How’s magblade (PVE)

How to the mag classes generally compare right now? Mainly looking at dps and sustain?

Sorcs are still strong. I run pet and a non-pet versions frequently in raids and dungeons. No complaints. Damage, shields, healing, sustain is all strong. Its my go-to in pug runs.

Just leveled up a mag DK, wearing FGD + Spell Strat + Grothdarr. Having a great time and it feels really powerful. Getting used to the no dedicated heals thing, might go get vigor just in case. Haven't run vet trial yet with it yet. So far, strong damage and sustain. Not as tanky as his stamina cousin, but still getting the rotation down
    down[/quote]

Would be interested in a non pet sorc skill bar setup. I’m familiar with the pet sorc option before it got gutted.

Also looking at mag dk- that was my first eso character I ever made and I used to really enjoy it.

@Icy_Waffles What I did for my non-pet sorc was start with Alcast's build, then adapt the skills for whatever content I run. My standard is his CP setup with Mother's Sorrow as my base set. Use Necro when I have a pet, use FGD when I don't, run Zaan for both. Its primarily my pug trials character that I load up

Mag DK is fun. Never played one before as my first character was a stam DK which got old.

@El_Borracho okay I’ll check it out.

Guess I really have to give some more testing with what I’ve got. Not all my classes have mage guild and Psijic maxed out etc.

Magblades are still pretty solid, (and in my opinion rank top on the fun chart) they need a lot of work but more or less play the same as a couple years ago, though now we have a few more options from class abilities. (Shade and lotus fan are both viable now) I dont think the rotation has gotten easier though. You havd to go full dynamic on rotation *** get good performance and a single missed weave can throw off your whole parse by a disproportionate amount of dps because suddenly things arent lining up. Still really solid sustain though elemental weapon meta and lag make again missing a weave a harshly punished mistake.

Swallow soul is still d ed cent, though i like running funnel health in lieu of a shield instead and just recasting every so many seconds.

You can go with a static rotation and still hit mid 80s at least.
If youve got a source or video on that id love to see it. My best is above 70 on trial dummy (but only 43 this patch on 3 mil, hmmm) dont know by how much, and that is with a semi dynamic rotation. Now granted i could probably squeek out a little more if i missed 0 weaves but that seems to be harder this patch then last and i havent been able to figure out why.

Fully static rotation drops me down to somewhere around 37k on 3 mil, havent done it on trial in awhile, but it was mid 60s i think last time on trial dummy.

Always trying to improve so i would love to see this magic (no sarcasm) static rotation in action and break it down for my use.

(Im on console by the way)

I'm also on console. This parse was just after the patch dropped and was a bit laggy so I had to slow it down a little more than I should have to. I'm also not the best magblade and there's no bash weaving. A better player could probably hit 87-88k with this rotation with some bash weaving.

    @OWLTHEMAD

Thats pretty awesome, what gear and race were you running for this? (Dont need the full deets just sets and race though i can probably guess)

Its not that different from my static, but definitely gets better numbers. I dont futs with bash weaving. Id never use it in a live scenario, so why use it on a parse?

What changes do you make to your bar for actual content? I notice you dont have space for a shield or self heal and i prefer to test my dps closer to what ill actually run in a dungeo /trial.

I'm a dark elf running siroria and mother's sorrow.

For most content I'd just drop degen for mystic orbs. If I need a heal swap ele weapon for swallow soul. And since you don't need cripple for the passive you can drop it for inner light if you want. Not sure if that's optimal but that's what I usually do.

If you want a shield you can drop shade for a shield. Again, not sure if that's optimal but it's what I do. Only really run a shield for vas and I figure it will be attacking olms sometimes while it's protected so probably not a very good skill there.

I main a dark elf magblade. Feels very powerful, fun to play and hard to die in both pve and PvP.

Most definitely decent. I can solo dungeons no problem with her, vma is a breeze provided you know mechanics and the build I came up with for PvP makes her hit hard but tanky too. Lol Ton of fun to play. Oh btw I went vamp for the extra recovery.

I haven’t played in a while. Getting back into the swing of things. I played magblade before I left and really enjoyed the character. I’ve kept up somewhat on some of the major changes in the game.

    How’s magblade?
    Dps?
    Sustain?

I have Zaan, mothers sorrow front bar, VMA back at, and regular false gods devotion.

A couple of years ago or something, I made a magblade healer. I was maining heals at that point and experimenting. (just posted eslewhere about this actually in a vampire thread). I therefore never really unlocked or experienced magblade until recently, the build had been laying dormant and virtually unused.

Anyhoo so recently I decided to make a vampire themed build (before vampire update was announced), and magblade seemed perfect given the nature and aesthetics of the skills. Ive basically ended up creating a full blooded (pun intended as always) magblade dps.

Honestly, its incredible fun. Ive been very pleasantly surprised by the ease of its use, sustain, and damage output. I dont know about the meta end game performance, but for every day ESO, including veteran content, its doing just fine!

Note that I have been using stamblades for ages (I have both a pve and a pvp stamblade), very different feel and play style the magica blade, for me at least.

UPDATE for anyone that cares. I have tested out a few of the classes. I have chosen to play my magblade. I still have some skills to level and some work to do on the rotation. Fact is, I am actually enjoying the class- even if it’s not the best anymore. And that’s what matters. That being said. Buff Nightblade 😂
