If you were limited to one character for your whole account, what class, race, and alliance would you choose and why?
Personally I would make a dark elf Dragonknight for Ebonheart Pact. That way I could tank, mag dps, and stam dps all on the same toon. I could also do PvP or PvE. I could even heal in a pinch if needed, but healing is the thing I do the least. I only choose EP because I like their color scheme the best. I have no particular affinity or aversion to any of the alliances.
P.S. I am almost never on the forums, so if this thread has been done 100 times before I apologize in advance.

Doesnt make them better.
Its a game that I do for fun and to get away from reality.
If I want reality, I have real life for that.
I like being able to play all the classes.
If I had to start over just because the character died, I would not be playing this game beyond the first death.

✭✭I currently have 18 characters of various race and class (on my main account), but if I were forced to choose just one of them, I'd have to go with my Main; a Nord Warden, EP.
To be honest, I could do without the alliance stuff. It only matters in PvP, and I haven't ventured there yet in this game, though I do wish we could go into Cyrodiil unaffiliated (I wish the forced alliance paradigm didn't exist at all).1 -

You could have any number of different characters you just had to go to the saves of those characters when it comes to Elder Scrolls Blades might be an exception as I don't think you can have multiple characters there. Also save and reload is a thing so if you died you can go to a previous save and play from there.PC NA

The class is just the icing on the cake and I enjoy both Dragonknight and Sorcerer a lot.

I think one toon per account would be an especially BAD idea tbh because, over the years, so many guildies have seemed to enjoy different play styles and roles the game offers. That flexibility is must have imo.

✭✭✭✭✭If I only ran one class/spec, my response to the next round of nerfs would be to rage quit the game. With multiple class variants of the same Bosmer, however, I have the flexibility to focus on those versions of her that remain fun and let the ones that have been rendered unfun rest until the silly circular nerf cycle brings them back into favor.
Between silly neverending attempts to 'balance' classes and the game's inherent restrictions limiting playstyles that don't fit the classic D&D tropes (Spellswords, Mystic Archers and other hybrids, for example, fare much worse in ESO than in previous Elder Scrolls games), I find multiple variants necessary to remain with ESO.

Yeah, I couldn't see wasting my time with an MMO (w/many races/classes) that only let me make one character.
But I'm an alt-a-holic, not an endgamer. I've never "leveled everything" on a single character. In any game. And I don't feel that a character has to have everything to be 'complete' or 'ready'.6 -
