Question On Mounts

Hello all!

I was under the assumption that there were certain mounts that were inherently faster than others, so when I searched for fastest mount in eso, I'm fining pages that indicate that the speed of all mounts is the same. So I would like to understand, since I'm at max riding skill, why I see people occasionally blazing past me when I'm at a full gallop.

Thanks!

Assuming fully maxed mount speed and mount stamina, all mounts have the same max speed, @Death_Stalker.

Players may be using the Rapid Maneuver skill in the Alliance War:Assault skill line ... which has access to the major gallop buff.

In addition, check to make sure you didn't run out of mount stamina on a long ride.

Could be they're using rapids from the PVP skill lines or have the CP windrunning passive unlocked which gives a 2% boost to mounted speed and movement speed.

Is our mount's maximum stamina and rate of stamina regeneration based on our own?

It's all based on how much training you have put in to them. They have their own stamina and speed. And like others said, assuming maxed out speed all mounts have same speed unless using that rapid spell.

I can answer where OP may have found conflicting information.

Way back in the day, mounts did have different stats.

This hasn't been the case for years though and now the free level 10 horse is mechanically identical to the rarest of mounts and everything between.

This would always be in non-PVP, if that helps. I was not sure whether there were any Traits or Sets that would grant speed while mounted.

Even if you don't PVP get into Cyrodill once and do the tutorial quest which is enough to unlock alliance skill Rapid manouver which gives you massive mount speed boost upon activation. There is also this CP passive mentioned that affect mount speed.

You can use the Rapid Maneuver skill (from the PvP Assault skill line) in PvE territory as well. Very handy when you need to travel overland.
