Is there a fix for the extremely slow mails?

I've been waiting for tens of minutes and then i find this thread seeing its been a problem since 2014...

Its actually significantly faster than it used to be. in general, my maiils arrive within a minute or two, without having to change zone. I remember when I had to change zone to get the maile to arrive and even then sometimes it still wouldnt appear.

The fix is on ZOS's end. We can only work around it.

    Edit:

Sorry to burst those dreams for who think it might be fixed in a performance update: ZOS turned instant mail off intentionally because it was putting a lot of stress on the servers, causing a lot of lag. This was back in 2014, when performance was not as bad as now.
Interesting. So they deliberately made mails inconvenient. They pulled the same thing on guild banks to "fix" a duplicating bug.

This is what I call bad performance optimisation, since now people do full zone transfers which puts way more stress on the servers than a simple check new mail button would...

    Depends on convenience

If the wayshrine is near, port to a different zone

If its not near, port to one of my houses

It's not just the mails you send out.
Its also the mails you receive from the guild traders.
And i've been waypointing so many times and no items received.

If I've bought something from a guild trader, it usually isn't an issue, because I need to take a wayshrine afterward anyway, so I just check my mail after taking the wayshrine.

If the guild trader was in my home town, I usually port home, exit, and head back to the crafting stations. Or, if I've got stolen items or haven't visited the silent Argonian yet that day, I'll just visit the Outlaws Refuge before heading back to wherever.

I've heard that if you haven't checked your mail yet during a given login session on a character, the first mail comes instantly. But if you've already checked your mail, you have to wait for it. I don't know if that's true, but it seems like it is.

I suspect that the timer cycle is universal and constant, meaning if someone mails you something and you're already 3/4 of the way through the current cycle, the mailed item will arrive quicker than if you were only 1/4 of the way through the cycle. I'm just guessing about that, but it seems like bounty works that way-- i.e., sometimes I'll earn bounty and it will decrease almost instantly, whereas other times I have to wait the full 3 minutes for it to decrease. So I'm guessing the mail timer might work in a similar fashion.

Log out, log back in. Takes less than a minute (for me.... YMMV).

    This or . . . .

    Zoning works too

This. Both work very well and are likely to be our only solutions for the foreseeable future.
