Quest path indicators (compass/map) not showing the correct way to the objective

Quest indicator paths seem to have gotten worse lately in regards to quest targets that are through a 'door' of some sort.
If a quest is in a different zone it often tries to lead me to the Murkmire Boatswain rather than the correct path (this is happening to people who dont even own Murkmire so that is a problem).
Another example is a quest in Greenshade trying to send me into the Outlaws den rather than through the nearby Marbruk north gate (which is the correct path).
Quest markers have always been a little glitchy in ESO but it seems like they are worse lately.
