    An Auction House.

    Not Lore-Friendly

Neither are Dragons in Elsweyr, non Aldmer races settling in Alinor, or exotic Indrik mount infestation all across Tamriel. Where the f@ck did this mutant creature come from btw? And what's the deal with adding more retexutres of this lore unfriendly creature the store?

Anyways, at least Auction Houses would add practical, functional value to existing game play.

@KyleTheYounger not true. elder scrolls lore operates on something of an 'unreliable narrator'. the only reason people think dragons were extinct before skyrim, is because thats what all the npcs in that game tell you

but most nords at the time of skyrim are backwater normies reveling in the history of their ancestors, so of course they want to believe they wiped out dragons completely

it's the same writing style that creates the high elves' narrative that they were the first sophisticated mortals to inhabit nirn, and that's why they see themselves as entitled to rule it...but the truth is not so simple. hell, even mai'q the liar puts it as bluntly as you can when he says that dragons were never gone, they were just hiding (i know he uses the word 'invisible')

i would advise anyone who cares about elder scrolls lore to look a little deeper than not at all

sorry i got a little too side tracked with my lore rant. there was a genuinely good point in your post touching on what i refer to as the 'death of an artstyle' as brighter and shinier things get added to a game over time that conflict with the existing world or artstyle as the art team scrapes deeper and deeper into the metaphorical barrel

1 - Focus on role identity and either flesh it out so that it has real meaning and impact, or dump it completely. The playerbase is endlessly confused with whether they 'need' a tank or healer to progress content, it's not clear at all or consistent in either the message or game mechanics / design.

2 - Have a single, unified auction house.
Keep the sellers for fluff, but have it all connect to the same place. The current design on AH selling atm is hopelessly broken, needless and frustrating. The need to be in extra guilds JUST for selling in game items is tedious, unnecessary and bad game design. With all the bugs and money exploits / market breaking lately, it's clear ZOS cannot make this work consistently either.

3 - Dump the CP grind, it's ridiculous. 810CP is a stupidly long grind and the confusing Champion Points system creates a lot of unique design choice, but adds little to the overall game balance and cohesiveness. There's a LOT of pointless fluff in Champion Points that can be boiled down to a far more simplistic design. Other MMOs worked this out years ago and redesigned their systems accordingly. ZOS needs to do the same. Telling people to reach level 50 is bad enough - but then grind 810 CP after this? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???

4 - A complete overhaul of the crafting system is needed. Right now you can have one character to complete all crafts and whilst some love the idea of one toon to do it all, it limits the amount of player interaction in the game. WoW limits your toons to 2 crafting professions only (and they split crafting and gathering) to create a dymanic environment where players NEED to interact to share/trade to progress crafting. In addition, the relevance of end game crafting needs to be really looked at, right now the only real 'value' in crafting is the writ system - would be nice if all crafting had real value to bring to the community and AH to make money from... now it's really limited.

5 - Player storage is a joke and needs to be fixed. By telling players they should be paying additional $$ to get a crafting bag to solve a storage issue that was deliberately engineered by ZOS is insidious. Deliberately crafting inconvenience into your game design only to sell you the solution for real world $$ leaves a REALLY bad taste in the mouth for all.

6 - We need better in game facilities NOT tied to the Store. Like a Barber! ZOS 'selling' hair designs and character asthetic changes for real world $$ is again, a bad image and a clear design intent to bleed the playerbase.

7 - Bring in more rare 'fun' items to drop in PvE. Rather than putting so many pets and mounts in the store again for real world $$, there should be far more delves/dungeons/bosses that drop pets, mounts and other collectables. It's currently there in the smallest amounts possible, this needs to be greatly expanded to promote solo/group PvE grinds. Even throw in similar rewards into the PvP areas!

8 - Bring Rare Spawns into the game. Have zones that will generate a tougher unique mob that carries an exclusive loot table with rare/valuable/fun cosmetic items. Right now we have bosses with generic loot tables based on zone location which is honestly boring. Having random rare spawns roam the PvE world with unique loot tables would be far more fun and interesting.

