If you were to create a new character....

Drop the $ to buy all zones skyshards, skill lines etc from the beginning to just level up and enjoy the story, see EVERY nook and cranny, do every quest as you come to it what would you create? A character that can do it all just to enjoy without rushing/hunting skyshards and topping off skill lines.

    That is ALL my characters..

No point in flying to the endgame only to discover that you haven’t got a clue how your character works.

You’ll just look like an idiot.

And have zero fun along the way...

People who describe any part of a game as a ‘grind’ need their heads examined.

But you get the skyshards & skill lines while doing all that. Why waste the money?

I enjoy playing the game. Paying to not play the game does not entice me.

I did that exactly once - trying to get a new character endgame-ready as soon as possible through mindless grinding, xp, skyshards, lorebooks, everything, and regretted it so much afterwards that I never even thought of doing it again. It sucks all the fun out of playing, or at least for me it does, so much so that I never really used that toon all that much because I just didn't really have the same connection to her that I do with all my other characters. It just didn't feel right.

Oh, and I would never even consider paying for skyshards or skill lines and the like. If someone wants to do it, sure, why not, but for me personally that's just a big no. I level all my characters through questing and exploring, because for one I enjoy the stories, and it also feels much more natural to get to know them like this.

I’ve definitely bought the Cyrodiil skyshards on my 4 most recent toons. It’s just a hassle getting some of them, IE: behind the gate shards.

If you want to make a character to level up gradually and do things as you come across them why would you want to pay to skip a bunch of the stuff you could be finding? Doesn't that defeat the point of the whole thing?

If you want to pay to skip playing and rush to end-game then sure, go for it, it's a choice ZOS are happy to sell you. But it seems very strange to do that when you're specifically trying to avoid rushing the game.

I've done it across 5 characters(my playtime can be spotty) but never STARTED off not having to grab shards and lore books, steal x amount and sell etc. Thought it'd be nice to just float through the story, in order, without the "remember to sell to the fence" and before leaving this zone which lore books did I miss". Each character has been specialized though(pvp, healer, etc). Just wanted some opinions on what you'd create to see it all if you had limited time and/or knew you'd be soloing a good bit. Personally thinking argonian magblade since I love Argonians, mageblade CANT be nerfed more(could they? ) so might be safe for awhile.

Since that's how I play normally (minus the paying to remove a bunch of things I could find) I guess my answers are khajiit templar, breton warden and argonian nightblade, all hybrids.

Not really. I enjoy the quests, I enjoy raising skills. I enjoy finding resources. I don't enjoy learning and raising skills then having to check off a list I've done 5 times through the last couple of years to use them. I've taken each character to different places and done different things, just never one toon to do it all.

Great question! Even if many seemed to miss the actual question.

I’ve been debating this myself! I have some quests to get caught up on as I’m way behind. The easy answer is the class you most like/ understand and enjoy. For me that’s my solo Stam sorc. I like the gameplay. Using sets and skills I run VMA with. Only thing I had considered is how doing the thieves guild and dark brotherhood classes wouldn’t fit.... the mages guild sure would, Stam sorcs can arguably be using forms of magic (even if it costs Stam) it fits the aesthetic.

I am tempted to argue magblade as the best option here. Magic. Magic melee if you want. Cloak. Fits well with the vampire aesthetic and feel when looking towards the next chapter. Only downside is currently the magblade is no longer enjoyable to me.

Essentially pick who you like- for questing and “story” etc it doesn’t matter about viability or sustain even.

Thank you. Seemed everyone forgot you've had to DO it before you could buy it. Simply wanted opinions since IF I do it I'm doing it once(i really don't like the constant nerfs so Zo$ sees less and less of my $$ as the years go by. Especially this last year) and while I'm fairly certain an argonian mageblade is where I'm going(i actually have one still in his 2nd zone I never finished) I wanted to pick others brains on who they'd concentrate on if they dropped the cash and just stuck to one toon.

Yeah I have basically one char max level of each class mag and Stam. I like to have options and have done different things with each at different times. Questing I’ve done mixed- but I haven’t done the quests from the last few dlcs. I have a Stam Templar that is my grand master crafter and he’s done through all the base zones. Magblade would work well for everything for sure.

I wouldn't actually for two reasons.

1 - I already rolled a Templar. Good at all, master of none. ESO isn't the sort of game where to experience all the content you HAVE to have a SPECIFIC race/class to achieve it outside of min/max. No matter what role I want to play, a Templar can do it all without the need to reroll.

2 - I'm OCD. Having multiple characters messes with my mind :)

I always play games like this with one toon to rule them all. Hence why when I sit down to roll my first one, I always opt for a class that can do all the roles in the game I'm going to play. I'm perfectly fine with paying for a respec and grinding new gear, but the prospect of having to complete content I've already done all over again just to make some sort of new progression is something that has no appeal to me what so ever.
