HOW TO INCREASE MAGICA DAMAGE?

Just a basic list on how to increase damage for a magica character, please fact check, improve and add:

1 Max out your magica, spell damage, spell penetration & spell critical,
the higher the better, very good is 45K max mag, 5K Spell damage, 50% crit chance, 18.2k penetration via Food buff, Mundus & Potion

2 Passives
Race, Class Ability, Armor, Alliance Tree, Weapon. Mages- Fighters-Undaunted-Psijic and other Guilds all have something in them that can help boost your damage
Read them in detail and use them for effect

3 Gear quality
Gold is best, period, but epic (purple) works just fine as well.

4 Status effects
Gives 20% more damage IE flame damage to a target that is burning

Destruction staff passive gives a 100% more chance to apply effects

Status effect chance to apply from PTS Notes 2.1:
Standardized the chance an ability has to apply a secondary effect, such as burning, chilled, or concussed. These chances are:
Weapon enchants 20%
Standard ability 10%
Area of effect abilities 5%
Damage over time abilities 3%
Area of effect damage over time abilities 1%
Light and Heavy Attacks 0%

5 Buffs via casted abilities, sets or other players
You're looking for:
Major & Minor Sorcery
Major & Minor Prophecy
Major & Minor Minor Berserk
Major & Minor Force

6 Debuffs via casted abilities
You're looking for:
Major & Minor Breach
Major & Minor vulnerability

7 Light Attack weaving
A spell takes one second to cast
A light attack takes half a second
With weaving you cast both ability & light attack in 1 second

8 Animation Cancelling
Certain attacks come with time wasting animations which can cancel out with a bash, light attack, bar swap or jump so you can cast your next attack faster.

9 Rotation
If you cast certain abilities either before or after an ability the damage is increased such as empower before a light attack

10 Stacking simultaneous damage by using AOE, DOT, Ability attacks that all occur at the same time

11 Timing
Certain attacks do more damage on high health or at low health, find out what your executes are

12 Jewelry
should be infused with spell damage glyphs

13 Gear enchantments
all divine with all max magica enchants

14 Weapons
should be infused with a increase weapon/spell damage glyph on front attack bar that procs of the light attack weave
Back bar could have a magica poison of some sort for an extra dot

15 Gear
Try out New Moon Acolyte, Ancient Dragonguard and Slimecraw. 6L 1H chest. Then start replacing with your preference and playstyle.

16 Five of the same armor type bonus,
I prefer 6 Light and 1 heavy chest but most play with 5L/1H/1M

17 Championship points
should be also causing a stack effect, preferably never more than 75 points into anything. Read the CP passives, look especially at the off balance and butcher combo

18 Slotted ability bonus
Each Mages guild ability increases your max magica so slot degeneration & Inner light on your front bar aka attack spam/rotation bar
Sorcerers for instance have a damage bonus for each slotted class ability

19 Intra-class buffs, debufffs & synergies
Group up with a Templar - his/her Dawns Wrath Abilities increase YOUR damage via minor sorcery
Group up with a Sorcerer - his/her Dark Magic ability increase your spell critical via Minor prophecy
Group up with a Warden - his/her Fletcherflies provide your target (if its the same one) with minor vulnerability
Group up with a Dragonknight - his/her Igneous weapons increase your damage by providing you with major sorcery
etc.

20 Stacking/Stat scaling into the same ability.
You basically want everything stacking in to the three or four main things and types of damage you use to do your way of attack . So whether its AOE or Single target make sure that if you use something you have as many buffs, debuffs and stat scaling working on your target at the same time.

21 Three types of armor undaunted bonus (5L, 1H chest, 1M hands)

22 Combat knowledge and understanding
This is one of the best playlists explaining it in a simple way

As for upgrading gear; weapon first as it provides the best increase in damage (magical or weapon) vs. upgrading the armor or jewelry pieces.

As for weaving and animation cancelling you can also add jump cancelling. Not only do some animation cancel each other but jumping usually can cancel quite a few animation and as you are jumping you can weave an attack and do another ability with further jump cancelling and further use of ability animation cancelling. It reminds me of playing DCUO Light based power back in 2013.

After eating food I get almost 40k magika and it goes very quick for me when I do my full rotation on my DPS build. I forgo using spell damage boost on my jewelry to get the added recovery. If I do it quick enough with weapon swap, animation cancelling abilities, jump cancelling, weaving etc... I go from full magika to an empty bar within 20 seconds or less. I have yet to test my damage out but I know I followed some 810 CP player out in some zones to see how fast they kill stuff and than I try it myself and they melt so much faster.

Getting a right rotation down is important but if you find yourself burning through magika you may need to swap your race or change up the enchantments on jewelry.
