Slaughterfish in Cyrodiil.... Give me a break. This is /facepalm worthy.

Yeah this is just a rage post, nothing will come of it idc I need to vent.

I was just casually exploring around Cyrodiil doing basically nothing, just killing time exploring.

So my character sees some Nirnroot by the lake. I go and grab it, and IRL I reach over and grab my hot tea.

As my character picks the Nirnroot, he starts losing HP fast and before I can even finish my sip of tea and say "WTF?" I am dead, because my effing LEFT FOOT was in the water and I got ate by slaughterfish.

I mean I know we aren't allowed to go into the lake, but really? This is just absolute mind-boggling levels of stupid.

Please change this so that it isn't utterly moronic bullcrap.

I wasn't in the water. I was picking a Nirnroot plant, and my left pinky toe was touching a pebble that had gathering dew from the mists that came from the water, then my head just exploded from 50,000 damage.

    It's dumb. Very dumb.

I know it's just a video game with pixels and dragons and fireballs shooting out of elven wizards' bumholes, but for god's sake can we not at least have some sort of minimal consistency with physics and reality.

People don't spontaneously die because their left foot touched water.

"War is Hell"... said the slaughterfish, wearing the helmet that says "Born to Kill".
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too

As far as I know, Cyrodiil is the only zone wherein the slaughterfish are amped-up to >9,000.
And the water isn't all over the place there; very easy to avoid.

So stay away from it if it bothers you so much. Simple enough.
This particular thing just isn't worthy of a burst brain aneurysm when it isn't difficult to avoid.

It actually comes in handy when you're "just casually exploring around Cyrodiil doing basically nothing."
I was book-hunting this one time, and I didn't want to have to keep running all the way back through enemy-occupied territory to get back to the wayshrine to get out, so I stopped at the lake and dipped my toe in.

The border for slaughterfish damage is set a bit aggressive and the damage in cyrodil is too high.
Many times you don't even have to get your feet wet to get hit.
Noticed this while fishing there in fool water at the water around IC.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Never! The slaughterfish is one of the most reliable ways to enable Suicidal Teleportation, the best travel skill in Cyrodiil.

My main also gets eaten by Cyrodiil slaughterfish once in a while, especially when hunting for plants.

But generally speaking, those fish are fine for virtual suicide!
My main is neither skilled nor geared for anything PvP related, so sometimes when he happens to run into a bunch of enemy players on his way back from a scouting mission, he tries to make his way to the water (if possible) so those fishies can have the AP.

The slaughterfish ratio in the lakes/rivers of Cyrodiil is admittedly awful. There are so many resources that are juuuuust touching the water and if you try to grab them from any angle you get eated by slaughterfish before you can harvest it, which begs the question: what's the point in having the resource node there to begin with? To taunt us?

Obviously ZOS does not want us going far into the water, I understand and agree with that, but I think pushing the slaughterfish threshold a few metres back would not do any harm to the mechanics of Cyrodiil. Nothing would change; no one would be able to cross bodies of water, just like on live, but people would be able to harvest their precious resource nodes and not die in ankle-deep water.

Wait until you find the places where you're not even in the water, and visibly higher up than the water's surface and still getting attacked by slaughterfish.

I kind of understand why they did it, because if they worked like regular slaughterfish it would be very easy to make your way across the river in some places by jumping and healing to counter them, and that would ruin the oppertunity for tactical movements with one side controlling or destroying bridges to restrict enemy movements. But it is annoying when you're just trying to go past or near the water and still get attacked.

You do get used to it though and learn to be very, very careful of any water in Cyrodiil.

I believe that outside Cyrodiil, slaughterfish exist in "deep water". In Cyrodiil, they exist in "water". I think this is partly for bodies of water to act as hard boundaries in Cyrodiil and force players into choke points. And partly to prevent players from jumping into water and just chilling out to avoid combat. But I think they should change it to where you need to be in enough water to disable your skill bar before slaughterfish kick in. That would seem to be a reasonable compromise between the "swim out a mile" that kills you in PvE and the "a single drop of water vapor touched you" that exists in PvP.

Or at least disable resource nodes from spawning in water in Cyrodiil!

Next time a cute white bunny will run out of a cave and rip your head off. Watch out for those bunnies, they are just as bad as fish.

I honestly hope to see evil impossible to kill white bunnies in a game.

I don't remember what game I was playing but it did have the Holy Hand Grenade in it and I used it on a white bunny. LMAO... I think it may have been GreedFall.

This explains well why they are there to begin with. Not really different than mountains forcing a player to use the milegates

They clearly need to make it so you're at least waist deep in water before they attack you. 😌
