Will the Housing Population Cap be Raised in Greymoor?

Yeah, this is another "Raise the Population Cap" thread. Sorry.

A question came to mind as I was going through the PTS, and while I won't pinpoint exactly where my concerns are (due to it being the PTS), there are some awfully big housing projects in the PTS this year, ones that cannot reasonably accommodate such a small number of players. Despite that, here we are in 2020 with the still miniscule player limit. I run a decently large roleplay guild, and we operate in the Overworld because we're town based and housing can't seat us all. We're not in a place to stoop low enough to "reserve RP spots" for housing, and the 24 player limit is just too small for us to comfortably operate in housing. 40 is a more comfortable number for us, as we tend to have quite a few players roleplaying at any given time, upwards to 25-30 during our all-time peaks in the middle of the year.

I heard through the rumor mill that there was talk of raising the player cap for these houses during Greymoor's release, but just rumors. Is there any truth to that? Thanks.

    Heard it through the grapevine.

Naa, Many rumor trolls around that prey on the gullible. They are not anything special so do not expect them to have knowledge beyond what Zos has publicly stated. I fully expect the forums would be alight with threads thanking Zos if they had in fact announced this.

So do not fall for those rumor trolls. They are just fools.

That's a shame. I suppose Zenimax lost another sale from me with the refusal to up the player cap. Oh, well. Thanks for the answer, though!

It would be logical to make some additional space for the coming antiquities housing items. But I guess we'll have to wait until greymoor to see.

Insight into why they would not. Things like an increase in bank or inventory space, and more people or items in housing, will probably put a strain on the system. They probably want to do the FPS and performance improvements and get all of that solid before they consider these sorts of things.

People seem to believe that ZOS is doing this to be pricks or something, but it is a stability and system thing. Item count is a thing. There is a reason certain mmos do not have housing at all and others have limits on housing. From what was said during the post show and other interviews and via reading between the lines I think it will probably be looked at again after the install crunch update happens and new options open up.

I don’t care about the player population cap as much as I care about the cap on pets and mounts. I want to display all the guar in Moonsugar Meadow. ALL the guar. A great herd of guar. A Guar-field.

I don't ask, or assume, on the basis that they're doing this for "hateful" reasons. That makes no sense, from a marketing standpoint. The issue I have is that they've left us in the dark for close to three years regarding population increases.

That's correct; that was what they explained when they released housing in 2017. I'm not exactly asking for 100 player housing caps like in SWTOR, just a bit of a buff. I think the sweet spot is around 40-50 for max-size houses.

Personally, I hope that all of this performance optimization will allow them to bump up the player cap in houses a little, but we will see.
