Does anyone else miss the way classes used to play?

I'm miss the aoe's not costing a fortune and dps was what you chased after not recover or sustain. Idk, just haven't enjoyed the direction the game has taken recently. I'm sure all the ppl that feel like I do aren't even on forums anymore. Just curious.

I disagree. I think the classes are better now than at launch. I don't love every single change but generally speaking it is much improved.

I just don't love that my sorc has to use the scamp pet. Because the clanfear's active ability is redundant if you take the heal flappy, which as a healer I absolutely must.

The thing I really don't get is their obsession with nerfing sustain over and over again. The entire point of having to manage resources is to force players to balance their stats between damage and recovery, based on their playstyle, to fuel their strong skills.

Instead of super strong skills having long cooldowns, super strong skills have high costs, forcing you to take some damage out of and put some recovery into your build to use these super strong skills often, meaning these super strong skills become just strong.

Trade damage for recovery, until you can comfortably sustain. Find a balancing point that is optimal for both damage and recovery. This is what players do every patch, and this is what Zenimax keeps forgetting. They nerf sustain, players find that balancing point again, then they do "why are players using skills so often?!" and nerf sustain again, only for players to find that balancing point again, and the process repeats.

Zenimax, stop nerfing sustain. The entire reason why you designed this game the way you did was to force players to balance their stats between damage and recovery. Stop acting surprised when players do that, and are then able to use skills so often, without heavy attacking. It's getting really frustrating.

They need to bring it back to how it was a while back, stam was slightly weaker, but cost less, and magicka was slightly more powerful and cost more, as it stands now stamina is more powerful and costs less, and magicka is weaker and costs more.

I miss how Surge used to only buff weapon damage.
I miss how Destruction Staff spells used to scale off weapon damage, since destruction staves are weapons.
I miss how your class skills still based off of spell damage, creating a weird conundrum for mages.

Just kidding! Things are much better now.

I will say that I miss hybrid characters actually being good, though. I wasn't a big fan of the soft cap system, but you didn't have to bend over backwards to make a viable spellsword character.

No. It was removed long, long after that when they redid the Overload ultimate.

Do I miss Templar major mending? Yes.
Do I miss Templar stun with shards? Yes.
Do I miss Earthgore in PvE before it got nerfed? Yes.
Do I miss Barrier helping nearby allies instead of only those I am grouped with? Yes.
Do I miss the wonderful flexibility of Healing Springs before it got nerfed? Yes.

Do I miss Templar having to stand within Channeled Focus? No.

On balance, I have learned that every single patch renders my game less fun.

I do agree that the back side of how the system recognizes damage, secondary effects what not are better than before but I was mainly talking about the skills themselves and how the races used to be.
I guess you have to be super specific , sorry. I'll try to remedy this in the future.

Btw I hate having my passives on favorite toons nerfed but they seem to be a little more balanced and leave less room for exploits in my opinion. If I was on PC with combat metrics I could probably say for certain but I'm a console player so. .....

So many fun builds and playstyles lost over the years... frag stun, wings that worked, blazing shields, sap tanks, heavy attack DKs, when templars were the best healers, Fighter's Guild being useful for magicka toons, ice damage builds, attrition builds, and more.

DK doesnt need wings to be strong (and before you start saying im a main *insert what ever class except dk and sorcerer*, i am a main dk in pvp) because you have so much self heal (and if you are stam, infinite dodge life)

Cristal frags with stun was too strong, and sorcerer doesnt need it, the burst is still the same : dot + curse + execute + cristal frag => holy f*** you are dead if you are not a tank
