Easiest way to balance this game

Give everyone 2 second ping delay/lag instead of just some people and its an even battle field as rotation or a/c wont matter!

I can tell immediately when fighting someone who lives close to the server as they are never where my game says they are so heavies don't land. Its mint! :|

Just because some people have hardware and internet from 90s does not mean rest have to suffer. Even on poor countries you can get decent internet nowdays for cheap.

And if you mean lag on cyrodil zerg, no matter what hardware or connection you have it is going to lag unless they make massive and I mean truly massive upgrades to servers and that won't happen because it is not financially viable.

I have the best internet available and a very capable machine but im in the UK playing on PC NA so no matter what happens im always behind the action, its annoying but it was meant tongue in cheek, I know obviously some are gonna be ahead and theres nothing I can do I just deal. Is what it is.

INB4 someone says play on the EU server.... errr nope its much much worse in EVERY possible way!

I do believe you do not have right to complain about lag if you choose to play on worse server than it is optimal.

That is like getting mustang but choosing eco-boost motor on it.

I’d like to both build on your suggestion and simplify it.

All that is required is for all PC NA traffic to be rerouted to PC EU and vice versa.

PC NA users get to experience the glory of the 304 instant disconnect, freeze frames, loading screen art and 999+ pings, while PC EU get to send each of their instructions half way around the world just to spam Lava Whip every second.

I’m not seeing a downside to this....

Look up "distance latency" before typing this sort of rubbish again.

From the posts about the eu server, the only optimal server is the NA server. Even if you live inside the eu data centre.

Im in midwest US, my average ping to EU server is 150-200 MS which is totally playable.

I know many people in the UK have satellite inet through Sky. Sat internet tends to have horrible ping because the signal has to travel up to the satellite and back down again. Typically you are looking at least at 600 MS travel time with sat inet. If that is what you have, that will be your problem.
Bandwidth does not matter for gaming( unless your downloading/patching). ESO and all MMOs that ive ever played actually use very little bandwidth on their own. I use to play eso without lag while my wife binge watched netflix on a 5 MB down/1MB up connection. ESO doesnt even require 256KB up/down.

The games assets load from your own machine and the "state" of the game loads from the server. So it only sends you updates on changes to the game world, any assets it needs to make those changes visual is pulled for that ridiculous amount of HDD space the game takes up.

Well it depends what time you play. If you live in the USA I'd imagine by the time you log onto PCEU it's off time hours for us in europe (we are in bed sleeping and not playing the game)

So that could explain why you don't encounter many issues. Especially so if all you're doing is questing.

While distance latency sure is an issue, it is not the only one.
I can play any MMO with 20-30 ms stable but ESO i need to be happy for the moments it's 80-90 but ussually fluctuates between 120 and 200.

No idea what the exact issue is but considering other games run more stable pings i doubt it's me or my connexion.

The proper way to balance a game with PVP and PVE in it is to do 1 of two things:

    1) Have gear this is good for PVP but horrible for PVE and vice versa. This is the lazy solution.

    2) Balance the game for PVP and adjust the NPCs to the players. While more difficult and time consuming it is possible in games with level progression since you know players entering this area are going to either be level XX or get murdered by the first NPC they aggro.

How to balance combat in a game, ZOS style:

    1) Knee cap Nerf as to make something slightly overpowered, " LOL, i cant kill a mud crab now" weak.

    2) Take months to make ( drastic) adjustments to balance the game forcing players to make major changes to all their characters and playstyles every patch for a year or more.

    3) Ignore all player feedback when balancing or testing, because what do they know, amiright?

    4) Balance for PVP this patch, and then for PVE next patch... oh wait PVP is mess up again, balance for PVP, or crap now PVE is messed up, balance for PVE. Deving.is.hard!

you don't need crazy internet connection. Absolutely fine is 3-5 MB/s download speed (or 25-40 mbit/s, if you prefer such wierd unit).

It's all about distances from you to game server.

How about option n3, the real one, balance them f***ing separately

It sounds like the servers are much the same with the hardware not being the real problem, it's the NA population that is optimal in that it is evenly spread across the significantly different time zones, whereas the EU population is very much more synchronised time-wise (and probably larger as well).