9 - Add a ranked arena PvP mode to the game. I don't know why this hasn't been done in the past, but it would make sense and bring a more competitive scene into play for those who prefer and focus PvP. Ganking n00bs in Cyrodil or rolling Pre-mades over randoms in BGs isn't proving anything at all. Create Arena play with 2, 3 and 4 players per side. Then introduce seasons, rewards for rank, gear etc etc It's time.

10 - Player Housing needs to be updated. The core design of Player housing is actually really good, allows for a lot of creativity and social interaction. But it's weighed down by ridiculously small item limits and lack of interactivity for a lot of household items. Not being able to fish in a home that has water feels wrong. Not being able to repair your gear with your bought vendors is so confusing. Not being able to actually craft your own storage in your home feels like we're (again) just being exploited for real $$ from the store. We need to be able to plant collectable herbs in our homes! There's a LOT that can be done here, but the focus seems to be more in selling more content for real $$

There's a lot more game design elements that feel under done in this game right now. The over all experience is fine - great in fact - on many levels.

But there's so many little quality of life fixes that would make the experience so much better.

Coming from other MMOs like World of Warcraft - a much older MMO - but it feels like Blizz learned a lot of these lessons years ago and fixed their game where it feels like ZOS are fumbling around and not even looking at what other MMOs get right to consider for their own game.

I'm not saying ZOS needs to copy their competitors, but it would make complete sense for them to look at what other MMOs do that make their playerbase happy and bring their own twist on it to this MMO.

Right now, there's FAR too much focus on selling content for real $$ in ESO which is just leaving a bad taste in the mouth .

Changes I would like to see:

    1. access to dungeons (present and future) that i cannot play at this time due to requirement for 4 players -- i have been playing since beta and my former groups and guilds have broken down over time. For the moment, i am tired of rebuilding new alliances and would like to have access to ALL the content that i am paying for even tho at present i am playing solo
Suggestion-- multiple levels of difficulty to satisfy all player types (with commiserate levels of loot): raid, vet, normal, and solo.

    2. portable crafting tables so can deconstruct overload of loot while on the go

    3. flying mounts

    4. ability to automatically Follow so i can use a character on primary account to assist one of my characters on secondary account

    5. loosen the crafting system for jewelry so that mats not quite so costly -- at least through purple. as it presently stands, jewelry making ability falls far below potential and is not much fun and the least useful craft.

    1. Make PVP as it was suposed to be when ESO launched as a PVP centric game.

    2. Better servers.

    3. Better coding

    4. Leveled zones in the standard game ( Vanilla one). This way ..the original concept of the story will not be missed by the new players and also some challenge will be added.

    5. A real Guild system with Guild Ranks/ levels , guild quests, guild missions , guild bonuses.

    6. One day per week free PVP for all but with consequnces ( Outlaws vs Enforcers)

7.An horizontal and a vertical progression in the game. What happened with the new CP system?

    8. Spellcrafting

    9. No more nerfs!

    10. Revamp of the old sets from the standard game.

    11. A minimap ( like Votan's one )

    12. New tier of gear ( All CP 160 gear can be upgraded to CP 300 using some tokens found in ALL the normal and VET dungeons .

( Example : To fully upgrade all the gear we wear 10 normal dungeon runs or 5 VET dungeons runs should provide all the necessary tokens)

    13. Gardening system . What happened with this one? ZOS promissed this.

    14. A gear token system ( very useful for the players who can't become elitists)

Every normal trial should provide some geat tokens. These tokens can be used to buy perfected gear. Example : 30 tokens for a piece of armor and 50 tokens for a weapon.

Give players the option to toggle the display of those fugly flashy mounts and skins (as in: replace them with a generic mount/normal skin if the toggle is active).

More weapon skill lines to allow for greater diversity

Magic skill lines that function essentially similiar to weapon skills rather than spreading out aspects of traditional ES magic over various classes

Getting rid of crown crates or making gems directly purchasable, e.g. 15 gems for 1500 crowns). That way players wouldn't want need to gamble for stuff they may want.

This is the kind of talk that’s doomed from the get go.

I would remove all of the shiny-come-see me and keep the universe as it was meant to be enjoyed.
I would remove the battlegrounds, which in my opinion is the reason of the whole roles mess.
I would level the zones, requiring actual progress and focus from the player. This world was never meant as anything else than the slowly developing story. Sure, one could travel and pick up small quests, but i would re-introduce the coherent telling.

