Running ESO in a virtual environment

So I have hopefully a pretty simple question. I have a server at home that runs a gaming VM with a GPU passed through. Is it allowed to run ESO in a VM or is this a bannable offense as seen in other MMOs?

✭✭✭✭✭Unless you mean "I operate a server running x instances of ESO so I can bot" or "I run the game inside a VM so I can do shady stuff like memory hacks", I don't see what ZOS have to do with you running the game directly on your main OS or inside a VM. But that's just my very uninformed opinion.0 -

well it can be cheaper if you have multiple workstations..
For example... I have two boys and my wife... they all need a gaming computer.
instead of buying 4 computers... I buy ONE computer and vm 3 computers ...
It's a bit complicated but once it's setup, you kinda just forget about it.

✭Absolutely fine to do
However You’ll naturally loose performance over running it in your non virtualised environment because simply that’s how virtualisation works - especially in hyperv and VMware - so aside from segregation there’s no real reason to do this
If multiple people are playing games on virtual machines using the same physical GPU and CPU you’ll see performance drop like a stone
It’s also worth noting the game is very HDD intensive , so might not be best suited to
Virtualisation in desktop environments
Like I say it will run , but how performant it will be is questionable and indeed subjective

Don't you need ridicilous expensive hardware to have VM run as good as cheap gaming pc?

AFAIK modern OSs and CPUs expressly support virtualization and will even allow direct access by the virtualized system to the host hardware. The VM overhead shouldn't be that big, at least for one VM. When you're talking about several running at the same time, I have no idea.0 -
Spectre216Soul ShrivenPerformance isn't my concern. It's a fairly robust VM that handles most single-player games fine at 30fps. This is mainly just so I can play on the go and stream it to my laptop. My concern was more along the lines of is there anything in the ToS that prohibits this? I know Destiny and WoW have things in theirs that prohibits using a VM or gaming at a computer you are not sitting in front of.0
