Ok let’s have a discussion about the proposed changes to how we can queue for BG’s

I only foresee problems with implementing only solo queuing.

1 - I personally only play battlegrounds with people I know, as I main a healer and well no matter how many times you say “ Come with me if you want to live” EVERYONE just runs around like headless chicken.

2 - I’m a healer I can’t heal no one, or kill anyone so what’s my use?

3 - I can also foresee this causing more drama or toxic behaviour. For example me saying let’s group up, someone being a ass and causing an argument ect ect ect I don’t need to explain this people be toxic and silly.

4 - Because it faction lock in Kaalgrontiid and the no cp campaign being dead, this is the only place I can play my “other” characters, which I’m also not strong on and are also all healers so do they become unplayable?

Possible solutions?

One queue for groups and another for solo players?

People that battlegrounds more often being more friendly with their teammates and maybe make a friend so they don’t feel “forced” to queue solo?

There is a lot of other options here than what has been suggested.

As someone who hasn’t played pvp since faction lock came out because of how much it annoyed me is this going to take away my option to pvp with my friends at all? Ever?

Let’s discuss guys want to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Hope everyone’s having a good day <3

Point 4. You know there is a cp campaign that isn't faction locked right?

Also, yes 2 q's would be the best of both worlds but they will cut the pop down and it would probably result in no bg's, only option is to see how it goes with solo q as it definitely needed changing.

I stopped doing bg's a while ago as I got bored with trying to 1v4 a fully built team all on comms and playing as a fluid unit, so Im all for trying this change out.

I expect many more salty tears as groupies cry because their pre-made groups can no longer beat up on solo players/noobs without a good group composition. I would like to take this opportunity to remind those folk that the rampant abuse of this behaviour is why this has happened.

Beg nicely for a separate queue, and you might get lucky.

    1. In higher MMR matches, many players actually play coordinated (grouped or not).
    2. Healers are just as valuable with premades as they are with coordinated solo players.
    3. Toxic players will be toxic players no matter the context.
    4. Your other characters won't be unplayable.

BGs will endure. Faster queues, less stalemate-type matches, a consistent source of AP, and more balance overall.

In high MMR on Xbox NA, the vast majority of pugs still know to stay near the healer if they have one.

This doesn't just prohibit perfectly balanced 4 person premades, it also means more casual players, such as many duos, can't queue together.

The problem with BGs has always been more about what people run in BGs as a premade than the fact they are coordinated.

I'm celebrating this news. FFS BG is only a nightmare as it is now. Premades abusing this MMR, how fun! I only do BGs for the stones, AP and XP for leveling skills NOT because I find them any fun.

Just a small note and distinction from what I keep hearing.

"This is a MMO, not a single player game"

You are still in a match with/against 11 other people. It's not a solo match, it's a solo queue. It's not you vs. a bunch of NPC's...though some of you will predictably argue that with a snide remark or two. Play with your friends in the other 95% of the game.

You're still facing off/teaming with the same amount of people. A solo queue doesn't make it less of an MMO, it's just taking away the imbalance of coordinated groups against randoms. Funny how everyone claims to want good fights but are all up in arms because your mini ball group won't be able to steamroll over the other two groups so easily. You don't want good fights, you want easy wins.

This change will make high MMR matches far more interesting. Who wants interesting, actual competition though, right?

well, for some players it will be 1 vs 11....

because that player will tick off their own teammates

Well, actually I'm really grateful about the news, my friends only do pve, BGs are hell of a nightmare with with premade mini wrecking ball groups, while solo players struggle to keep themselves alive -or- premade groups just taking the flags, chaosball, not even bothering you, but if you dare approach them, they will wreck you, you just know you have no chance. It's not fun.
Another solutions: if people with their premade groups keep complaining, ZOS could implement another BG section for only and ONLY premade groups. Now there's your challenge.

They already noted it's an experiment. Just let them try it and see how it goes for a few months.
Might be enlightening just like how not being able to group yesterday was interesting in Cyrodiil.

I'm curious. What stops 4 healers ending up in a team? Does BGS take account of your role? I stopped playing them a while ago because a) angry whispers because you didn't get kills b) hard to heal everyone if they won't at least try run in the same direction (I end up just going with the strongest player that looks like they have a clue).

Personally, I welcome the change to BG's. Almost always solo queue. Sure good players stay together generally but when you have one player being a dedicated healer, one warden, one sorc and one templar DD or DK, you can’t help but feel it is a premade group.

Not sure what makes it less of an MMO.

    Solo queuing =/= solo playing.

While many ZoS fixes may be ‘band-aids’, people have been asking for this for a long time. You can still build community and become part of a network by solo queing. It is how my own group all met eachother.

An instanced 4 man team lobby sidegame outside of the persistent world is not very MMO to begin with, it is simply a multiplayer (as opposed to 'massively multiplayer'), for which there are multitude of games that provide that. If this was a real MMO you wouldn't even have BG.

The themepark MMO that started the rot by moving away from the things that made a real MMO (persistent world / massively mulitplayer) in order to attract casual non-MMO players into the genre who wanted a shiny themepark with lobby games, minimal interaction, private instances, LFG systems, complete separation of PvP, etc and what has largely changed what is left of the MMO genre into something one rung up the ladder from a mobile game.

And of course which basically became the blueprint for themepark MMOs like ESO, Rift, etc.

I love how people say "premades" were destroying BG's...We like to play with our friends because this is an MMO right? You can do that too ya know... Lets hope ZOS can make this right so both sides of this change can be satisfied.

If they keep it as it stands no problem I'll still play BG's and still enjoy it because I love small scale PvP.
