Hi all reading,
I returned after having been out of the game since a year ago. Am now going to try on my new AMD Ryzen 3900X, 32GB DDR4-3200, AMD RX 5700 XT, but in order to do so, I first have to download it again. The weird thing is, I have to log in to find the game installer, it's not just available for download from the ESO website. But okay, jumped through its hoops. Now it's downloading an initial 65GB (at 30MB/sec). Seeing how I'm at half there and still at just 1%, this is going to be fun. Perhaps I should've waited until tomorrow morning before starting the download & install as this may be an all-niter if it's also going to download all the updates.
But glad to be back. Got myself a brand spanking new year subscription. Have a Logitech G502 wireless mouse with 11 addressable buttons, so PvP, here I come for more of you to slaughter me.
Once it's installed of course.

✭✭✭✭✭I guess now is not the time to tell you that they are revamping the game files so the install will be smaller and the patches take up significantly less space. Because come next major update, we all have to redownload the whole game again.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Ageless✭✭✭Well, I ran into the first snafu already: Error 102 - DownloadError_InvalidMetafile: Unable to find patch data for the current game version. It's like the old days when patches came in and people - me included - couldn't play for days due to errors like this. So perhaps I'll wait the few days until the 16th.Jord.

✭✭✭Connect your old hard drive to your PC and transfer the files over. I went through the same thing and it saves a ton of time.Looking for any guildies I used to play with:

I have a backup of my old files already ported over. Well at least, of the player files. I uninstalled the game on the other system as the HDD in there's going to another system of mine and needed to be cleaned out.Connect your old hard drive to your PC and transfer the files over. Are you going through steam or through the direct download?
And was your original install back from before on Steam or direct.
They do not play nice together

Important note: the download won't actually be on the 16th. That's when they're announcing the new chapter. New download will likely be with the next major update (26, iirc25) which if last year is any indication, will likely be end of February.Edited by January1171 on January 14, 2020 11:00PM3 -

✭30MB/sec... you're lucky lol. i recently reinstalled the game and pts at 4MB/s
while you're at it, do yourself a favour and install minion to manage addons. look for a forum thread with addon recommendations, they make eso a lot more enjoyable.

If you run it at low-average setting the game looks like a mess
Even with the newest graphics card I have to drastically cut the max particle fx and view distance or I’ll start dropping frames in busy areas. It never drops to 20 anymore since I got my new one, but it will randomly tank in the middle of nowhere then go back to normal. It’s a problem with how ESO processes its graphics.0
