cruel flurry set useable on stamplar?

Hey all,
so i finally gave it good to mr Solkyn in vMA. Reward = cruel flurry set. Abit of a disapointment i guess, since the common understanding seems to be that Inferno staff and Bow is the only good drops. Naturally my next aim is to get a good farm going now...

However when i read up on cruel flurry set im not finding any recent info regarding it's useability. I mostly play magicka so know very little about stam builds, i have a stam NB that i mostly stopped using after the nerfs, but am in the process of levelling up a stamplar who i very much enjoy so far. I would love it if i could get some use out of the set here.

So my questions are these; 1) Does cruel flurry proc affect jabs damage? 2) I have full sets of relequen, lokestiiz, and selenes web, is that setup simply better for pve? 3) Are we mostly talking 2 slots of bankspace filling?

Happy for any input

Cruel Flurry set (2 items) When you deal damage with Flurry, your single target damage over time abilities used within 4 seconds gain 1000 Spell and Weapon Damage.

    1) I dont think so, Jabs is not a single target dot.
    2) For PVE the meta is something like Relequen, Lokkestiiz and Velidreth/Selene/Kra'gh so that will be much stronger.
    3) I would keep the Cruel Flurry set, it could become useful again in an upcoming update.

If you want to use this set you want to build it around the strongest single target stamina dot in the game. Im not sure what skill that is but I dont think its worth it. Getting a bow in vMA is quite easy compared to a fire staff, there's a 1/6 chance you get a bow and only a (1/6x3 ) 1/18 chance you get a fire staff.

Hey Septimus. Thats True, didnt think about it being single target only. Sure does limit viability considering that it removes another full set bonus.

I havent found one up to date build (since my clear this morning), that uses this set.

Single target dot, makes one think of stamDK, but i guess i would have found a build by now IF it was viable.

Thanks for your input, i need both The bow and The inferno staff so i guess those odds are both encouraging and frustrating ;-)

Xynode has a build that uses cruel flurry on a stamdk. He describes it as an advanced build, but as far as I know he has been updating it as the dlc's come out.

I read on the PTS forum that Cruel Flurry set is an option for the back bar instead of a bow.

You basically replace Endless Hail and Poison Injection with Flurry and Rending Slashes. Maybe on a stamDK you can alter the rotation to benefit twice from the Cruel Flurry effect: Flurry > Rending Slashes > Flurry > Venomous Claw. Both Rending Slashes and Venomous Claw are 10s dots so it would work pretty well in a rotation.

There is a disadvantage in AoE dmg compared to the Maelstrom bow but I think the single target dps will be pretty good.

This set gave 2K weapon damage in the past, but even at that value it hadn't been meta in PvE for some time, while it was always too awkward for PvP. As part of the Scalebreaker DOT meta the set was nerfed to 1K. Then the DOT meta ended and the set was overlooked and not put back to where it belongs. IMO it should be at 2K+ weapon damage, given that DOTs are at an all time low. I reckon it's totally useless for the time being.

In terms of useful things, I still use the vMA resto in some builds, but only with Radiant Regeneration.

It actually had 3k at 1 point too. I do prefer the 4s buff vs the previous version, but 1k is too little on dots that do very little damage to begin with. 2k with nerfed dots is respectable. 1k is fine if they decide to add back some power, but it looks like they won't revisit the standard anytime soon..

Thanks for all replies, interesting to hear about The change over time. Since i probabably wont use The set on my stamplar im gonna stash it for now.

And wouldnt you know, i finished another round of vma, and got another cruel flurry set (3 swords and one axe now).

AT least its somewhat fun geting better at it

I ran it on my stamsorc once. Daggers. The idea was to make a near 100% crit build with vMA daggers + Advancing Yokeda + Leviathan. It was pretty insane duelling my DK friends with that. At the time it had the 2K weapon damage and buffed the Dawnbreaker DOT portion through the roof. The success was limited to that one duelling session, though.