I would slow launch of new material waaaaaaaaay down and prepare for an overhaul of already launched materials.

And I would make all group material solo-able

My advice would be to anyone who cares about elder scrolls lore is to play the older SINGLE PLAYER TES games.

Install DOS BOX etc and play from TES 1: Arena to TES IV: Oblivion. You would immediately notice a very STARK difference in the quality of the lore, character development, NPC story writing game play mechanics as the franchise progresses from the era of Julian Le Fay (the founding father of the Elder Scrolls for whom the Aedra Julianos is based) to that which is now Todd Howard's myopic vision.

And if the younger gen TES fan boys (for whom Skyrim most likely was their first ever TES game on console NOT PC) could discipline themselves to endure the outdated graphics playing Arena to Oblvion, they would immediately realize the complete bastardization of TES lore with ESO to date.

I know. I've been (an increasingly disillusioned and disenfranchised) TES fan boy since Daggerfall.

Lore and story telling quality swan dived into the sewer as the TES universe became an increasingly shallow, world exploration based, looter go-fetch-kill NPC X-return for reward Y based RPG. Evolution of 24+ years of world lore became increasingly stagnated by the time Skyrim rolled around. All thanks to the lack of creative insight on the part of Todd Howard. The same Todd Howard responsible for the destruction of single player Fallout franchise with F76. For all the same selfish, monetary, EABorg reasons he's seen it fit to destroy single player TES with cancerous features like CC, the move to exclude FREE 3rd party mod creator content, and completely monopolize control of all DLC/mod sources through restrictions on what's uploaded to Bethesda.net and the CC store.

ZoS merely jumped the bandwagon and made this monopoly of mod customization official with the pervasive online/MMO requirement. Which gives them free license to dilute and mutate single player TES lore to how they see fit for ESO. So every new "featured DLC/Chapter" introduces more cause for despair for the future of the TES franchise. From over-monetization in the store, to exploitation with loot box gambling with mobile based Blades, to increasingly shallow story based content in ESO, to fact it's becoming very likely Skyrim will be the last true single player game Bethesda will ever release thanks to ESO (as a pure offline/non MMO/ non micro transaction designed game)

Too much salt to rant on about here.

I know. I've been (an increasingly disillusioned and disenfranchised) TES fan boy since Daggerfall.

1.The ability to, after you have maxed let's say 2-3 chars to 810, to get the option to Insta level your next chars straight to 810, like when you can skip the tutorials after doing them once... it wouldn't be unfair since they/we have already gone through that struggle off leveling chars multiple times and do not spend hours and days grinding levels, skill points etc.

      2. To make Sky shards and Skillpoints account-wide. Would not be overpowered because you still need to lvl the Skill lines to use them.

      3. Same with Mount Upgrades. Hate to make new chars and then see how it runs faster than rides his ^insert creature here^

      4. Separate PVP from PVE completely( skills and sets). And make a "clean" version of Cyro/IC.

      5. Get rid of Guild traders/ Trading guilds and Create a OSRS GE style place in every Alliance capital and/or in a "clean" version of IC bringing ONE Market District where you can get everything and do not have to travel 90% of Tamriel to get some motifs etc.

      6. Bring an Imperial Faction to Cyro defending the "EMP keeps" and IC itself from the other alliances. And/or Bring a mercenary "faction" that will fight for the highest bidder ( like it was in medieval times and throughout the ages) for a set amount of days (more gold longer service),

      7. Able to craft your Houses to make them "more Unique" like Skyrim etc. And the ability to grow All kind fo ingredients for Alchemy and Provisioning and Add small Mines/ forests/fields ( depending of the location) to Get Grafting mats.
+ Hire NPCs to Tend to those on a Daily fee

      8. Possibility to actually Use Wardrobes, Desks, Drawers and not to depend on those Damn expensive chests.

9, Possibility to convert crowns to gold vise versa for a small fee depending on how much you are converting.

      10. And Lastly, Ban Cheaters/exploiters/Bots straight away (IP ban etc whatever it takes)

(extra point) People who want a Bard and/or Monk Class/skill line and Those who want "ESO Classic" get also banned

Overland veteran mode to make questing more challenging and engaging.
It could even be the same mob health/dmg multiplier thats used in vet dungeons.

