Default Lock pick Breakage

I open A LOT of treasure chests and I am wondering if my findings are nearly equal to the norm.

1). The breakage rate of lock picks appears to be one in five (20%) when depressing the 1/3 or 2/3 depth. No breakage, of course, on the full cylinder depress.

This seems to hold regardless of how careful you are.

2). Never more than one broken pick per chest.

Can you confirm my assumptions?

I'd contest the simple percentage on the breakages. I suspect it's a percentage of failures, not of attempts, and likely a different number. The rest seems about right.

    People break lockpicks?

EDIT: I just find lockpicking to be hilariously easy. I wish it were more difficult to be quite honest.

I don't often break lock picks. Definitely nowhere near 20%. When I am on my main though I just do the auto pick thing. I know doing that I fail much more on the easiest chests than I do master chests.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

My experience as well. I don't know what determines lockpick breakage, but I find this extremely rare. Definitely less than 1 in 20 chests, so I'd say the odds per tumbler are somewhere between 0.01 and 0.001. The master chests are the only ones where occasionally I run out of time, but only if I'm not concentrating. A bit more challenge would be appreciated. Not much of a mini-game atm.

Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

It took me over a year to figure out lock picking (granted, I wasn't terribly motivated). It tells you to release when the pin starts shaking, but actually I need to release right above where the shaking starts. I had no idea why I couldn't get it to work so I just forced.

I don't even bother picking then anymore. With the Legerdemain passive, I just hit Force Lock once or twice.

Never had any issue with lockpicks breaking. Master locks are probably the easiest since they move the fastest

I've literally picked them with my eyes closed, to see if I could. Whenever the controller vibrates strongly is when to let go. XD

I have never had any issues with "force lock" I haven't picked locks in any other way in a very long time. I never have to buy picks I get plenty from looting, in fact I get so many that I sell them in bundles of 200. I have never run out of picks, not once. I just force the lock and move on, it's much faster if you are doing a circuit.

It's not difficult to pick locks, it just takes more time, it's not nearly as efficient as just forcing the lock if you have the skill maxed. I don't know why anyone wouldn't max force lock if they are picking, it makes no sense to me.
