All the people that says the constant blue screens don’t effect you hardware for you PlayStation is 100% wrong. After blue screening 4 times today my PlayStation literally randomly turns off and I’ve tried ever remedy to fix it. And ever time I start eso my PlayStation literally turns off. And I can’t turn it back on for 4-5 minutes. Zos you’re just going to let this slide? Just wait until more people complain about this and you actually going to have to fix the problem instead of making bull crap bandaids that literally make it worse every time. LOOK INTO ITS RUINING PEOPLE PLAYSTATIONS. I’ve blue screened literally over 350+ times since dragonhold and it’s ok this is what they want. ZOS FIX BLUE SCREENS ON PS4!!!!!

First: ZOS should absolutely fix the blue screening issue.

I think what's happening is that the blue screening is exposing vulnerabilities in people's Playstations. Something similar happened to my old PS4 over the summer. It locked up after a problematic system update, and after trying to troubleshoot for a while, it just ceased to turn on altogether. It was the last straw on already malfunctioning hardware. So, Sony "caused" my PS4 to die, but it was eventually going to happen, anyway. I was more than a little upset, but there was no compensation I could have sought. If your PS4 is still under warranty, I suggest having it serviced. Don't be me, and my sudden, totally avoidable expense over the summer.

I get that the blue screen issue is frustrating and should be fixed, but why would any sane person continue to frustrate themselves on a game they think is terrible? Just move on.

    Get a PC.

    Inbe4 lock.

Also I don´t think you know it is ZOS and not something wrong with the PS4. I´m sure it´s ESO causing it in a sense if it only happens in ESO, but the flaw might still fundamentally be with the console itself. And agree with above poster, move on for crying out loud. My Gfx card broke a few months ago after a long and faithful service, however I don´t sit around staring at a black screen.

I bought a new and better Gfx card.

Can't you let a person vent a little? Especially when he/she is justifiably angry. It's apparently been an on going problem for console players recently with all the blue screens and crashing.

We all get blue screens yet you're the only one with the issue of your ps4 not being able to turn on. This is something to consider.

FYI my first PS4 did that right before the power supply in it died. It sounds like your PS4 is just going the natural way and you are correlating it with blue screens.

    This.

My power supply died on my first PS4 too. Sounds alot like what is happening here. I was going to update to the pro at the time anyway, so it didn't affect me, but yeah...

Time to repair or buy yourself a new system Silly. You absolutely can't blame blue screens on your PS4 dying, and that is what is happening here. I know all too well the frustration of blue screens, but you cannot blame your system failures on ESO.

I mean, you can..you just sound crazy for doing so..

Blue screen happened on anthem too. It was Sonya end that caused to. If your having g this much trouble stop running eso, your ps4 may be going bad. My brand new one (replacing a first gen) does not blue screen where my old one did. Elswyr put a strain on consoles that the current hardware cant handle.

    Interesting.

The game sometimes takes my laptop out, temporarily, when it crashes.

So, it's interesting to learn it can do the same to consoles.

I'm not sure if it can physically harm the console as long as it safely crashes to the bluescreen. When PS4 players talk about bluescreens, the console does not lock up but it crashes to the main menu from where the console can be operated normally. The games are run in an instance of their own this gen with the operating system being a lot safer from crashing these days than it used to be in older console generations. So in short a bluescreen on PS4 means a game crash. The console's operating system still runs without lockup. Usually.

So unlike last gen's PS3, a bluescreen on PS4 won't (usually) freeze the whole console anymore in most cases. If the hardware would be in risk of malfunction caused by a game's crash, we could be sure it would be in Sony's best interest to put tremendous pressure on game developers with a high crash frequency in their games. Each crash comes with a report form after all. It's safe to assume that ESO is on Sony's watch for its crashes.

Cant tell if you are being serious or not. Actually it is more like the client crashing on the PC and nothing like pulling the power cord. Ive never seen an instance in which a hard reset has harmed the hardware. Though corrupting the OS does happen which usually isnt to hard to repair.

