Can't catch any fish

Every time i press E (PC) to reel in when a fish bites, recently, 90% of the time i get nothing. This is really weird and i can't work out whats causing it, I'm using the right bait and my latency is fine.

I was fishing in Wrothgar in rivers, it never happened, changed to Salt and barely catch any fish (yes i changed bait).

For the timing, I've tried quickly pressing E, waiting till the last second, and I also tried Votan's fishing addon, but it didn't seem to help.

I have no crazy addons that would be interrupting this, and turned my personality off as well.

Anyone else experiencing this, or got any suggestions?

Have you tried Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl for the fishing buff? It increases your chances for more drops rather than used bait.

I'd disable every add-on regardless of what they are and see if that fixes it, then add them back one at a time if you need them. Bait won't make a difference if the problem is that you're not getting anything. I'd also try rebinding the key, I personally have my middle mouse button set for interaction which I find so much easier than using "E" or anything else on the keyboard. Or do you have a different keyboard you could try, maybe there's an issue developing with your existing one. Does "E" work in every other situation? Lastly, of course, it could just be a timing problem.

Using the correct bait for the water type and pressing E to real in while the pole tip is wiggling guarantees a fish.

You say your using the right bait, it seems your pressing E at the right time, so, that leaves the E key. Did you remap E to another key?

Or, have you tried remapping E just to see if it is your key. To that end, try swapping the keyboard or slightly adjusting the repeat rate.

Is the fishing line snapping like when you hit E before the right time or when you wait too long?

I ask because there was a bug some time ago (I'll edit this post when I find the relevant thread(s)) that prevented fish from being caught.

To test it, I just now fished 3 holes at saltwater in Wrothgar. I caught a fish with every cast, caught 2 black scabbardfish, 1 hairy coffinfish, 1 coral crown.