Undaunted Training Grounds, where players can practice dps, tanking and healing.
There could also be specific Undaunted Tiers so the Grouping Tool can put players together of a similar skill level.

This one will concentrate on things are that probably practically possible at this time - so no mention of furnishing limits etc.

Improve loot for fishing by a million times.

Improve the crafting survey system to allow easier collection of multiple surveys.

Treasure chests - please some actual treasure yes.

Better balance of types of fishy puddles in future zones - i.e. no zone please that has only two lake spots that are almost never there.

A small trader for your home - either limited to just your own items or something like that if you think it will affect the outside stalls too much. It would be a good reason to visit a home though no?

Things to do when you are in a home - a music system, a games system - something other than sitting around and talking. Even home fishing would be massively welcome and perhaps placeable different kinds of fishy puddles in homes in different areas could alleviate the shortage of the right kinds of puddles outside?

make the homes more interactive (ie. more sims 3 like) instead of just passive decor creative side activities.

We can finally bathe in bath tubs/make an immersive bath area. But more immersion is needed to make your home feel like one. We should have additional UI elements that add light survival functionality to the game. Basic hunger, thirst and disease health bars. So food and drink have more meaninful use besides being healing/magicka/stamina potions. Also at minimum be able to

      1. Have a toggable feature that lets you use rooms in your homes as suggested by their design. example:
      2.
      • Using the bedrooms to RP sleep on the beds. Which would be a practical feature if survival Hud elements were included. Your health regen and overall health bar would be negatively impacted from going game days of sleep deprivation. This would also double as an immersive log out option as well. Why? Because beds were designed for sleeping.
      • Use areas in the kitchen. Like use the cooking fire to make food and drink like normal

      2. Have a crafting/repair area with tools like anvil, clothes, jewelery etc crafting stations. This is good for homes located in the most remote places like the Psijic Villa in Artaeum

      3. Mannequins that let you store and display those dozens of armor sets you keep getting as quest rewards, dungeon boss drops and/or craft at said set workshops.

      4. Actual interactive furniture storage like wardrobes that let you store clothing, armor, weapons and other items. YES. You can do this in one of the macro transaction store chests. But it would be nice if this storage could be further customized from a chest to buying furniture stuff a wardrobe, desk etc. instead.

      5. Interactive furniture like desks and book cases so besides reading, you can also store scrolls and other paper/book documents. Baskets etc. for storing food and raw foods like fish in the kitchen etc. Also book cases to collect and display your lore library if desired. As lore books are found, they appear in your lore library. Interacting with them in your home automatically opens them for reading like you currently can on your character anywhere in the world.

      6. Have a trophy/display area to display collectibles and achievements. Like the fishing challenge and other rare items like the chattering skull etc etc.

      7. A den/study area where your personal banker would hang out when not summoned while you're outside your residence

      8. More home decor options like immersive paintings. Add a painting skill. Allow players to screen capture pics of landscapes, things they want in game. Then paint said screen capture with painting animations. example: screen capture a shot of the Red Mountain and be able to paint said picture with several strokes of the brush on an easel (which immediately appears by pressing a hot key). After several seconds, the complete painting is immediately stored in player inventory. Where it can be retrieved for placing within the home at a later time. Great feature for bragging rights showing off all those PvP Cyrodil battles and dungeon bosses you defeated :D

      9. A chapel/worship/altar room which conveniently let you keep all the Stones (lady, mage etc) together in one place.
      • Basically a convenience for those impatient/lazy players who don't care to travel to the end of Tamriel to find these stones and change the boons/blessings these stones give their character.
      • Add special worship altars like Sithis (there's a statue for this already in the store). Simply re-purpose it as a smaller clone of itself and add the stone ability to grant DB faction PCs a timed Spirit of Padomay stamina feature. Usable for 1-2 hrs and only once per day.
      • Similar altar/statues for deadra like the Nocturnal for Thieves Guild members
      • Molag Bal and Hircene altars for vamps and werewolves
      • Other daedric prince altar statues the likes of Boethia, Dagon etc for those players with Dunmer characters and/or who want to RP being secret Aeylid worshippers etc
      • Other aedric altar statutes for those players who want to worship the Divines

