When you apply to a guild you like in guild finder why does it take so long for them to recruit you?

Invitation pending . That is what it says when you apply to a guild you like and it takes forever to get accepted. I thought i was being ignored so i just cancelled my application.

The thing is, there are a lot of little guilds that look very appealing to me simply because they are not huge and some do the activities i enjoy but they never ever recruit in zone chat 😭😭😭😭. So then i have to try find them on guild finder but it's a pain 😭😭😭. I am amazed at how many medium to small guilds there are that never grow their members.

it might take a while for people with access to applications to log on or see that there is a new application. In my experience, it can take a few days even in larger guild where leaders are on all the time.

They wouldn’t be a “medium to small guild” if they just invited anyone in

Are you sure they aren't defunct? Guilds come and go, as the players who created them drop out of the game for one reason or another.

A good guild is hard to find. I am still waiting to find a lazy casual friendly, guild selling, late night , at least medium sized guild with Taco Tuesdays, happy hour every night between midnight and 2am EST and rampant Vampire and Khajiit ERP

I wouldn't take it personally. Running a guild is a lot of work (even smaller ones can keep one quite busy) and they may not have gotten to reviewing their applications yet, or those with permission may not have been able to log in, or sometimes the applications/notifications don't even show up for a few days. You'll just have to be patient, or try applying for multiple at a time?

I agree the Guild Finder tool makes it difficult to find Guilds. It reminds me of coding from the early 1990’s. The filters don’t work well and are missing key sort options. Some of my same complaints about the ESO Trading system.

As for application delays, there may be impacts from how the tool functions (or doesn’t) but I suspect it comes down to how much of a priority the Guild Leader(s) put into (are able to put into) processing requests. I’ve had a couple (400+ member) guilds that accepted my application in less than 24 hours. The first Guild I applied to almost a year ago has yet to respond to either my request to their Forum recruitment thread, or my application (which I assume has been deleted or still sitting in a pending invite state).

Some Guilds may not wish to grow in size. There is a lot of effort required to manage large Guilds, especially if they are primarily Trading Guilds. I do not envy their task at all. In fact, I applaud their efforts to keep a Guild functioning.

My advice: If a Guild is inordinately slow to respond/take action then move on. This may well be a harbinger of how the Guild operates. Thankfully, I’ve been lucky and have had good experiences with the Guilds I’ve joined. It’s been clear to me that the Leadership Teams care about their members and are keen on maintaining a pleasant and active experience for their members.

I've heard that they send questions about you to your parents and boss so it might take a while to get the replies back.

Depends on what you consider a long time, if your expecting to get accepted in a few hrs, your not taking into account the different time zones of players.

At least allow a few days - a week(I say week because one of the guilds I am in they wait till every Sunday before they go through the applications) to go by, to give the officers a chance to see your application and accept you into the guild, it varies from guild to guild what criteria they require people to fulfill for an invite to be accepted.

The most basic requirement a lot of the trade guilds I am in require of people using the guild finder tool for an invite, is that they actually write something on the invite request not just leave it blank.

Should let at least give a guild leader 24h to respond to an application in weekend and 4 days on week days. You don't know how often they play. Or even if they are in the same time zone. so by giving them this time, you know they'll at least see your application if they are at all actively playing.

Well, it requires a human within the guild to accept your application.

If they dont log on for a while, or are busy with other content, or they forget to check, or whatevs...

A well run guild should be checking every day and have officers available to do this. But everyone is human, so we have to understand that.

I have to second the point about applications not actually showing up in a timely manner. In my (usually) 500-person guild, we had several spaces open up the other week. I filled those from new applications within 24 hours. Two and even three days later I was still receiving “new” applications that hadn’t been on the list before - which should have been impossible, because you can’t apply to full guilds through the guild finder (or so it’s supposed to work). That suggests to me that the “new” applications had actually been made days before, and the system just took that long to process them and put them on the list.

In one of my other guilds too, where I have recruitment perms, I frequently find that if I accept a “new” application - even directly from notifications as soon as it pops up - the applicant has been offline for several hours already. I could see the occasional instance of someone having gone in offline mode, but this happens far too often for that to explain it. Some of the players in that guild have also confirmed the delay between their application and our acceptance of it, even when we accepted “immediately” (from our perspective).

So I would say assume that the application can take at least several hours, if not days, even to reach someone who can act on it, and not just because of their availability.
