineer and told them they will be doing their work at 4 am and no you won't be paying them anything extra for the trouble?

LOL I feel you are actually straining to make this more complicated than it has to be at this point.
What part of "don't push multi-gig patch during few days of ticket event" leads you to conclude their only other option would be to release it during the wee hours of the morning on a weekend?
Literally most days (normal work days, during normal hours) the game is not in an active ticket event. Why is it an issue to simply push these huge patches during one of these vast majority of days?
Answer: It isn't. They just need better planning, hence the OP.
