ESO has never been focused on PvP. Thats not what the game is about. If anything its an extra. A big giant addon to the rest of the game.

Sorry if thats not what you want to hear. But thats the reality. Your acting as if this is a PvP focused game. its not. Just because that might be some people's main interest in the game, doesn't change that this is a PvE mmo with pvp thrown in because mmo's have to have it pretty much.

Use to be PVP focus until they flipped the switch.

    Incorrect.

It has always been focused on PvE. Look at the difference in PvE content versus PvP since day one.

For some reason, some PvP players listened to a video where PvP was listed as one of 3 end game activities and they concluded that PvP is the endgame. People hear what they want to hear.

PvP was the only end game for a long time. For about ~2years actually. Most players came in around 2016/17, that wasn't the start of the game.

It would have been really nice to see new PvP content.

Imagine if in Morrowind they'd started "rebuilding" some of the ruined settlements in the game and gradually increased their size and state of repair with every major update cycle, like the province was recovering slowly? And then you had some specific buff tied to ownership, kind of like owning an Elder Scroll? That would feel really good and give some sort small sense of progression to the fighting there.

Or if they made the 7-day campaigns into different maps entirely (plenty of unexplored area surrounding Cyrodiil) and had different castle configurations and mission objectives for playing there? Maybe winning there would give a buff to your 30-day campaign to encourage people actually playing there?

    Ah, we can dream.

It wasn't PvE focused from day 1 though. Yes it had lots of overland and story content but when you look at the actual content for high level characters there was little other than PvP. Dungeons weren't scaled back then so you only had a few High Level veteran dungeons, Craglorn didn't exist so there was 0 trials and group activities.

PvP was a very large part of endgame on release.

Yeah, PvE is getting a new Trial, 4 new dungeons and 40+ hours of new overland content again this year, just like it has gotten every year for the past 4 years. (I mean Morrowind, Summerset, Eleswyr and now Dark Heart. It's all the same content just reskinned with new locations and characters.)

    But WOW! ONE SIEGE WEAPON!

Thanks Zenimax, this is what the PvP community has been asking for!!

The amount of content needed to keep PvPer happy is much smaller then PvEers. The amount of PvE content does not make ESO mostly a PvE MMO. The number of gamers that play PVP say this is a PvP game. Every night people are lined up waiting to get a turn to play in Cyrodiil. PvPers are a backbone of this game. When PvEers finish they new content, who still keeps logging in, PvPers. Don't get me wrong I also love PvE. Some of my best friends are PvEers. What is sad is when PvEers don't care that PvPers didn't get what they were looking for out of an expansion. A player base that's supports the game as much as you. Sad IMO.

PVP is going through changes, the Three Banner War is coming to a close and Cirodill and Battlegrounds will probably go he way of the Dodo especially with Camelot unchained coming down the pike. I have a feeling we are going to Zenimax return to their roots and beef up the arena system for PVP while wrapping up the failed modes.

PvP was a very large part of endgame on release.

Craglorn came out after 3 month. They had an absurd amount of PvE content at launch. I played non-stop for those first four months and only finished Cadwell's Gold after Craglorn dropped. I wasn't interested in continuing to pay to repeat content, so I left the game until Tamriel Unlimited. But endgame wasn't a problem at launch because of all the content.

You will probably reply by saying something about MMORPGs being all about endgame. I can't disagree since I don't play MMORPGs. I just play ESO. I never cared about endgame. It sounded like a marketing term for doing the same thing over and over again. But at launch, ZOS pointed to more PvE activities than PvP when describing endgame. They did not agree that PvP was the main endgame.

We can agree that they took a while to get the first trial out when they probably should have had one at launch, but it makes sense to get the game out sooner rather than wait for that.

PVP was not neglected. It was tortured along with PVE with ridiculous updates that were back-pedalled on anyway.... It will always be filled with meta trash, zergling, one skill players and nightcappers that lag you out with their spamming and blocking... but at least ESO could give us either a proper fix for the lag or a decent Blue Screen Achievement rather than a siege weapon that will probably contribute to the afore mentoined...

I think most PvPers would be happy with performance improvements at this point. The community is so small some new content would reignite interest in PvP for old and new players. Sadly marketing seems to spend more money on sending to people to Vegas and advertising the DLC on social media.

I have a character stuck in a delve right now in Cyrodiil because the campaign is pop locked and it won't let me exit because the instance is full. That's a whole new kind of stupid. PvP is a damn joke. The latest patch did absolutely nothing to fix blue screens on PS4. I guess I log out of this character since I can't leave this delve until population allows... about 6-12 hours. I'll just jump on another character and wait in queue for another hour just to get into my home campaign; how fun...

Can't wait for the new siege weapon though. I hope it knocks friendlies out of load screens in the middle of keep battles. It will create a whole new type of strategy.

    1. The population is almost certainly < 500 in prime time, so you're almost irrelevant. Off peak you can often find more people chasing the alik'r dolmens than in your faction.

    2. Every time zos have an event to try and entice people into PvP, there's a subset of idiots who go out of their way to make that experience absolutely miserable for anyone dipping their toes in.

PvP dumb db tryhards can't see that setting siege I side the quest delivery, allowed as it is, is exactly the kind of behavior that makes everyone else hate PvP, and therefore kills PvP in itself. This butt-people are so actually dumb, they don't see that they are the ones killing PvP in the first place.

But hey... They killed you 15times in a row for literally zero AP, no bragging rights, no effort, no challenge and no recognition in general, but you gotta "l2p" because it's "fair game".

I can tell you right now if they did that my entire pvp guild, 400 players, my entire party guild 200 people, and over half of my trading guilds would all leave. Removing options from a game because of a low population, WHICH THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE for, would be lunacy.
