can we finally stop this nonsense talking, about animation canceling

again recently, another topic opened talking about this. Seriously, stop even considering thinking about it.

animation canceling does not matter it is simply visual. You have in this game global cooldowns, one for spells and one for light attacks, these global cooldowns work simultaneously. So during a second if you use both global cooldowns, it's a matter of skill. Sure there are four total, adding synergies and bashing, but this topic is not about that.

animation canceling is purely visual in this game, you can't bypass the global cooldown, you can't cast 8 spells in 10 seconds because you cancel their animations. Either u do it or not, u will fire one thing per second, light attack and/or spell. Whoever of u think otherwise, just think about it and test it urself ingame.

    Yeah it’s actually pretty easy to press two keys in a second and a macro will not bypass the global cool down of abilities. Better yet a macro will not even work in a laggy environment like ESO. My weaving changes drastically based on lag and a macro is not able to adjust its timing on the fly.

    Wait, your argument is that it doesn't matter because it's simply visual?

    That's... the visual mismatch is the entire reason why animation cancelling is a problem in this game. What is happening on the screen doesn't match with what is happening behind the scenes with the numbers and game effects. Having this sort of visual mismatch built into the game is neither desirable or ideal.

    The way animation canceling works in this game does need improving and based on the current PTS notes, the developers are actively addressing this. They're changing how block canceling works to have the animation transitions be smoother, which will help reduce the mismatch between in-game visual cues and what is happening mechanically. That's a good thing. The less awkward the implementation of animation canceling is, the better.

    AC threads start to show up about once a year and have for the past four or so years. I think it coincides with an influx of new players looking to blame their poor dps on something or who don’t understand that lag makes abilities pile up in PvP.

    numbers work correctly and at the corrct time. Animation canceling does nothing to this, it's just visual.

    try for example Blessing of Protection spell. Cast it normally and look when you receive the buffs and the healing. Cast it again but cancel its animation; you will get the buffs and the healing at the same time as not canceled, not earlier.
