Just wondering if this will ever be something available in the crown store.

ZOS has stated that, since the launch of One Tamriel, they have very little interest in an Alliance change token.

Also note: Unless you owned Any Race Any Alliance or your character was an Imperial, you couldn't benefit from an Alliance Change token anyway. Which may be a factor in their decision.

When ZOS passes up a monetization opportunity you know it must be for a compelling reason.

Your alliance is permanently connected to what races you can be (unless you purchase Any Race, Any Alliance — which you can’t before you create your first toon), your starting zone for the alliance and main questlines, which Harborage you can use, where you pick up certain guild lines, the order in which you do Cadwell’s Silver and Gold, and of course your side in Cyrodiil. There may be other things as well.

They’d really have to figure out how to extricate the alliance from the main questlines, among other things, in order to program a change token. To circumvent that they could require that you have finished Cadwell’s Gold, but I would assume many people have not done so who would be interested in buying a token. (Usually the crown store options save you time, but in a case like that they’d require a lot of time investment to be able to purchase a token at all.) Regardless, they have no interest in doing that work, despite the potential payoff.

They're fully aware they could make money, and since they haven't done it, I tend to believe that it's as difficult to do as they say.

It's a similar story with class change tokens.

There have been a lot of discussion threads on this already, @Icky ... if you do a simple search in the forums.

But, the answer has already been explained above.

It was easier to make a new thread and get fresh answers rather then search forums for old information. I'm glad you had the energy to post a comment about how I should perform a search on the forums.

They have said repeatedly that it's not something they are looking at or interested in doing mainly because of the many things related to alliance that would have to be changed. It would be a database nightmare and potentially very error prone.

There is no new news because the old news is still the current news.

    It's not happening

So your only options are to continue playing with your current character, or start a new character in your chosen alliance

Pretty much this as Zos have said they have seen the request for such an option and specifically stated they had no interest in offering it. Cannot get more firm than that.

Some have stated that Zos said the alliance choice is very intertwined with many different areas of the game and as such would be very challenging to make it happen. If this is the case then it is more time and effort than it is worth to do.

Since it is very easy to level up a new character and only affects PvP it is not that big of a deal.

I guess you guys are right. They can make more money off someone creating a new character then alliance changing. I do think it's funny when people think it would be a "database nightmare". We sent people to the moon so I'm sure we can figure out how to change alliances in a video game.

Thanks for the input everyone. This answered my question. I'd rather they spend more time improving performance then putting effort onto an option like this if it's going to be difficult to accomplish. Not being sarcastic.

It was not ZOS who sent people to the moon. I somehow doubt they’d be willing to outsource to NASA.

What is really crazy is considering the 25+ billion USD (260+ billion USD adjusted for inflation) it costs to for the Apollo missions where 6 landed on the moon. Very odd comparison to use. Seems to suggest spending as much as it costs for what I want even if it makes no sense.

I did not dispute it happened, that the great USA did it. Zos never said it could not be done either. I was merely pointing out how poor of a comparison, and still is.

However, you are very much entitled to create as many threads as you wish. Zos said they actually do see the requests but have no interest in fulfilling them. So have at it.
