How does Critical Resist work, exactly?

I've never bothered investing in it, nor have I learned much of anything about the stat. Always saw it as taking too much away from my PvE build which I main, but since I'm spending so much time in Cyrodiil between content releases, getting my butt handed to me, I finally caved. Frankly, I think I've spent so much time in Laat getting bursted down that I think enemy players are recognizing my Gamertag now and I'm being targeted whenever I'm seen, cause they know I'm easy...

So now on my StamBlade I managed 1070 resist, and on my MagSorc I got 2100. Thing is, on my Sorc when I went from a whopping zero resist to 2100, I saw absolutely no difference in my survivability. I still got burst down easily, and because I had to sacrifice CP from Healing received to up Crit Resist, my self heals are worse now. So what do I have to do? What's the standard amount? Is there a cap?

Your nerf suggestion is dumb. Learn to counter other players instead of having the game rebuilt to your ability level.

So, from what I got is that with my Sorc having 2100 crit resist, whenever someone hits me with a Crit, it's only doing 20% more damage instead of 50%? Or, specifically 19.12% more.

I'm gonna also need to get my Resistances up to at least 30k too aren't I? Cause the best I can do with the Major buffs is low to mid 20s, and I'm still squishy. My best bet would be to use Heavy armor, but my characters use dropped sets that only come in Light and Medium.

That link rocks, @paulsimonps nails it.

Remember tho ArchMikem folks can have more that 50% crit damage - points in Elfborn, Shadow mundus, night blades, etc.

    3400 covers base only.

Resistances you can builds with skills and MH too. Sorcs tend to run Chudan or Boundless storm, you kinda need one or the other. The later pairs well with Bloodspawn - some like pirate skel.

My Sorc does run Boundless, and with that active I get 22k Spell and 20k Phys resist, and that's also on top of having a Heavy chest piece and I think either the head or shoulders is heavy but I forget. My problem with my Sorc though is I kinda refuse to slot Ward. I don't really have room for it on my bars and I already have a sustain problem as it is without spamming that in a panic. Maybe I should craft new heavy pieces to replace the light of my Julianos set.

You're definitely going to get roasted in PvP without any Critical Resistance (unless you're a master cloaking Nightblade or have some other mobility-based way to completely avoid taking damage).

But it still won't help that much unless, as you note, you also have higher resists (compared to PvE) and a decent (20k at least) health pool.

Generally speaking, you'll also want an entirely different armor setup, as a PvE-style damage build will only really work if you're already a veteran PvP'er.

Try getting a set of Buffer of the Swift and then pair it either with a sustain set of your choice or another defensive set if you still find yourself dying. Make sure that regardless of which sets you take, that all your pieces are in Impenetrable.

A lot of times though, especially in Cyrodiil, the best "armor" is simply having spent some time there, so you know what situations are highly dangerous (riding solo through enemy territory, hanging around in front of a keep door, etc.) versus when it's more opportune to attack.

Highest I’ve been able to get my crit mod in a workable pvp build was around 113% without major force. That would mean my spammable instead of doing 5k damage would so just shy of 11k against someone with no crit resists.

You’ll definitely want crit resists. It helps a lot against getting big damage spikes.

Playing tanky is a good way to learn. The tankiness gives you more time to react and get the hang of pvp’s flow.

Problem with high tankiness is your damage and healing sucks. The best amount of tankiness is just enough so you don’t die to a stun/burst combo and put the rest into stats so you’ll heal or deal more damage.

That’s how I do it at least.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

Often, a good way to get more resistance (apart from armor), is to wear a monster set that gives more resistance (bloodspawn for example). Allways keep your armor buff up. If you use a craftable set for body armor, then you can wear a heavy chest piece and medium pants for optimum setup. Usually every piece of armor needs to have the trait with crit resistance.

In PvP bar setup changes as well: Your front bar is for damage, your back bar is for defense (healing, shield, mobility).
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.
