PC - Gamepad Auto Change Input Mode works one way

The Gamepad setting - Auto Change Input Mode does not work correctly.
It does change from Gamepad UI to Keyboard UI correctly, but does not change back to Gamepad UI when you move or click on the controller.
So it is a one way automatic change
I have to press the keybinding for gamepad mode to use the controller after the automatic switch.
I would love for this auto change to work both ways, as I use a controller for movement/combat and keyboard/mouse for inventory sorting/management.