      1. Tweak racial passives:
      1. a) is for Argonians: add poison resistance equal to their disease resistance, double their healing bonus, and add .5m hiding bonus per rank of their top tier passive.
      2. b) is for Bosmer: return their stealth passive (1m hiding bonus per rank) and remove the useless detection bonus.
      2. Remove the passive "Improved Sneak" from the medium armor line (there are several proposed replacements for this skill already, since a sizable segment of the community has no attraction to the stealthy arts), and change the legerdemain skill "Improved Hiding" in the following way:
      • Reduces the cost of Sneak by 10/20/30/40% and 1/3/5/7% per piece of Medium or Light Armor equipped. Reduces the size of your detection area while Sneaking by 4/5/6/7% and 1/2/3/4% per piece of Medium or Light Armor equipped.
      Justifications

As ESO currently stands, there is one AND ONLY ONE race that has any kind of bonus to any thieving abilities: in fact it has a bonus to two of the core three thieving skills. The core thief skills are hiding, picking pockets, and lockpicking; Khajiit have bonuses to the first two of those. In those games that had racial skill bonuses (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim), four races have had bonuses to these skills: Bosmer (55), Khajiit (50), Argonians (30), and Dunmer (5). Bosmer, Khajiit, and Argonians had thief bonuses in 2 of those three games; while only Bosmer and Khajiit have had bonuses in all three. It is complete and utter nonsense for only Khajiit to have thief bonuses; especially since across those games they were the SECOND TIER thieving race. The lore also makes it clear that the art of thievery, and particularly stealth, is of central importance in Bosmeri culture; and there are several dialogs that make it clear that Bosmer are skilled at hiding. Returning the hiding bonus to Bosmer is entirely justified, and there is no valid reason to persist with the ridiculous detection garbage which doesn't even have the slightest application in the vast majority of the game.

However, Argonians have it worse. Their passives are mathematically weaker than all other races. Their loss of poison resistance is also contrary to lore and in-game dialog. However, there is some validity to them having better disease resistance than poison resistance, so just adding the resistance to poison equal to their disease resistance but maintaining having only the immunity to the diseased effect would reflect that. Doubling their healing done bonus would address most of the mathematical imbalance. Adding a half-strength hiding bonus would reflect both their lore (hunted and oppressed by outsiders, as well as their heritage of having 'shadowscale' assassin/thieves) and their bonuses to thieving skills in previous games.

Moving the hiding bonuses out of the medium armor skill tree also makes sense from both gameplay and lore reasons. There are multiple examples of mage/thief and mage/assassins in the lore, previous games, and even the current game. However, having the stealth skill in the medium armor passive tree makes this difficult to achieve effectively. By moving the skill into the legerdemain "Improved Hiding" skill and by giving a flat bonus regardless of armor, and then an additional bonus for each bit of light or medium armor worn, the highest bonus for people in all medium armor would be unchanged from what it is now. However, those using light armor would see significant improvement; those wearing 5h/1m/1l or 1h/5m/1l or any other mixed combination of armor would see a slight improvement. This also opens up a space for a medium armor skill that is not limited to a specific gameplay style that really shouldn't have ever been limited to a specific armor type.

Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

I would scale the map up by factor 10

No invis borders and climbing with stamina

      No neon pets/mounts/items

      Same weather for everyone

No sets. All armor and weapons would be crafted and had the same +pool, +sustain and +damage. The 5th piece would open a slot for dropped or crafted proc runes.

      No crits, no CC

Body collision enabled everywhere incl. Cyrodiil.

I'd limit those "Dragons?! In your own homeland? What are you going to do?" people to a single city. It's ridiculous that they're in so many cities. Why, ZOS?!?!

      1. I would really like to be able to choose in which character creation environment to create a new character. The one from Summerset was horribly lit, for example.

      2. and once that is done, I would also like the option to choose which intro to play.

      -Adjustable difficulty for Overland-Content.
-Soloversions of Dungeons and Raids for Story-Purposes
      -Less researchtime for Crafting
      -Accountwide Achievements
      -More Solo-Challenges like VMA
      -Better balanced Veteran-Dungeons

Add those and ESO would be my favourite MMORPG.
