PS4 Performance

After the patch today, PvP has gotten worse. More lag than in the Mayhem event, mounts glitching, bar swap doesn’t exist in a fight, and the load screens.

I’ll never understand how they won’t just focus fully on fixing the game rather than shoving new content in our faces. It’s not fun anymore.

Ya can confirm Kaal PS4 NA was Kraap

Log’d in went to deconstruct mailbag items but decon kept freezing up...

ZC was full of complaints of lag and trading bluescreens for extreme lag and skills no firing

Went off to battle and ya...it was a mess...hard enough trying to keep a target in front of you let alone trying to have meaningful battle

Than after about 30 min of this I bluescreened

The major purpose of update 25 is to fix performance. Wait for update 25. If it's terrible... THEN complain.
They are quite figuratively doing exactly what everyone has been begging them to do for years... fully rewrite the spaghetti and fix it.

Hey all, just to give a quick update here: The most recent memory management changes brought to PC showed promising results and we are currently aiming to bring them to consoles next week, exact date TBD. This should reduce the issues with crashing you have seen so far. Thank you all again for your patience here.

Hey everyone, just a quick update on the date for the incremental. It's currently planned for next week on February 5th.

It has been explained very nicely and accurately in another, related thread why this approach does not work the way it's supposed to. This is the post:

Read this very carefully and you might see the reason why those patches before didn't changed anything. The game is developed on PC's and tested there. Only after finishing it it's backported to the Console platform. This might work mostly for XBox (which at it's core is just a modified Windows 10 system), but the PS4 is a different system. The graphics UI is slightly different then W10's and the memory system is different as well (PS4 is running a Unix-oid system at it's core).

If you read the statement you see that they again developed and tested it on PC and that they are hoping that it will work on Consoles. It's very obvious that ZOS has no comprehensive testbed for their Consoles. You could see that coming over the last few years as the Console releases were becoming worse and worse. Improving Console performance, features or stability has never been a priority. We are simply cashcows to keep the game alive for the PC platform, nothing more, nothing less.

There is a fundamental difference in refactoring code to work more efficiently using modern methods and cribbing in a fix quickly between patches. U25 is a code refactor. They are rewriting the way things work completely for parts of the game.
A "memory fix" could simply be "oops we noticed a leak and I THINK i fixed it" kinda thing.(mostly you dont fix it quite that easily)

The PS4/PC issue @CassandraGemini mentioned can also apply though not quite as much as people think. PS4 has issues compared to PCs yes but anything that improves memory handling is generally an improvement on the platform.

    Cool...

However, the OP was directly related to the Patch Maintenance PS4 received on Feb5
Which was intended to improve issues
It did not improve but has actually made things worse...

    Thus the OP

Thus your comments...irrelevant to the topic

Wait for Update25 to Fix the issues
the Current Patch Maintenance was supposed to fix before complaining the Current Patch Maintenance Didn’t Fix what it was supposed to Fix?

    Cool

Nope, they are completely relevant due to the simple fact that there have been no major changes to the game. If it was running like crap on PS4s since u24 it will still be running like crap on ps4s until U25 lands. That is the point people seem to not get. U25 is the next major revision. Until U25 anything you see is a bandaid. I don't care what a patch note says no major changes will ever be applied in a short term patch cycle. They take way too long to QA/QC.

In short. PS4 has been complaining since U24. Yep. U24 pooched you. You will be complaining about it until U25. There are no promises U25 will fix your issue though it's far more likely than a patch.

Pve zones and trials are also affected. Long loading screens, freezes, rubber banding... Performance is just terrible, especially in prime time.

I guess we just have to suffer on PS4 for a month to see IF U25 works or not. It’s just getting old considering how much money we all spend on this game. I do play other games, online games, and I don’t have these issues. It is all specific to ESO sadly.
