How to get DLC for free* in ESO

In this video I talk about the only way players can get a free* DLC in Elder Scrolls Online. But it requires using gold to trade with other players for gifts from the crown store containing DLCs. Each DLC costs a certain amount of crowns, less when on sale, and each crown is tradable for a certain amount gold, depending on your server and region.

    That's not free, that's getting someone else to buy it for you for gold. This has been a thing for a long time now.

    As has been noted, crowns cost someone something..... someone bought those crown packs or they got them from an eso + subscription BUT they cost someone real world money. there are no free lunches...
    I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

    I think the term free is appropriate here. Players can obtain DLC without paying any actual real money, thus: free, as in "does not cost real money".

    sometimes, too, you can trade gold for .. well... nothing, if the other thread about scammers is anything to go by...

    Actually, with one proviso.

    ZO explicitly prohibit scamming - which is always a possibility with this scheme - and encourage victims to report it to CS.

    But they also say that they won't refund victims.

    So it's free minus.

    To clarify, it doesn't cost real money ... To The Buyer.

    But, in light of recent complaints from people scammed out of large amounts of gold due to promises of gifting crown items, this is trying to encourage players to open themselves up to just that type of scam.

    But is time really free? because getting half a million gold to pay for a DLC is quite time consuming.
