How do I assign one costume to the first outfit slot and another costume to the second outfit slot?

I have just bought a 2nd outfit slot.

Thank you!

At the outfit station look at the top left and select "Outfit Slot 2" from the drop down menu. Now you are editing an outfit in the second slot.

Oh, I did that, but the outfits do not change once I swap between outfit1 and outfit2.

I was able to change the look of my weapons though.

Did you save the changes in the Slot?

Might be a bit of a misunderstanding here. Are you using a costume? As in from collectibles tab?

Yes, two costumes and I dyed them.

One dyed costume I want to assign to slot 1.

The other dyed costume I want to assign to slot 2.

I can change the changes for the axe though, but the client never changes automatically the costume.

Isn't an outfit slot made for that?

Just swap your costumes through collectibles or quickslots then. You can't assign a costume to an outfit, it's specifically for making your own outfit from motif styles.

Outfits and costumes are two separate things.

Costumes are one-piece sets which may or may not look like armour, and which can be dyed but can't otherwise be customised. You can switch between them at any time on the Collections menu and don't need anything else to use them.

Outfits are cosmetic armour sets. They use the same looks as real armour and pieces are unlocked by collecting motifs or outfit styles. The only difference is that they don't affect your stats, so for example you could have light armour for the stats and passives and a medium armour outfit for the look.

To have more than 1 outfit you need to buy more outfit slots, and then you can switch between them whenever you want. But they're nothing to do with costumes and you do it need outfit slots to change costumes, just go to the Collections menu.

Well, oh well, I bought a outfit station and a second outfit slot in vain then. Well,... maybe costumes will be part of the outfits one day. I am optimistic!

    You don't.

As of now, costumes cannot be assigned to outfit slots, only basic armor motiv visuals, and special outfit visuals if you have them (prisoner, companions, corsair, skall, etc.). Which is nifty in its own way as you can design your individual looks from all the various visuals... (once you track down those visuals of course, learn the motivs, get the event drops, buy them in guild stores, whatever)

Its not that big a thing, for costumes at least, since you can change costumes quickly from your collections anyhow...

    ...

...though it -would- be really, really nifty if we could use -hats- and -hairstyles- and -adornments- for the outfit system as well!!! Maybe even personalities and mounts!
I mean, how cool would it be if someones dunmer sorceress could wear her hair open with earrings and makeup in her "Enchantress" outfit, and the hair tied into a practical knot with a headband and warpaint in her "Battle Witch" outfit, and... and... and...

I thought I preferred costumes as well, back when I started, but that changed after I started playing around with the Outfit station and collecting motifs and outfit styles.

I still have a few costumes that I really like (out of lots of costumes that I've collected), but I've come to much prefer the outfits I put together myself with the station.

So don't feel that you've made a wasteful purchase until you've given outfits a chance. If you like collecting costumes, then I bet you'll enjoy creating your own "looks" with the various motifs and styles that are available and the outfit station.

I would have an outfit station in every house I have if I could.
As it is, I currently have three.