This. If the game is causing you problems and you think its bad, why not just move on and stop torturing yourself. Its not good for your health to be frustrated all the time.

Have you tried cleaning the case vents, heat sink, and fan? Shutting off is a safety measure on a lot of devices to protect hardware from damage due to overheating. Also making sure the console is not near any heat sources or in direct sunlight and has clearance around the case at least a couple of inches( 4-6 is ideal) for air flow.

It seems to me this person hasnt encountered the blue screen of death like us older generations have with windows 95 and up. Keep trying with every blue screen without checking other stuff is bound to fry your hardware, one way or another. Even on a ps4.

Edit: most people forget to clean the fan-intake of a ps4 and the fan itself. Dust buildup usally causing overheating, frying the cpu is usally the cause.

I have at least some first hand experience to share. When I first bought an Xbox One S, it was for my son. It was pretty brand new (couple of months or so) when he started playing Roblox on it. One particular Roblox game "blue screened" all the time, after all from 15-120 minutes or so, but it was "so fun" that he kept playing it. Eventually, this Xbox died.
So, I sent it for (free, of course) repairs. I was told that they had to switch a memory card card. I asked if that's why it kept blue screening, here's the professional answer I had:

"I'd say the other way around, really. If a game keeps crashing this way, wait for a patch or update [...] after 15 years of console service, I am pretty convinced repeatedly letting a game crash your console, can indeed cause hardware failure. Don't do it. Microsoft would burn me at the stake for saying so, but I can't deny what I'm seeing".

Also, another thing that might be completely coincidental. Like 10 years ago I was playing a heavy Total War: Rome mod (Europa Barbarorum), and my PC could hardly live through it. Literally every session ended with a blue screen (but not in other games/programs), eventually "something" physically burnt on my mother board (don't know what), I could feel the smell, and I could indeed the a blackened component, with molten plastic around it.
Yes, a very amateurish/superstitious kind of observation, but I'm still pretty sure that RTW crashing over and over is what caused the bloody thing to catch fire. Can't say more than that.

I don't think they have made some intentional "crash trigger", but of course - you get disconnected every now and then in huge clashes in Cyrodiil etc., because you can have like 200 guys in the same spot. It's not weird in any way, people spamming buttons like crazy, moving around, using voice chat and so on. Every little ability you fire off, requires calculations; probably through several "layers" (all your buffs/debuffs, your targets buffs/debuffs and so on). Then your console/computer needs to process a lot of stuff too, visuals and sounds from abilities - and "sync" every little thing with other players across the server. I'm not surprised it happens to be fair. But intentionally making people's consoles/computers crash to free up some server power?

You call it gatekeeping, but it's just common sense... If you think it's a terrible game, why are you playing?

How's this gatekeeping? This is pure logic. I don't play battlefront as much as I love shooter games and star wars. Why? Because it sucks.

I don't play GTA iv or online loving GTA as much as I do. Why? Because it sucks.

The list goes on... Souls games, NFS, basically all new fighting games that aren't super smash... All genres I love, all games that suck. Don't play any of them.

    Go play something else. Easy.

It's new that's for sure. I quit for several months and just came back last week on PS4. My guild has several complaints in guild chat about tiring of the blue screen which luckily I haven't experienced yet nor heard of before in any guild chat when I was playing previously. The guildies were pretty frustrated.

A blue screen or error screen on any system over time hurts the system. Nothing turns off correctly when it happens and thats bad for the machine. When you want to stop playing a game, or shut the machine off it does so in a specific order for greatest efficiency. When it it just shuts off its like completely turning off a car instantly going at 70mph on a high way while stepping on the gas. Do that enough times and you will have problems. So if its actually starting to hurt the system then stop playing the game, its the only advice I can give on what Matt Firror spoke to, "Set the gold-standard in MMORPGs on Consoles." :)
