Latency Issues?

All of the sudden my latency is garbage, and I have no idea why. It's brutal trying to do any competitive content with this.
Am I missing something?
My internet ping is 19ms, download is 265.3 Mbps, upload is at 52.43 Mbps, so, I think, it's not an issue on my end. (I've done numerous speed tests, all the same or similar results)

What is the deal, anyone know?

    Nah, don't feel bad. I've never had anything but satband (well.... before that, 2004 and earlier, I had dialup) and hughesnet is MAGNITUDES better than wildblue was, though still not optimal. But I get by. I don't do anything that requires grouping (for obvious reasons - I'm NOT going to slam a group with mega lag on my part), so this is a solo game for me.

    I live in a place with the cleanest air and water, and fewest neighbors, in the entire US (other than Alaska's North Slope). Since I'm truly a hermit, works for me!

    Pros and Cons I suppose, I have a 1000MB plan so it's wicked fast Internets. I, too, can be a hermit at times, secluding myself from civilization (except for my technology) and fully embracing the sweaty.

    Having problems myself, also PC/NA. I wondered if Glenumbra was being particularly full of players, but even solo instances in the Harborage questline proved laggy as well.

    When companies say "up to X" and you use a shared line that doesn't restrict speeds for others sharing it like cable and fiber, you're subject to the ISP's QoS rules.

    When you run that speed test, ISPs going to prioritize it so you like what you see, but in reality what they don't tell you is that when someone else in your neighborhood turns on their TV to watch football in 4K and it uses that same fiber optic cable, your traffic gets deprioritized everytime. What's worse is that other networks they contract for routing have their own QoS rules, and you may be deprioritized on their network from the start.

    Want to know what traffic gets deprioritized the most with QoS rules? HTTPS traffic, because ISPs assume you are consuming media that is not time-sensitive. ISPs aren't going to have people's TVs freeze and stutter because those are live, time-sensitve applications and a freeze or stutter there means a permanent loss of data and ultimately results in poor customer satisfaction. That means when everyone is home watching a bunch of TVs and streaming live radio podcasts gets priority over you, even if one person has 15 TVs and is hogging all of the bandwith allotted to your neighborhood (this is why ISPs started capping your bandwidth on cable and fiber, he or she would burn their data and get deprioritized or cut at the cap *).

    The problem is that nearly every online game uses HTTPS these days. It should also be noted that applications like speedtest.net are also not time-sensitive and the ping report from it is unreliable (your router can tell you the real ping from A to B if it supports that feature. Nearly every modern router allows you to do this, but some ISPs block it and leave for technicians only).

    Companies are also not doing it to "save a buck" but because there is limited time and space to build such infrastructure. The truth is that wired infrastructure is dated and cellular/wireless infrastructure has far surpassed it in terms of cost and efficiency.

    This point is true to the point that the T-Mobile/Sprint merger is gaining opposition from even AT&T and Comcast because cellular networks suffer from no such deprioritization (all data is treated equally, except that voice data and 911 calls are priortized on GSM networks*), and the T-Mobile/Sprint merger would expand T-Mobile's home internet (hotspot) offering to a point where no one else can compete if Sprint's towers and networks are reworked to be used exclusively for data-only 4 and 5g applications.

    If you have a phone and tethering is included, I always recommend using it with this game and seeing if you get better speed than your home connection. For me, the game has a max ping of 210 (Cyrodiil) on cellphone, minimum 110 compared to my wired connection minimum of 47 and maximum of 650 (Cyrodiil).

For me, the game has a max ping of 210 (Cyrodiil) on cellphone, minimum 110 compared to my wired connection minimum of 47 and maximum of 650 (Cyrodiil).

    Is there anyway to get around this? It’s kinda *** if this is the case considering I pay top dollar for the best internet around (1000MB)

    Aside from asking your ISP to give you a line with a stable rate cap and minimum speed and hoping they are nice enough to do it? No. It's why 5G scares the heck out of all these wired ISPs...

With internet you can go down left right and up, far more room for expansion, and with fiber optic this should be a non issue. It's just another case of companies trying to save a buck at the cost of the consumer.

    When companies say "up to X" and you use a shared line that doesn't restrict speeds for others sharing it like cable and fiber, you're subject to the ISP's QoS rules.

    When you run that speed test, ISPs going to prioritize it so you like what you see, but in reality what they don't tell you is that when someone else in your neighborhood turns on their TV to watch football in 4K and it uses that same fiber optic cable, your traffic gets deprioritized everytime. What's worse is that other networks they contract for routing have their own QoS rules, and you may be deprioritized on their network from the start.

    Want to know what traffic gets deprioritized the most with QoS rules? HTTPS traffic, because ISPs assume you are consuming media that is not time-sensitive. ISPs aren't going to have people's TVs freeze and stutter because those are live, time-sensitve applications and a freeze or stutter there means a permanent loss of data and ultimately results in poor customer satisfaction. That means when everyone is home watching a bunch of TVs and streaming live radio podcasts gets priority over you, even if one person has 15 TVs and is hogging all of the bandwith allotted to your neighborhood (this is why ISPs started capping your bandwidth on cable and fiber, he or she would burn their data and get deprioritized or cut at the cap *).

    The problem is that nearly every online game uses HTTPS these days. It should also be noted that applications like speedtest.net are also not time-sensitive and the ping report from it is unreliable (your router can tell you the real ping from A to B if it supports that feature. Nearly every modern router allows you to do this, but some ISPs block it and leave for technicians only).

    If you’re in the US, you’re a bit late.
    This is why there was quite a big uproar in favour of net neutrality earlier in the year / last year.
    Unfortunately when mega corps get involved, congress votes in favour of mega corps, which screws over the paying customer.

    Unfortunately, you won't have much luck with that. To get 99.9% assured uptime and assured bandwidth you need to go to a business/commercial line which will make your expensive home line look extremely cheap. Removing that "up to" line costs an absurd amount of money.

    Yep mine came back again last week. Goes from 100FPS with a ping of 87 to a ping of 999+. Also have lag when my FPS and ping are normal. Random DC's started again :(

    Mostly placebo useless.
    Sometimes you might see an insignificant improvement that hides larger issues. Sometimes you get simply insignificant improvement.

    The only time a VPN is good is if it is an actual VPN and if the route your ISP autoselects is god awful.
    Otherwise, the VPN will simply take the exact same hops and give nearly the exact same ping with the added overhead penalty of the VPN.
